Steve and John was just enjoying life getting high on whatever and writing silly songs about every day things, lol I'm an old salt who listened to John Prine on the boat on my 8 track, then cassettes, and lastly CD's, till I retired after 45 years driving boats for the oil fields, last one was 280 feet, and I was fighting the fire on the Deepwater Horizon, trying to keep a crane operator cool from the flames raging behind the crane wall that was getting him with radiant heat on the other side of the wall, I finally saw the movie, and a lot was wrong, and the crane operator didn't get blown out the crane like the movie says, he went down with the rig when it sunk, probably already dead, but myself and my crew did the best we could. I retired a few years later. John Prine still plays in my tractor after my grandson put my old CDs on a flash drive for grandpa, lol People don't even realize the hits they've heard that John or Steve wrote..... Missing ol John Prine. Thank you, Salty for taking the time to post thisen. lol

This year on Christmas night, after everything had settled down and the kids we in bed, "How Lucky" came on as I stood there with my wife feeling so grateful for all that God has blessed me with. Brought me to tears. John was so amazing. We need more people like him on this earth.

As an old person I do hope his savior called him home, if that was what he believed and wanted. It's not mine, but I hope he received what he expected. I will miss him and his talent and his poetry that he put into music. Condolences to his family who must really, really miss him.

So it's okay that Johnny Cash turn that song down because Willie Nelson and Arlo really nailed it. Personally I think that Willie's is better but I love both of them. Both of them are great.
