Переглядів 21828 днів тому

You're doing your MARKET SIZE SLIDE all WRONG! (How to Fix it!)
Ed, I have a question. I want to do some customer testing, but I'm afraid to ask for money as there are so many scams around. How can I overcome this?
I think you'll have to go back and analyze why people would assume it's a scam and work hard to make sure you position yourself different. Maybe the scams are the problem and you can use that as a pain point to get them interested?
I assume this varies by geographic area? There is zero possibility to survive on $50K in London with a morgage as a single person even without kids. No one is selling their house to go and live in shared accomodation and not be able to afford to live. Double that amount will just about cut it. I guess the key is to raise a smaller amount (say $200k), keep you job, gain significant value out of that amount, and then go for a larger round in seed
You are correct. A lot of that factors into the final number.
Play till 95. 😊
Why the sudden ending?
Good to know.
Thanks Ed
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Very helpful! I work with countless startups and this channel is a gold mine! Very good and practical information.
Great to hear! Appreciate you spending some time with us
My 5 cents: 90-s experience in startup world is a bit outdated that's for sure. In our time tech will give you advantage of building stuff in parallel. I suppose the idea is to build multiple MVPs and see what's gets traction or re-use parts of the systems.
We've been doing this nonstop for 30 years and we get to work with thousands of Founders in that time to understand what works. So it's a bit of our experience but mostly theirs.
Amazing breakdown, thanks Ed! Great content as usual!
Awesome ❤
Thanks for sharing this man. I'm adjusting my pitch deck.
Appreciate you spending some time with us!
@@StartupsDotCom I'm trying my best to learn as much possible.
Great Point!
Key line at 12:35 ... You have to be so steadfast and optimistic !!
Great POV!
Better thumbnail will help your helpful content. Love your work
What would you like to see in the thumbnail in this case?
@@StartupsDotCom "Live Q&A Office Hours" is kinda vague. You are already doing good work with the text on Ed Kang's videos.
I totally disagree that the inventor of a product is the best seller. I know several inventors who can’t connect to people at all.
There are many cases where that is absolutely true since there are millions of Founders and obviously not all of them are going to be great at sales, but the reason so many ARE great at it is because their passion for the product is so unique.
Awesome thanks again
Thanks again!
Learning.
Hopefully we'll keep you learning!
You know what. Why not just let us put our pitch decks on the platform and have us read each others and realize what is a good deck and a bad deck. Making us feel like investors by having us read 10 minutes or less each pitch deck. We will learn/experience the theme faster
This may be a dumb question. But do you guys have your video content and courses in an app? Reason why I ask. Is because I’d like to lay down before I sleep and learn. But doing it through a website is not ideal.
We don't have a dedicated mobile app but they should be mobile friendly (the courses) on Startups.com so you can go through them on your phone. I like to view content that way too.
Man, your content is always 🔥 you mentioned. You started with an animation company. I'm making video games. Not exactly animation but within the realm of entertainment. Like you said, timing is crucial. I'm preparing my pitch Deck. Both channels content has being informative. Keep it coming.
Most of the principles are the same actually! Once you've got that pitch deck ready, let us know and we'll do a review!
That sounds like a plan. 😊
Good points.
Glad you enjoyed it
Definitely would attend these live, but it would be 4am for me. Love the content! Super helpful!
Sounds like we better keep these recorded for the time being ;)
Thank you for your time, I will definitely fix everything
Glad to help
Great, thank you very much, there is this big gap between what you see in your head and how you put it in the pitchdeck for investors and this is the first time I can see it clearly.
Glad it was helpful!
That was Nice .. all the best 👍📈
Learning!
Hi Ed, Madan from Zerorin. Really appreciate your constructive feedbacks. Will go back and revise the deck. :)
Thanks a tonne again! You've given us a tonne of great advice. Literally I have no idea how to say thank you anymore! I'll do all the changes you suggested. Thanks a lot man, you are awesome!
Wowww. This is worth the weight in gold. Thank you Ed and Ryan for ripping me a new one. I truly appreciate the feedback. I have a lot of work to do. Ed i am so glad you are feeling better, i appreciate all you do.
Cant wait this is promising. I have seen my Aunt in Ghana go through it.
Any time!
Thank you the feedback. Although the deck was shared many months in the past, this is still extremely valuable. I'll be sharing an updated version soon!
Spitting fire 🔥
💯👏
Hi Ed, I am currently building an E-learning platform that is generating ~$50,000 in ARR after 7 months of bootstrapped money (I’m 23yo). I have a pitch on October 11th to my advisor’s angel group. How do I get in contact with you for help?
Hi Minwoo. I responded on LinkedIn. I will check for a response there when I can.
I'm actually working on mine. Thanks.
Thank you so much for the feedback Ed. I made a mistake right on slide one by using the term, "smart contracts". What we're actually trying to do is enable spam free commerce over smartphone chat. But anyway, will completely re-do and re-submit the deck so it makes much more sense, with all this feedback! I cannot tell you how valuable it is, to see how your deck is being perceived outside of your own head. This has helped a tonne!
Thanks for another great video.
Ed, thanks so much for reviewing Kleo's pitch deck! Your feedback is incredibly valuable and it was great to get your perspective. We look forward to revamping our deck and adding more clarity about what we're working on.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Ed! It's been really useful as always. I've done a tonne of changes on it already since and I've used your suggestions from the past. Also added some more slides to cover it all that's needed. In fact, we also did a slight pivot based on our previous conversation. In fact, I'm currently working on an update, so this timing was amazing! Would you like to take a look at it when I'm done?
Yes! Let's take a look! Please. Look forward to it.
Here I'm thinking 2 pitch decks are enough. Apparently not 😂
Positives help and helps focus👍💕

This is GOLD.
Great video, great explanation, thanks for the wisdom! I'd love to see a sequel for this video that is narrowed down to Angel rounds, especially when it is the usual time-frame of getting the very first 50-200k in!
2 years ago we've lost our first startup closing down with 160k GBP loss. It took me 13 month to figure out what to do next but I'm happy to say that we're back on track with a new, way more polished product about how to change the world. What the failure made me do it was more than necessary for me to see where and how can I improve for our next shot. After the first months of "feeling bad about what happened" I've started to make some changes: 1 - Talking more with my partner/co-founder (who later became my wife) about what we've done completely wrong (Spoiler: focusing too much on the product and not the problem/sales) 2 - Visiting startup events where I've met with our 3rd co-founder who just went through the same issues a year later 3 - Started consuming a tonne of educational material in the subject. Literally everything from venture funds to pitch deck and product engineering. Watching videos like this has helped us sooo much, I can not even tell, so thank you very much for making them! (Cudos for Ed to lead us here, coming from his videos.)
"self though designer" - Great! Why don't you make that shine through your deck, just sprinkle some unicorn dust on it to make it come across. I'd love to see more images about the products, processes, happy customers etc. Metrics of how much product sales you've generated etc.
