Pilot Custom 823 fountain pen, review.
I really like Pilot Pens, this pen is a disappointment.
I’m keeping the pen, I’ll probably only use blue inks, or very dark inks. Than I wonder what will happen.
Have you had a problem with Pilot 823 demonstrator in clear?

Twsbi rainbow of color!

The rainbow is real, I try to match the cap to ink, for the rainbow look. Most of the pens are Ecos, I do have 580s and 700. The Twsbis will be inked until, it’s an experiment. I will update. I will be changing some of ink, decided I want about 1/2 of the pens with shimmer inks. I’ll new video when I have added about 5 new Twsbis. UA-cam channels mentioned: @yzapensandpaper @jppenandink

I’ve finalized what I’m bringing (not easy, we don’t check luggage). I’ve also included how to recognize me. What bag I’ll be using, what I look like (yes a short (very) video, I will be wearing a mask (could very blue, pink or a black cloth). It’s August! A few less pens this month, I’m going to SF Pen Show, less than 2 weeks! I hope to meet up with YOU! I will be posting on Friday how to find me (bag I’ll have the show). It’s gorgeous! I did get the pen in a medium nib. I asked Atlas Stationers to check the nib, they did! Great customer service! My only problem is: what took me so LONG to order! Thank You for watching! Have a great day!

I’ve been obsessing over the Visconti Homi Sapiens Bronze Age. Been researching for weeks (honestly years, off and on). What made want the pen, the patina! As the bronze ages it could go to greens, darker brown. My first Grail Pen, what Do you have a Grail Pen? Please comment below. I used @jppenandink code for 10% at Atlas Pens. Check her out!

I forgot to mention that leaving Rapido-eze in your pen will not hurt it. I’ve left 100% RE in my pen for 5 days in the past and it didn’t harm anything. Took that long to dissolve an old ink stain in a hard to get to area…..
Oh that is disappointing. I don't have an 823, but do have the knock off version which is the WingSung 699 in Amber and it writes really well, no staining. Hope you are able to remove the blue over time. 🥰
@@jppenandink I’ll ask Pilot this weekend if I remember. For it stays blue, I’ll just use blue ink. The cheap one next to the Pilot in the video I’ve had 2 years and it’s had all types of ink. Still perfectly clear.
I have the 823, but in Amber, which I love
@@impish22 I’m planning on getting the amber pen at the show this weekend. I love Pilot, disappointed (they might have ideas on how to get rid of the blue), the signature nib is very nice.
You can disassemble the pen with a tool and clean it
@@elude3808 I’ll ask Pilot at the show. I know Twsbi you can, I’ve never had a Twsbi stain (it’s 32$ pen6. Thank you.
@@fountainpensinksmore3290 I've heard that Pilot has an awesome costumer service, so maybe they can replace it for you.
That will really upset me too! I won't be able to sleep until I get the stain out! 😢But I am sure there is something that can be done. When we go to Pilot's table let's ask about it! ❤ Have you tried pressure washing the stain with a syringe with pen flush in it?
@@yzapensandpaper I’ve tried everything I could think of, soaked in straight pen flush, for a few hours, several times. I thought after rinsing it out maybe the blue stain would less, nope.
@@fountainpensinksmore3290Because it might not be a stain.. If it truly stains then it should have stained more parts of the pen. Maybe the ink got inside that plastic thing in the middle.. It happened to one of my pens and pressure washing it with pen flush in a syringe worked.
but I migh be wrong. you can try it though next time.
@@yzapensandpaper it did stain the top about 1/2” I was able to remove it. I think it’s the plunger problem? I don’t know. It looks to be in the inside barrel, I’m not sure.
@@yzapensandpaper if anything else it’ll be used for blue ink, I’ll buy the amber, you recommended!

I‘m currently at 69 inked TWSBI‘s (if I counted correctly;) and will be adding the ECO Irish Green with Onyx in September. I love your rainbow ! It‘s fun to see it growing… 😊
@@Heidejournal love Twsbis, they take a beating, than say that’s all you have! I have a new Irish Green Twsbi on order. There growing quickly, hoping for a few more from the pen show.

