    Ed, I have a question. I want to do some customer testing, but I'm afraid to ask for money as there are so many scams around. How can I overcome this?

    • @StartupsDotCom
      @StartupsDotCom 14 днів тому

      I think you'll have to go back and analyze why people would assume it's a scam and work hard to make sure you position yourself different. Maybe the scams are the problem and you can use that as a pain point to get them interested?

    I assume this varies by geographic area? There is zero possibility to survive on $50K in London with a morgage as a single person even without kids. No one is selling their house to go and live in shared accomodation and not be able to afford to live. Double that amount will just about cut it. I guess the key is to raise a smaller amount (say $200k), keep you job, gain significant value out of that amount, and then go for a larger round in seed

    My 5 cents: 90-s experience in startup world is a bit outdated that's for sure. In our time tech will give you advantage of building stuff in parallel. I suppose the idea is to build multiple MVPs and see what's gets traction or re-use parts of the systems.

      There are many cases where that is absolutely true since there are millions of Founders and obviously not all of them are going to be great at sales, but the reason so many ARE great at it is because their passion for the product is so unique.

    This may be a dumb question. But do you guys have your video content and courses in an app? Reason why I ask. Is because I’d like to lay down before I sleep and learn. But doing it through a website is not ideal.

    2 years ago we've lost our first startup closing down with 160k GBP loss. It took me 13 month to figure out what to do next but I'm happy to say that we're back on track with a new, way more polished product about how to change the world. What the failure made me do it was more than necessary for me to see where and how can I improve for our next shot. After the first months of "feeling bad about what happened" I've started to make some changes: 1 - Talking more with my partner/co-founder (who later became my wife) about what we've done completely wrong (Spoiler: focusing too much on the product and not the problem/sales) 2 - Visiting startup events where I've met with our 3rd co-founder who just went through the same issues a year later 3 - Started consuming a tonne of educational material in the subject. Literally everything from venture funds to pitch deck and product engineering. Watching videos like this has helped us sooo much, I can not even tell, so thank you very much for making them! (Cudos for Ed to lead us here, coming from his videos.)
