SPECTACULAR Rhododendrons and Azaleas in Sheringham Park
Breathtaking views and in a glorious landscape there’s plenty to see and enjoy at Sheringham Park. Renowned for its displays of Rhododendrons and Azaleas with easy access paths and trails this is a great place to explore for young and old. There are also a couple of viewing towers to admire the surrounding views of the woodland and parkland. There is also a gazebo which gives views all the way along the coast and you might also spot a steam train passing by. There’s a large car park, cafe and bookshop to help you make a great day out. Follow us as we meander along the paths enjoying the colourful displays.
Designed by Humphrey Repton in 1812.

BEAUTIFUL Heather on the Heath SILENT
Переглядів 462 місяці тому
One of the most wonderful places to visit in Suffolk is Dunwich Heath during the summer when the Heather is flowering. We parked at the National Trust car park at Coastguard Cottages and headed off on one of the many trails to enjoy this fantastic coastal site. Enjoy the views along the way and from the drone. There are many footpaths and the option to easily get down to the beach or over to RS...
Bus to Grasmere, low level walk back to Ambleside with STEPPING STONES for fun

It’s spring in the Lake District and we take the open top 599 bus from Ambleside to Grasmere, sitting on the top deck to admire scenic views on the way. It’s really worth taking bus trips to take a break from driving and to enjoy linear walks like this one. Once off the bus we head out of Grasmere and follow the lakeshore path, pausing to rest at a bench overlooking the water. Then we continue ...

A Lake District circular walk from Buttermere village to Haystacks summit starting with an easy lakeside stroll. A popular Lake District place to visit. We set off from Glenridding village filming the valley approach and along both Striding Ridge and Swirral Ridge giving as much visual information as we could in our usual quiet ambient way. We were lucky with the weather, dry rock and good visibility, breezy on the summit of Helvellyn but both ridges were sheltered from the wind. This is a Grade 1 scramble which means you need to use your hands...

      Sheringham Trust have a really special place in Sheringham Park. Lots for everyone which is lovely. The displays really are amazingly colourful. We usually climb the high gazebo which looks out to the sea and coastline but didn’t film it this time…..the blackbirds were singing so loudly we had to include them! This might be our last film for a while as we are having a ‘pause’ on our video making.

    Another delightful walk, and a lot less strenuous than some that you have done. Mostly grey skies didn't spoil things, and the clematis and bluebells brightened it up. It was very kind of the bus company to put on a private vehicle just for you (or so it appeared)! The stepping stones at the end would certainly not be friendly for a short-legged person.

    • @thenextadventure8079
      @thenextadventure8079 2 місяці тому

      It would have been nice to have some sunshine but it wasn’t to be, in fact while we were waiting for the bus it was raining that’s why nobody was sitting on the wet seats upstairs. An ideal opportunity for us to film. We dared each other to cross the stepping stones just for the fun of it, there’s a bridge further down stream. 😂

    Lovey walk and it’s so nice there at haystacks 😊 I’ve not gone up that route before I’ve normally gone from the mine up. Looked very nice though although a little scrambly that way.

      We’ve done this route a couple of times and there is a little bit of scrambling here and there but not too difficult. The very first time we did Haystacks (years ago) we went up Fleetwith Pike first then over Haystacks and back down to Gatesgarth where we had parked - phew that was a challenge in a hot day. Like you, we’ve also done it from the mine too which helps avoid all the scrambles 🙂 though we’re sure you could do it Yasmin.

    Once again, enjoyed watching, thank you. We stuck to the trail at Holkham as we also live in Norfolk and know all these paths well! This year decided to join them all up and use the Coastliner and Coast Hopper to get us back to where we left the car each time. We were also lucky with the weather and had no rain at all on any of our stretches of path which was a definite plus! To others thinking of doing this the last bus anywhere on that stretch of the coast is before 5pm so make sure you time your walk to get you to the bus stop in good time for that last bus! Timetables are easily found online :). A tip too is when you walk the shingle stretch from Cley to Weybourne, you can hit low tide and walk along the shoreline which makes it far easier!! A friend was a sailor and told us about this and the tide times so we timed that stretch to avoid as much of the shingle as possible :)

    • @thenextadventure8079
      @thenextadventure8079 2 місяці тому

      We thought your comment about the buses really useful so have added links to the two bus websites in all five descriptions of our Norfolk Coast Path videos. Thanks so much - let’s hope your comment and the links helps others planning their own walks. Checking the tide times is also a top tip especially for the shingle section - we dropped down on the landward side a couple of times to give us a break. 🙂 As you will have seen we did have to put our jackets on near Hunstanton and at Cley (but only briefly) but apart from that we, like you, enjoyed dry (if very breezy) days. Perfect walking enjoyed in our home county. Thanks again Charlotte.

