Tips for Using Your Boat's Fire Extinguisher
For short passing or offshore long one? With or without water maker?
GOD JOB EXSPLAINING THANKS
I don't know why people think the only way to prepare food is to cook. Eat something else if it's not calm.
Safety is important. and it keeps the food in the pot rather than on the cabin sole.
Did you seriously just put out a UA-cam video with no actual video? Terrible.
A waste of my life
great advice. Every time I look in hidden places in the hull I see something that the previous owner installed. And then disconnected but left behind.
worthless video. Who knows what you're using.
Thanks! I don't feel like I have enough experience with fiberglass to do my old transponder through hulls myself (❤yet), so I'll likely pay the yard this time. I do plan to be there doing other projects though, and may spend as much time looking over their shoulder to learn more by watching as I do on my other projects.
I am thinking about buying a boat that is already documented thru the Coast Guard and has its assigned name and location painted on the transome. I do not want the boat to be documented, I want it to be titled and change the name. How would I accomplish that?
If using butyl, don’t forget to tighten the fasteners over a couple of weeks as the tape continues to press outward.
Sorry. I can't find the recipe.
Can we get an update please
Fridge and freezer drew a ton of power on my sea-trial trip even with the engine running, this podcast just completely changed my thinking! Sure I could add more solar and figure out a way to keep the fridge and freezer going, but in reality the cost does not equal the reward. I realized on that trip that the thought of losing all of that food in the fridge and freezer was causing me more stress than if I were to have no fridge/freezer at all. Plus the space I will now gain back will be huge and will allow for even more storage of food which will not need to be refrigerated at all. Thank you! TL:DR- Refrigerators are not necessary for sailing!
This matches the Japanese saws that are so popular these days. Same short, deep tooth pattern, and most Japanese saws are pull-stroke saws. Same. 🙏🏻
Amazing ❤❤
I'm very confused about the ACR v6. It claims to send AIS as well as satellite, and it has a space for the boat's MMSI, but I cannot !@#$ing figure out how to program in my boat's MMSI to the ACR V6! ACR has been beyond useless about this. I'm starting to think that it doesn't actually send out my MMSI, but has a Top Secret MMSI already programmed into it, which makes no sense, unless it's programmed to just scream I AM AN EPIRB HELP! :-/
Excellent love the para size discussion. Weighted? & rope length?😊
How about the bow? If you’ve got a place on the bow of a motor yacht, is the flag going to be your country flag or something like the flag on the port side? Or the courtesy flag?
The PDQ 32 is blue water rated and was designed after the PDQ 36. I do not consider either PDQ slow. John Neal is his name. Mahina is website
Where can one find the specifications for this elusive 'blue water rating'
@@rickc303 There’s a older gentleman who teaches an all day seminar on Bluewater cruising at the Annapolis boat show and he publishes a rating of Bluewater rated yachts on his website.

Cats have been mariners from way back. They have served with distinction as mousers and ratters. That is why their distribution is global.
Always sleepy.......Great Island.
This is a video site, not an audio site ... this "video" isn't helpful at all!
Get to the point
Thanks for this video. This was extremely helpful.
I've been to the Bahamas by boat many times, BUT not since the click to clear computer thing. Between the click to clear and the pet permit I'm going to cancel my trip. It's to invasive and hostile for how to complete the forms. Why would they shoot themselves in the foot? Thanks for your attempt to help, but I'm not feeling it anymore.
transfer them from the original plastic container to a glass container with a good plastic lid. Place those to a waterproof dry box (otter box style container) with a desiccant and store them low. under the kitchen sole...
What if the boat is registered in the USA and I am Canadian bringing the sailboat to Canada
Thank you, this very much needed to be said. I would add one: when switching to a working frequency, pause 5 maybe even 10 seconds before transmitting to ensure the freq isn't already in use.
Yea thanks for that.
It's a nightmare for single people who never eat cereal. I love the boxed milk in 1 cup servings. I use it for cooking all the time. No more throwing away soured partial quarts of milk.
Thank you Lin!!!
Thank you for this helpful instructional video.
When u should put down courtesy flag once u reach in port?
Just the information I was trying figure out, thank you!
I tried the coupon code for CLRMarine but it didn't work. Sorry for this comment. Love the podcast and show. Lots of great info.
Nice
Thank you so much. I learned a lot before I buy.
Thank you
Wow That was a lot of nothing......
This is very helpful and timely. I was just looking for one on Amazon today and was wondering about the size. Thank you for sharing a link.
No visuals 😢
Dang. I left mine behind (on a journey from Halifax to Long Sault, Ontario where our homeport is). Next long trip, I'll remember to have them. I had picked mine up years ago from IKEA in Montreal for under $3 Cdn .. probably more since Pandemic.
Corelle is a great option, but it does shatter like you said.A set of wood bowls and plates are handy, and they float too.
Clip it to your PFD Yeah, you should always be wearing THAT too, since it's far more likely to help you than the kill switch. Far, FAR more boaters drown than get run over by their own outboard yet very few cruisers (fewer than 1% I would wager).ever wear their PFDs in their dinghy. It's just not cool to wear it I guess. Also this recent tend of standing up while driving a dinghy is pretty dangerous too IMHO. I've been seeing it more and more in anchorages lately -especially since the recent COVID boom of young newbies. That's one of the basic safety rules of a small boat. Sit down! Standing up while motoring is going to increase the chances of falling out like 10,000% Come to think of it I have NEVER seen someone who is standing up and holding onto the painter like Cool Biff ever wearing a PFD while doing so. Perhaps there is a correlation here?
That was a long-ass advertisement at the beginning.
The hot water worked, thank you Caroline
brilliant podcast, i loved this topic idea
After 3 months extended shake down in the Bahamas (and the trip from New England south to get there), I am headed back North as well. I had always left the option open to continue on further south if things went well and I absolutely loved it (they and I both did). Unfortunately the reality for me is that there are still a lot of things I need and would like to do to the boat before going farther afield to both feel more comfortable that the boat is well founded, but also that I won't have to encounter and surprise major work once way out. I'm sure to some degree the more southern islands are more self sustaining and have reasonable facilities (I've particularly heard this about Trinidad and Grenada), but it's something I would rather not leave to chance. Just arrived in Lake Worth area yesterday, and will spend a couple weeks here sourcing some parts and if I'm lucky, some custom stainless work before heading North to at least North Carolina for haul out and a bunch of bottom related projects. All this is to say, I know the feeling and how hard it is to make the decision. It's always tough to make. Best of luck with your projects, and hope we can share an anchorage sometime!
Great Tip
