I'm Charles! I'm a pianist, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and music educator living in southwest Colorado. Music is my passion and I hope to share it with you!
As a music teacher I maintain an active piano and guitar teaching studio and teach in person and virtually all ages and levels.
I have a wealth of knowledge on playing piano and guitar and want to share that with you! This includes music theory (of which I am a bit of a nerd about).
But that's only half of the channel. The other half is focused on my music. I am releasing music, and also love to post random instrumentals and jams as well. I play a lot Americana, folk, bluegrass, rock, country, and blues on guitar, but on piano I mostly play classical music.
Thanks for checking out my channel, and subscribe if you like my music or want to continue leveling up your playing.

Thank you Charles....Also just learning the mandolin.
Hey that's awesome!! Any videos in particular you'd like to see about mandolin?? There's some great ones out there already, but I am planning to start teaching it in 2025 as well and plan to put more out in video form soon.
Amen, the gospel truth in Christ brotha. Hallelujah ✝️🙏
Glad you enjoyed the song! Though I'll admit the song has much more to do with my love for the Alt. Country/No Depression movement than faith for me.
you're good, don't sell yourself short. the abstract in Rusted Clouds made me think of ben gibbard
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. Awesome compliment on rusted clouds, thank you so much again!
Hmmm. I enjoyed that much more than i thought i would! Thanks! Looking forward to more.
Hey!! This comment made my day. So glad you enjoyed it! More lessons coming soon, promise!
Very nice, thank you I'm learning this song and tuning in 432hz open D 432hz tuning. Feels better and easier to sing. 432hz is the correct frequency for our bodies and earth ❤ They changed it after WW2. All the old records are in 432 Bach, Behtoven etc.. Check it out. Peace from Maryland 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! I like 432hz, but usually stick with 440 due to playing piano as well and having it tuned to 440 hz
Sounding excellent!
Great. Always loved the mandolin.
Glad you liked it Bruce!
Did you only use half the strings. That's my favorite 8 string instrument
I was more throwing shade at the ukulele. Lol but yes it's got 8 strings. And these old black diamond strings have a black pair and it's so ridiculous
Came up out of nowhere but it was really soothing, i enjoyed it
Awesome! I don't understand how UA-cam works, but I'm so glad you liked it and found it soothing!
Keep Going!!! 😉😉😉
I will! I just don't know the rest of the words. Lol I'll get the good camera and mic out this week and record it for you!
Great Stuff Buddy, Love Wilco!!!!!
Love this Charles!
Thanks lynsey!!
🙌🏿🔥
So glad you liked it!!
Kid A Kid A
Gotta call in the full string band. Lol
Lovely sound, seems like you’re missing a half a beat or something though
Where? It's a bit tricky since it switched into cut time for a measure as well. Can look at it today.
At the end of each 2nd measure. Should be 4 distinct 8th notes on the 9-and 10-and beats. Definitely not easy since before that everything is syncopated. Might be easier to try starting with those last two beats since they aren’t syncopated to get into the groove with a click for practice
Seems like you do get the 4 eight notes most times, but maybe rush the first one so it throws it off a bit
@@gabew3744 I'll go clap this out in a bit. Gotta learn the 3rd movement of a Mozart sonata now... When my head gets close to exploding I'll go play some Radiohead lol
Lol
Set up a live channel
That's a great idea! I'm approved for it, I just haven't done it. Maybe I'll give it a shot tomorrow!
Nice
Glad you like it!!! I'll eventually get the whole thing and sing it.
Sounds amazing Charles!! Great job!
Thanks Sean! Glad you enjoyed it! More tunes from the Tiny Deck coming soon.
Och, my son-in-law Theo could do better. 😄
My brother theo could do better too.
My husband Theo is pretty alright at guitar too, they should meet!
The real joke here is that Theo doesn't play guitar.
@@TheoWecker my brother theo manifests guitar instead of playing it.
Maybe these Theos should meet my son-in-law Theo. He's the best Theo.
It's in A not B minor.
Capo on 2!
And yes. My mistake.
Sounding good Charles!
Thanks Rhys!
Wonderful, Charles! Great song, singing and guitar-playing, and captures the colors of the Colorado skies!
Thank you so much!!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Terrific writing, splendid song!
Thank you!!!
Bob Dylan vibes! 👏👏👏
The highest compliment I could receive. Thank you! Check out the full video too, and it's available on all streaming services.

Love it Charles! ❤
Thanks Justine!!!
This is awesome Charles! Can't wait to see what else you put out.
Thanks Lynsey! More coming soon! Next single drops in October.
Sending love from Botswana
Thank you for listening from Africa!!
I've never found a metronome that works properly. They are always speeding up or slowing down.
I really like my Yamaha Quartz one Looks like Seiko makes a similar one now. Unfortunately don't even have an app right now because I like the quartz that much.
Personally I think a wonky metronome is a big plus. I have an analog that often divides time poorly, and I stick with it. It's about being able to adjust to music circumstances. So a perfect metronome can be great for actual precision while something like this helps not to go too much to the grid. Usually I like to improvise in free time. Also I don't like the click. It makes life easier but that also (I believe, since this is a hobby not a profession to me) makes you a bit lazy. I mean, if you're jamming in a campfire, odds are the metronome practice made it easier to keep a groove when leading but... If you're following you also need to adapt. A fun drill is recording on free time then layering stuff. I think this helps develop a bit more of an intuitive approach. Then again it's up to each
Totally agree on recording and layering! It's a great thought to have a wonky metronome for helping play with other people who are leading.
There's a phenomenon that I experience every time I do metronome. Been doing it for decades, and it never fails that there's a "slowing effect" once I'm locked in. I believe that's part of the process at this point, and I often get confirmation from my students that they feel the same.
@@BruceIsWild I can also confirm I feel the same way. Depends on the section of a piece too. For instance on raindrop the middle section feels very slow, and the beginning not so much. Time is relative, but pulse is not.
I love your interpretation of this piece, and your piano is extremely beautiful.
Thank you so much! I'll hopefully be getting another piano video up this week or next.
@@charleswecker Nice! I'm excited for it.
Anything in particular you'd love to hear?
@@charleswecker I really like Gnossienne 2, and I think your interpretation of Satie's pieces is on point.
@@AbissoInteriore thank you again! I'll work on polishing it up (been a month or 2 since I played it)

Thank you! I absolutely will. Been working on some Chopin and Mozart, but I should dust off 2 other gnossienne