      Thanks so much Sarah. We were so pleased to get a nice clear day (with no rain!) to do this challenging walk up to Helvellyn in the Lake District and film it. Lovely to meet you today at Horsey. By the way we have a video on our channel that shows the walk we did today which starts from Horsey Mill and includes seals which we also filmed - you may enjoy that one. Thanks again for your kind comments. Tim & Selina

    Shaky legs indeed at 08:30 Well done both on a challenging but rewarding hike, we're hopefully going to be back in the Lakes sometime in August, and will be making a return to Glenridding! Lovely video, thanks for sharing, Simon and Elaine

      @@unowhotravelchannel we weren’t sure whether you’d done Helvellyn or not yet (we would need to check your ‘Wainwrights map’ 🙂) but definitely the most challenging way to reach the summit. I (Selina) really do love being a daredevil but the shaky legs comment was real and I’m pleased Tim got that on film …I don’t usually have a talking part as you’ll know. Thanks for the comment, have fun in the Lakes, looking forward to your next set of videos.

      @@CampervanTales we would definitely recommend it. The first section is really popular. Once you get to the end of Grasmere you can have a lovely time watching dogs going in and out of the water. Rydal Cave is very close to that area too but you may know about that? It’s a great walk, fairly easy going (for the Lake District! 😀). Have a great time in October. If you need any other bits of advice we are happy to send them. Thanks so much for subscribing….hopefully a couple of other videos on our channel for Lake District walks will be helpful. Tim & Selina

    It's absolutely stunning footage. I've seen Striding Edge from a first-person point of view, but not like this. It is certainly a hike/scramble to be treated with respect. I'd love to do it one day. Thanks for sharing. New Subscriber here.

      Thank you so much for the great comment. We’ve done this route a few times over our time walking in the Lake District. We were so keen to film it in good conditions to show it in a true way keeping it realistic. It’s perfectly doable for those who have a bit of walking experience in good conditions (that’s definitely the key). Hope you are able to do it one day. Thanks for subscribing, we really appreciate it.

    Helvellyn was my first mountain walk I done when I moved up north and it is what made me fall instantly in love with the Lake District. I’ve been up quite a few times now as I just love it up there. But your braver than me doing striding edge. 😅 Ive gone up swirral edge before and got jelly legs, only managed because my friend helped me get through the vertigo. But sadly I think striding edge is beyond me. You got a great day for it though. What you said is 100% true I reckon if it was only a short distance from ground level I would move across it no problem. Fantastic views at the top 😊

      So pleased you have also experienced the Helvellyn summit - hopefully with views. It’s an amazing place. We’ve done it a few times now (perhaps our most visited Wainwright) and still enjoy it. Finally we’ve been able to film it. Tim wanted to show the route in a realistic way and that it’s not quite the knife edge route that others have shown. The dry rock is an absolute must but you’ll be aware of that having conquered Swirral Edge. 🙂. Thanks so much again Yasmin - it’s great to get comments like this one, we both really appreciate it. 😀

      @thenextadventure8079 4 місяці тому

      That caterpillar really loved the gate it took ages to move it carefully out of the way. 😂 This section was very hard going on the legs and with the constant sound of crunching on stones - we went down onto small sandy paths where we could. Brilliant bird watching areas - we spotted several avocets here.

      You could say that we are flatlanders too Gaby…as we live in Norfolk on the south east coast of England! 🙂 But we have been going into the mountains to hike for many years and sometimes those mountains involve a long day of walking. Maybe you have seen some of our previous videos where we do walk closer to home? You might enjoy the lower level routes we have taken in those. Thanks so much for your comment. Tim & Selina

    After your previous few videos of walking the coastal path, this was more like the ascent of Everest! I used to have a good head for heights, which I lost when I got old, but some of that route would have daunted me even in my younger days. I was intrigued by the plaque for the dead huntsman. I can perhaps imagine the fox getting as far away from the hounds as possible, but how on earth di the huntsmen ride up there? Were fox hunts carried out on foot in this area, perhaps? Another great video - thank you!

    • @thenextadventure8079
      @thenextadventure8079 4 місяці тому

      We first did this route 25 years ago, and have done it at least four times over the years. Each time the mountain seems a little higher and further away 🤣 I’ve read that in this area huntsmen would follow the hounds on foot, no place for horses up on the fells. Thanks as always for following along

      We are so glad you enjoyed these videos. We drove to Pembrokeshire 2 years ago to walk the coast path there (unfortunately we didn’t film it) but our drive from Norfolk took several hours 😕 and it took us a few days to recover from the car journey when we got home! Hope you do get to visit Norfolk and try out the coast path when you do - it’s fairly easy walking, quite peaceful and is a bit like stepping back in time. Thanks for your comment and following along.

    I'm enjoying this a lot, having just watched the first four episodes. For some reason known only to themselves, UA-cam have stopped sending me notifications of your uploads, and I found these videos only when I checked to see why I'd seen nothing from you lately. UA-cam are always changing things and mucking things up, and I find it most annoying on my channel too. I'll be sure to catch tomorrow's final stage, notification or not!
