I hate that horse shit about "only someone who had seen waht he saw and had his survival skills from the holocaust, could have done what he did". He was a good man who used his own body as a shield for others to escape, not John Rambo. Anyone with the proper motivation could have done what he did, not to take anything away from him but I think people in general deserve more credit than that.

Politics aside, as a Romanian-American (though not Jewish), what I really find downright baffling is there's a note at Wikipedia is that the Romanian parliament had posthumously awarded Dr. Librescu its highest civilian honor (which he rightfully deserved, don't get me wrong). However, I don't know how many out there can understand Romanian, you google his name in Wikipedia's Romanian language site, and there's not a single mention of it although there is an extensive bio of him and the tragedy.

What an amazing man! If everyone showed one tenth of the courage, integrity and kindness he showed the world would be a better place
