Amazing sounds from the Yaybahar - Improvisation nº1
Переглядів 2,9 тис.3 роки тому
(English) - The Yaybahar is an instrument invented by musician Gorkem Sen. It is played like a cello but sounds ethereal and other-wordly. Once I heard it, I knew I had to build myself one. There are no effects on the recording, this is the natural acoustic sound of the instrument. Follow me on instagam for more music & sounds: dainiusmusic (Español) - El Yaybahar es un instrumen...

This is my first video attempt at playing this amazing piece on a fretless guitar. The camera stoped half way through but still decided to upload it. Hopefully I will be releasing a full version soon. Thanks for watching! Este es mi primer intento de grabar en vídeo ésta genial composición en una guitarra sin trastes. La cámara dejó de funcionar a mitad, aún así he decidido subirlo. Espero pode...
Congratulations ! All the concept, the special technique, that allows arpeggios in fretless instrument, the microtonals, and the quality of the guitar and sound, are exceptional!

Are you playing microtones ??
@@davidgeorge5863 kind of! I try to play in just intonation whenever possible, as well as adding microtonal ornaments
@@dainiusandhismusic2581 great playing man your a god i try to play microtones too on electric but still working on it btw this video was a big insparation for me ❤
@@davidgeorge5863 Man! Really appreciate your words!
Really great. What guitar are you playing? I’m looking to buy one. But not sure where to go.
@sassthedrummer Thanks! I did the con ersion myself. It was a decent sounding guitar but with bad intonation issues because of not accurate fretwork and misplaced bridge. The "easy" fix was to make it a fretless

I've been playing this piece for years and I really enjoyed hearing your performance of it. There's some really wild flavor you can add to it. I don't know if I would agree that this instrument is a perfect fit, since there's an inevitable loss of clarity that comes from the fretless, which may limit the expressiveness a bit. But there's more than one way to skin a cat. The slides were really juicy. Loved that. One thing that is a major theme in the piece is to change the attack through the repetitions to build a story. This is much more difficult with fretless, but you did not play without consideration to this aspect. You just used different tools to achieve it. For that, I think this is quite remarkable and a pleasure to listen to. I am sure Carlo would enjoy it if he gets a chance. I think he's very much open to different ways of achieving a good performance. I still like my steak as a simple plain steak, but if someone wants me to try a steak cooked a different way with some exotic and fun flavors, I'm definitely up for that.
May I ask who is the maker of your guitar? Sounds wonderful!
Was expecting the intense part to be played
This is inspiring and amazing! I just got my gg guitars basico yesterday. Are you using an amplifier? I find I don’t get much sustain far up on the neck so am wondering how you achieved that.
Անկրկնելի ստեղծագործություն է,անմահություն❤
loved the depth and intimacy from the first notes
As other comments have said, great playing! You really have great intonation. Is this the natural sustain of the guitar + the reverb of the space, or is it an effect? The notes seem to hold on really nicely.
Thanks! Really appreciate your comment. The fretless guitar is a very quiet instrument, and although the space had a nice reverb, it was hard to capture it, so I had to add some when mixing. :)
Oh, and trying to play as many notes as possible with sarod technique on the left hand really makes a difference in making the instrument have more sustain.
TIL how sarod left hand works. And I thought *right* hand maintenance is hard for classical guitarists :) So this is what gives it that crisp sound on this recording, almost as if you have frets. This is why I asked, because I generally got the impression the fretless classical is actually an electroacoustic instrument (if you want to transfer all the finesse to the listener), and this sounded like it has more natural sustain than usual.
Fretless! As if you're playing blindly 😮
Amazing music guitar and player ... stupid question but what do you feel playing on a fretless guitar ? Do you enjoy it? Because to my ears ... it sounds amazing
good stuff
