Good stuff takes me back to my childhood days in New England. As a child on a small farm, I spent most of my time outside every day. The fall time is especially notable. Being outside every day chasing the cows back to pasture before dark was my job. So, I was able to see the peak colors. Maple trees would explode with a glow for only a few days, so being outside at that time just happened to be a part of my daily routine. Every year I would stop and stare at the glowing tree with wonder. How can a tree actually make light was my thinking. And chasing the cows back to pasture in the rain was a quiet spiritual experience. Listening to rain drops patter patter patter onto the fallen leaves and soon the daily chore turned into a journey of meditation. Even the cows seemed to enjoy the patter of rain on the freshly fallen leaves. Many thanks.
