To me it just seems like another way to rearrange your home channels on android TV.

Almost 10 year old Apple Tv and Nvedia Sheild have more capability then this so called "Latest" google streamer, shield support DTS and also plex and 10 year old apple tv is same like this google streamer of today. I would buy a nvedia paying double the price then this.

The shield is still more powerful, but I am hearing that do to the lack of updates it's starting to have issues with older TV shows and movies do to no codecs. There is a way to convert the shield from android TV to Google TV which should stay up to date with firmware.

What do you need those fast of speeds for though? Mine has a 57 mbps download, and 7 mbps upload, but I watch live tv fine, movies don't buffer...is it more for gaming?

Respectfully, Amazon is not subscribing anyone automatically, you simply must chose the "download app only" option.

It's really not about if this device is better than the fire stick to a lot of people it's about what device can we go to now that the Amazon operating system is about to change from Android Base. So therefore you would not be able to download any Android based app like you used to. Everyone that has a fire stick will eventually have to upgrade to a different device not name Amazon fire stick because the operating system is going to change. So for this device and the Google Chromecast I think will be an absolute awesome device that a lot of basic streamers can use if they're basically wanting to watch their normal TV like Netflix, etc. Also you can't compare a $200 device (Shield) to a $50 (Onn)... hey I paid for a premium package made an account. however, I did the IMPlayer but its asking me to add a playlist? where can I get a playlist?....then when i click on playlist its giving me 3 options M3U... XC API..... stalker/MAG and or scan the QR code to add a playlist on the browser. I can it and nothing came up... please help

There's no reason to believe that these Onn Google TV devices won't last. They have no moving parts. The internal components are sourced from the same suppliers. The remote is the only question. Fire TV remotes are prone to failure and I've had that happen which is why Amazon sells lots of replacements. Walmart does give you a one year warranty so hang onto your receipt just in case. With Amazon switching to the Vega OS, these Google TV devices are hot sellers.
