@@tvkii118 Zynaptic.com Audiomodern uses their time stretching & pitch shifting DSP inside of Loopmix. It’s also inside of Digital Performer, and I believe a few other programs. They license out their DSP, as it’s a very solid time stretch. I was first introduced to them via their Orange Vocoder, but the legacy one, back in 07

@@Moon_records_2012 yesssir! The homie exclusively produces in GarageBand, so we were being flexible and hosting some of my favorite Auv3s and using several presets I’ve made. I get GarageBand is clunky, and if it were up to me, we’d be in Koala, Ableton, Drambo, or directly on the SP.

@@ohmthepoet8428 One of the most pernicious lies in the synth world, is that FM synthesis is incredibly difficult to understand. It’s specific, and not many teach you how to implement the concept. Explanations of what it is, don’t tell me how, why, or when to use it. The best way to understand FM (imo), is to understand the 2-OP structure very thoroughly. The 4/6/9/11+ OP systems are quite stunning, but those are to build realistic, uncanny, physical sounding, and complex sounds. In 2-OP structures, you can only produce FM sounding sounds. Knowing 2-OP thoroughly is about 80% of it. The point of FM is all about generating side-bands, around your fundamental frequency. Each of those side bands are peaks in the spectrum. Harmonic frequencies are generated by altering the phase of the waveform, calculated from the time-domain, not the frequency domain (Additive Synthesis). It all boils down to Frequency, Amplitude, and the ratio between modulator to carrier (eg. 1:1) Also, it was daunting to me as well. I took it in little chunks, learning on the most basic fm software synth I own. But now, with this knowledge under my belt, I feel confident enough to tackle FM8, Nambu, KQ Dixie, Bleass Omega, Ableton’s Operator, and Dexed. Oh, Dexed is free on desktop! You could learn on there and then when a good deal on a Volca FM 2 comes your way, you’ll be better prepared! Dexxed is cool as like a preview player, and software editor for your patches. The Volca FM can import syses files, and so can Dexxed. And so can KQ Dixie (if you’re on iOS) There is also a giant library of sysex files from the old DX7 and other compatible hardwares And yes! You are “ sculpting sounds with the whole frequency spectrum” that exactly. The amplitude acts almost like a cutoff in a filter.