I only have one TWSBI (Saffron Eco-T) so far, but I would like to add others to my collection with a variety of nibs. Just waiting for the right colours :)
@@deskofem they’re always adding more color, soon you’ll find the perfect Twsbi to add.
Tiger Snake and Diamine Blizzard are stand-out inks for me in this line up. Lovely!
@@deskofem both are beautiful inks. Van Diemans Cupid bow is a crazy shimmer ink, it hasn’t clogged yet!

@fountainpensinksmore3290 Jane, how lovely. I agree with you: this pen is gorgeous. It looks like everything a fine fountain pen should be ~ sturdy, lovely to look at, well made, with a really gorgeous nib! It has such an interesting, yet classic silhouette; I've always really admired that clip even though like you, I never use clips. I especially love the color-tone of the hardware: it reminds me of rose gold. I’m so happy for you that it arrived before the pen show. I am sure that whichever ink you decide to ink with, that will be the perfect one. I agree that I wouldn’t put black ink in a black pen. For one, I don’t own any black in that I have purchased, but I have a lot of Sailor and Pilot cartridges that come with pens that have black or blue-black ink in them. I think I’ve only two black pens, and one of them I got this year - that matte black TWSBI Diamond 580 ALR. I immediately put a lovely deep red in it, Wearingeul’s Captain Hook. I love red ink in a black pen, especially these TWSBI demonstrators. The other black pen is the matte black Pilot Capless (Vanishing Point), and I do have Pilot’s blue-black in it though it is much blacker than I remember from past use when it seemed like a very dark navy instead. Anyway, gorgeous pen ~ thanks so much for sharing it with us! I live vicariously through your exquisite collection. Be well my friend.
@@Neko-KittyLovesFountainPens I love my Visconti pen. My only problem with it is, why did it take me so long to buy. To touch it the pen different from any other. It’s softer, without being soft, the hook opening and closing is wonderful! I think more pens should have it. The nib is soft and bounce. I did ask Atlas check (they’re known to have problems) the nib for me. It’s prefect. I went with Pilot blue ink. I think the pen will be inked for a long time. Red inks are excellent in black pens.
@fountainpensinksmore3290 Oh Jane, Congratulations on these pens ~ SOOOO beautiful. You have such superb taste in pens!! That Baobab Leonardo is absolutely STUNNING!! It's the one I have had my eye on ever since it came out, and the only reason I haven't got it yet is because I think the circumference is wider than would be comfortable for me, but oh, I want this colorway bad! I am green with envy. 😉 Are those Mosaicos the same circumference as the Momento Zeros? If yes, I think I will spring for that one if I can find it in stock somewhere: it's just soooo stunning! Awesome bag! I actually just got the same pattern in the three-pen coozy this week. I knew I wanted one from Rickshaw and looked at their site and a bunch of other pen sites to find just the right one. I also got one from Goulet Pens that is on the way.

Met Mark at the Miami Pen show. He worked on 2 of my MB pens. Then I mentioned that I needed a fine nib for a TWSB eco. He sold me a pen and reworked the nib to perfection. Can not tell you just how happy I am with the results of his skills

@@robbourne1950 I haven’t inked it yet. It’ll be a shimmer ink, I’m testing out the Twsbi’s (putting them to work). Earl grey is in a pen, I don’t remember which one? I’ll have check when I’m home.

I’m so happy with them, 4 I was planning on looking at (buy) at SF Pen Show. Atlas has one on close out, very good price. Why I was able to buy the Twsbi’s. Parker 51 is on the list for SF Pen Show.if I don’t run out of money 😬

Thanks for sharing. It is always interesting for me to hear about how different people approach prep such as this. Saw that you had on your list under twsbi the "580 Diamine" and am curious what that is. I havent heard of it.
580 diamond, I was figuring out what Diamine inks to use for this month 😬 We all have a different approach, all are correct, it’s what works for the person.
