Anyone still listen to Industry? The master..
UA-cam's recommendation algorithms really suck period. I've been watching Richard Thompson content for years on UA-cam and I've never seen this particular one before. Worth waiting for, yes, but why should I have had to wait? I guess YT only promotes things if you let them put all kinds of obnoxious ads before, during, and after it....
Legend
Let those December winds bellow 'n' blow I'm as warm as a July tomato [Chorus:] Peaches on the shelf Potatoes in the bin Supper's ready, everybody come on in Taste a little of the summer Taste a little of the summer You can taste a little of the summer My grandma's put it all in jars Well, there's a root cellar, fruit cellar down below Watch you head now, and down you go And there's [Chorus] Maybe you're weary an' you don't give a damn I bet you never tasted her blackberry jam [Chorus] Ah, she's got magic in her - you know what I mean She puts the sun and rain in with her green beans [Chorus] What with the snow and the economy and ev'ry'thing I think I'll jus' stay down here and eat until spring [Chorus] When I go to see my grandma I gain a lot of weight With her dear hands she gives me plate after plate She cans the pickles, sweet & dill She cans the songs of the whippoorwill And the morning dew and the evening moon 'N' I really got to go see her pretty soon 'Cause these canned goods I buy at the store Ain't got the summer in them anymore
nice
Are you married to iris dement?? She wrote the song....NOT YOUR WIFE....UNLESS IRIS DEMENT is who you are/were married to!!!
Very good version of a great song by Dan Bern. Nice, soothing voice and delicate picking!
A wonderful rendering of this classic song.
No telling how many times I have listened here...
They are the best.
A beauty.
Nicely done! I'm a big Dan Bern fan too...
Very nice :)
is she wearing dreads ?!??
Good job. By the way, we have the same name.
I think we miss just how beautiful his guitar work is; we are all caught up in the tender lyrics and Greg's captivating voice!
<3 Just Dar and her guitar.
Perfect. Whether it's the Iowa City Council or the Iowa City Community School District, it's all about money for the developers and the contractors. To hell with the environment, the students, the citizens, and future generations.
Awesome!
Just..GREAT !!! Where are you now ????
I just heard Iris sing this. Oh, my!! Thanks DO much for posting this. !:-)
I hope I get to see you a third time before I rejoin grandma and her canned goods. You exemplify the purest sentiments I've known of family, place and values. Thanks!
Damn! I missed it!.
hey man can you do a tutorial?
Nice Job
I remember being so nervous as the soprano soloist... what an honor!
kinda spamming but omg, they have a sing language interpreter there :D thats awesome!!!!
Thanks for the vid, only one of this song i could find D: i really wish this band was known more widely, i feel like only a few, concentrated people know of EFO :(
I was actually there! I worked and lived in Hudson, got off my 3rd shift job and rushed down to the farm where they told me that they weren't even selling tickets yet. Had to take a nap in my car. Carried nothing with me except my wallet and baked on the side of that hill until some cool people offered to let me sit under their canopy. She was the last act of the day. And she fucking rocked!
greg gets me to the core, embodies soulfulness and sexiness like no other....i dont care about the outside envelope of his form, its irrelevant....its clear from these comments that others feel it too. i once walked through a blizzard in -9F temps to see him in cambridge, MA in 94 and i will never forget it...... spring wind indeed! thanks, greg
It's 1am, and I'm clinging to the feeling this song gives me. Sleeps seems like death.
This is great! could you do a tutorial for this?
@Lemonancy Pete is so incredibly versatile, he effectively replaces at least 3 other musicians. Richard should pay him a double salary!
Nice rendition.
This song is awesome. Thank you, Greg.
@jklfan66 really?!?! that's fantastic is there a video on youtube? :)
Greg Brown is an American Original. The audio quality doesn't capture his warmth. Listen to some of the other videos here, the ones such as Out Little Town that is his music set to still photos. Like many other singers of his and my generation, his message isn't for everyone..as we can see here. And that's what makes it so good!
@rex7222 bless your heart--this guy cannot sing or write
LOL! Good one!
@iceaxe56 this just shows you don't know much about Tom OR greg's music : / Time to go buy some music buddy! : )
Wow! This sounds natural yet awesome...Bluegrass is awesome!!
- was there, unforgettable music, unforgettable night...
i love tom waits, but this is greg singing like greg, come on now
this is my favorite greg brown song of all time, thank you for playing it so beautifully, you're great! im a little bit in love with you after that :)
oh wow, this is my favorite greg brown song ever to cover! you do this beautifully thank you so much. see you in china someday
i think he is trying to sound like tom waits--it aint workin
Beautiful, just beautuful! Thanx to my son-in-law Chuck for turning me on to this band. Bob
This is just about the best video to come out of Falcon Ridge. Angle could have been better, but the camera is steady.,..and subject...well, what can I say. Perhaps the best to have graced that stage.
Pay attention lady gaga and all you poor excuses for "artists".
@apbIII you completely misunderstood me... I meant that Brown can see the value (the good) in anyone. BTW, I am a liberal.
@gergsar you decide value? wonderful song. if he sings of her or another, who are you to judge? you are a right wing republican? or just adopt their values?
