My daughter singing along to "I Have A Dream"
This is my favorite chapter in the book. When she needed to lie when Marilla doesn't believe her. That's sad at the same time funny.
Mariela must have February birthday amethyst is birthstone

I love this scene! This one and mouse who drowned in the sauce! Great miniseries. Makes me long for the days when the Disney Channel showed wonderful shows like this one!
I thought it was PBS (Public Broadcast) that showed it first?
@@parplus2556 It was first on Disney Channel in 1985 and then was shown on PBS February 1986.

No one should be manipulated into a relationship or sex. Ever.
I hope you find help for yourself.
I’m telling you it is wrong to blindfold someone and try to force them into sex.
Um...what?
Hey this has nothing to do with the topic at hand!
The hell are you talking about?
I’m not trying to be unfair. I just got a magic phone in the mail when I got here and I had never played this game before so it is still a shock to me that people are stealing peoples assets by making them watch Newman Gopherwood videos for months at a time and draining their bank accounts - including my savings in exchange for some man in my bed. You can wheel out all the stories you want to- nothing will justify what has happened to me by coming here.
I can so identify with Anne. I’m way too direct myself and I do not lie. I really don’t know why people have made it difficult for me to get medical care that would be considered appropriate any other place but in a fundraising company while thrusting men at me. As if any self-respecting man would want a wife under duress of some kind

I know it would be wrong, and I could possibly end up regretting it, but I'd insist on doing what Marilla threatened and make her suffer the pain of taking me to Mrs. Blouitts when I knew she really didn't want to🥺
One of the best lines ever.
You cut out the best part: Marilla apologizing to Anne for having punished her for something she didn't do. It can be very humbling for a parental figure to admit to a child that they were wrong, but Marilla did this. More parents should admit to their children when they are wrong, instead of doubling down. It's a hard lesson to learn, and one I'm still learning.
Yeah. I want to see that too.

She was the best Anne of Green Gables ever

If I had a child that said that to me especially after I had been so tough on them I would be gutted - Marilla knew she was guilty as charged and had to accept responsibility for Anne feeling this way.
I get teary watching this show. It was such a safe time in my life when I first saw it. My hometown was different but similar in ways. Such a distant memory now, yet here is Anne, perfectly preserved as though nothing changed.
I so agree. A simpler time in life where I felt safe & watching it now brings such a sense of peace 🙏❤️
Anne improved the lives and characters of everyone around her, starting with Marilla.
Similar to Hayley Mills in Pollyanna
Whoa! The way Marilla was grinding her teeth can make the viewer that she wanted to throw Anne off an ocean cliff.
What you can do, is pack your bags and start imaging your life with Mrs. Buelt.,.
This is the first big moment that Anne made an impact on Marilla’s character.
I had a crush on Megan, I found her beautiful even wearing those rags from the orphanage. I wish I could find somebody like her. Intelligent, beauty, so romantic, with an air of proud, and so loving. I hope.

“You wouldn’t believe the truth …” I thought she said she put it back on the pin cushion, but that’s not where it was found. So why did she say that?
The answer is in the book: Marilla wore her scarf and put it on top of the dresser after Anne hat put back the brooch. The brooch got caught in the scarf and when Marilla removed the scarf she unknowingly took the brooch with it.
@@svenjas1201 oh okay! Thanks for the clarification…
Watch the movie
@@svenjas1201 what I don’t understand is she says she checked everywhere even the cracks in the floor but yet she never checked her shawl apparently because who finds it there?, Matthew finds it there.
This is one of the major plot discrepancies between the book and the show that irritates me.
Why is that?
@@hayliedlr Marilla never did anything remotely like this in the book. She told Anne she couldn't go to a picnic, Marilla found the brooch on her shawl when she went to talk to Mrs. Lynde.
@@AlbertaRose94 She did actually - Anna had to stay in her room until she’d ”confess”. They only changed the moment she found the brooch - it makes sense, they cannot include all of it into the movie/series. And they added Matthew to the scene.
@@flav2689 I think Alberta meant the part where Marilla threatened to send Anne to Mrs. Blewett, that wasn't in the book.
@@AlbertaRose94 If you want to see an almost 1 to 1 adaptation of the first book, you should watch Akage no Anne, it's 50 episodes long and fully dubbed. A great binge watch as well!
"You wouldn't believe the truth." For a child, the realization that a parent not only doesn't trust you, but always thinks the worst of you, is a bitter pill to swallow. Because what comes along with that is the realization that your parents aren't perfect, which can be disillusioning. When you think the adults always know how to handle every situation and you find out they don't, that can shake you a bit.
what a dunb thing to say. you dont know real life! real life is way harsher.
Indeed. Rely on your parents but be ready for independence.
The Simple Plan Of Salvation. King James Version Holy Bible John 3:16-17 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:18-21 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Acts 16:31 “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Prayer of Salvation: “Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I need you. I believe that you died on the cross for me. Forgive me of my sins. I open the door of my heart and life to you. I receive you as my Saviour, come into my life and save me. Thank you for what you did on the cross for me. "Amen.”
There are many people these days who refuse to accept the truth. Unfortunately, it is causing wars and death
One thing about Anne, that Marilla was quick to find out, is that she never lied. She had a vivid imagination, but she never lied or failed to admit her mistakes.
Indeed.
Pack your bag scene is not form the book
And?
There is A LOT from the adaptation not in the book and a lot of the book not in the adaptation!! Remember, this is an ADAPTATION. In fact, the adaptation set the story about 10-15 years later than the timeline in the books, in order to take advantage of fashion changes and color palette of the LATE Victorian and Edwardian period-- as it would simply film better. That time shift also put the ending of the original series right before WW1 when in the books (and where that abysmal Sequel picked up), it was Anne and Gilbert's son who goes off to war.
That’s true. But I believe it was only a threat which showed how angry and disappointed Marilla was. Maybe they wanted to ”fill a gap” to add more drama.
That’s right. By this point in the book when the broach thing happened, Marilla and Mathew already agreed to keep Anne, and Anne had already become friends with Diana.
"You wouldn't believe the truth" Dang it Anne 🥲
Anne was nothing if not creative and imaginative.. and what better way to drive a point home. If you're going to punished for something and they don't believe the truth.. make the "reason" really, really good!!
@@creativewriter3887 Exactly 👌🏼
@@creativewriter3887 This is actually how some criminals are created - they spend their lives not committing crimes because they don't want to be arrested, then they're wrongfully arrested so figure if they're going to be punished for something they didn't do it, they may as well do something.
Thank you.
