Awesome, thanks! I believe I have found this model on an local auction and will bid on it. Not sure if its the 84mm or the 91mm though. Do you know how to tell the difference and what should be a OK price for the 84mm model?
How much is this one typically now. I just got a new one for 99. I thought it was good since someone else was selling them for 135. And the cyber 41 or L on victorinox site is 140. Wasn't worth 40 for a little saw and file to me personally.
The package opener is great for clamshell packaging, so as not to accidently stab the contents with the regular blade. I like the Rambler, but the fact that it doesn't have the pen makes it a no go for me.
Good video! There was no 90° lock on the bottle opener....(pre-1985)
I just got one of these too!…apparently there’s also a Hiker Small….I prefer the models with the backside Phillips, so I might have to hunt one of those down too…
Another cool review. I have a similar Champ C and Swiss Champ that I also plan to review. Thanks for saying a few words in favor of respect to fish.
Hoping to see another video from you soon!
Na tala tem orifício para inclusão de um alfinete?
Awesome video, thank you. I wanted to ask you; the knife I got last weekend, would match backpacker 2 in all details, except - my knife has no scale tools and corkscrew has 5 turns. Now, what kind of variation is this?
😂
Those oddball tools on the mini champ are tools originally from a medical SAK. The spoon isn't for getting high, it's for measuring powdered medications before there were capsules. Also, that isn't a package hook. It's a trachea hook for emergency tracheotomies. It's to hold back the trachea cartilage while slipping in the breathing tube. It also did double duty as a cotton puller for removing cotton from pill bottles. The blade you described as a medical blade was correct. It's in the form of a scalpel, more useful for incisions (like that emergency tracheotomy) than a regular knife blade.
I put the emerald scales on mine too. Wasn't sure I'd like them until they were on, but it quickly became my favorite SAK. Ended up putting them on my swisschamp as well.
I love the idea of the pliers, but the handyman looks HUGE 😅 My ranger is already kinda big & heavy...
Eh, define "better steel"... For most people a knife that can rust is perceived as worse than one that blunts more easily, so I get their choice of steel here.
Another great and educational video. Funny how my situation pairs with yours…ua-cam.com/video/MMKnudAja7Y/v-deo.htmlsi=H9ctb6IXSD4lb2z1
Nice knife. I too like the old well used knifes.
They have to relaunch the 108mm series, it's a great tool. I would love to see an "Officer's Knife" in the 108mm frame. I wonder if the GAK was based on the Kaufmann k55k .
Wow no hook the useless tool
Not as good as the fireman
Hey Mate, you explained it all perfectly. I'm gonna keep using my 40 year old climber. Cheers, Pete.
wonderfull review my dear, tnx & regards from Argentina.
I do find the topic interesting. I just ordered a wenger with a dog leg opener.
All done with vids
For camping, I use the workchamp. Who is basically a handyman but larger. ❤
Beautiful!
Missing your videos sir
Very recently just picked one of these up on craigslist in Canada. Paid $10. What a steal. Needed just minimal TLC with regard to the tools. Scales were cracked so I removed them and replaced them with the plus scales. What an amazing handy little tool. It’s usually in my hand a couple of times a day.
Thx
Totally on point! I've been through lots of vitorinox SAK sizes and combinations. The Rambler is the best of all yet.
The wood is rosewood.
Handyman chisel is beside the corkscrew.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience!
Sure miss you man. I hope you're doing well these days
Hey brother! I moved, I may be shooting some vids with my kid this summer. Hope you're well, you're over 2k subs man, that is awesome. It's awesome because you're awesome.
-yes-what would we be doing here? :) Thank you Peter!
I paid $63 for a white compact, I can't find any other colors apart from red in the US, I bought it on Ebay.
108mm Victorinox (now discontinued) would compare to those.
Nice models! I totally agree, 84 mm pieces are both so useful and compact 👌🏻
Great. Exiting.
That knife, great! Actually a picknicker right?
In a pinch, it’s better than nothing. That’s about it though
Even a badly broken Golfer has some value in parts thanks to that heavy square phillips driver. That model works so well with the Leatherman square hex bit adapter 👍
That looks like the huntsman
"Cuticle pusher" = coke spoon, LOL
Sweet
I suspect the screwdriver on the mirror has largely been replaced in function by the small screwdriver on the can opener, and is, thus, currently unnecessary.
I don’t suppose it will make any difference, but the town is pronounced ‘duh-LAY-mõ’ (nasal ‘o’)
Thank you for the video, Peter.
Have GF knife too with different signature from my grandfather he was in world war 2
