I prefer the old salford before the demolition!.
I am 78 and i was born in ordsal i lived in south short st howarths mill was at one end of the street and ordsal park was at the other end i had many happy days playing in the street all day i remember making a maypole and singing and dancing for the millhands at lunch times it was the happiest days of my life i look back with such fond memories 😢
Lovely presentation, thanks. Nowadays with rents, gas , electricity being totally disproportionately high in costs the working class people can’t afford much, let alone socialise in pubs , cinemas etc. Eccles
Where is she now ?
I know Irene she lives on Nine Acre Court well she did when i was there a few yrs ago. I also know John Howels i went to school with him ive not seen him for a few yrs but he was delivering packages last time i seen him
Could never understand why it was called MANCHESTER DOCKS,😮
I’ve seen loads of pictures of old Salford and ordsall but never seen a picture of old west park street where I was born and went to school at ordsall board school, I left ordsall when I was fifteen to little hulton, I’m now 82 I now live in Lincolnshire and l would love to see a picture of west park street, my name is Peter Lythgoe maybe someone will remember my family ?
I think I might be related to you my name was Kirk and I think my father James Kirk may have been your fathers step brother 😮
I wish I'd have known about this. I lived in Ordsall (West PArk St.) from 1958 until 1986 (Napier Green from '74), and have so many photos which will be lost once I'm gone. Me, my brother and three friends once had our photos taken in the street (I still have a copy), but the man taking them was only interested in making money, not keeping them for posterity. It has to be said that, in the end, Ordsall was a good place to escape from.
Bill William lingwood R.i.p God bless
My grandparents lived at 5 Tatton Street in the 60's. I was an early teen living in Stretford then, but I spent a lot of time in Salford. Prior to moving to Tatton street my grandparents were licensees at 'The Britannia hotel' (Ordsall), and then the 'The Cattle market Tavern' on Cross Lane. Now in my 70's, I live in Australia, but I watch these you-tube clips because I still have a love for the old Salford and its people.
I hope to God that people around the world take something from this. Salfordians are the most wonderful, considerate people in the world. You just have to know them.

I was Christened in St Clements in 1964, lived in Brassington street until 69/70 , the cobbled streets, the rag and bone man. My nana and grandad Mitchell around the corner. remember playing and picnicing with my mam and dad in Ordsall park. My dad worked on the docks and at Kraft in Trafford Park. I remember with affection those times, even if sometimes it was a little scary. We moved to Girvan , Scotland in 1973 after my brother was mugged for his Annual school dinner money which he was carrying..Cheers Ian McGeechan
A cracking song written by Nick and Warren. Just a shame Blondie never used it, as Debbie's vocals really suit the lyrics.
Pig in a pram😀

Went out with a girl from Ordsall. Rough as anything. Lived down Pomona Street. Never again.
Wow watching that was amazing.maureen was our neighbour on guy Fawkes street.she passed away recently.
What a outstanding documentary I’ve really enjoyed this any more What Loving memories Of Salford The people of Salford are the toughest people ever and god bless each of them,, They never had it easy and they all still got on well - was so unreal how they suffered because the council took years to do anything for them,, For all those who passed since this came out years ago may they all rest in peace in heaven and god bless all the loving family’s and dear friends from Salford (( These videos are the history of Salford and I can’t believe how it was for them
Thanks for sharing this. I had heard that Blondie did a couple of songs with TV Mania(Warren and Nick from DD), but had never heard them.
Fantastic video this :)
Wow. This was not a good fit for Blondie at all. I knew this track was on Pop Trash and was originally written for Debbie Harry, but I had no idea how much Warren and Debbie disliked each other or the full backstory to it. On another note, I miss Warren in the band, especially songs he helped write. Ordinary World is simply not the same with the other players. He was far and away superior. His politics and his personality.... well, that is very iffy.
I'll bite. What's the backstory that Debbie and Warren disliked each other? I think the only account I read about this was in Gary Valentine's (x-Blondie member) autobiography.
I loved it. I miss my old salford.
My mum was born near here. Across the road, Weaste I think. Salford Quays improvements??? The streets have American names for gods sake!! Some talk a lot of shite.
Ralph Brookes took a hell l of a lot of cine films of salford. He and his wife Lizzy had a paper shop near Ordsall park.
Donkey stoneing the front step.
Love this version , wish it were a duet
Who is the Liverpudlian poet? so talented, I saw him over 13 years ago at the Bridgewater Hall. I never knew his name
Martin Harrison HI his name is Terry Caffrey
This is scary😱
I like Durans version better
This one was not polished. It's a demo
I love Akala!!! He is genuinely woke!!
Excellent!!! Loving the videos.
Who is this man? Shouldn't he be in the lifeboat, not floating on the sea?
Public angings, and gang fights with cheetham Hill,we made our own entertainment in them days.
Tough place pal ?
geoff edwards we called them raids !.
@@mrj57f Bit older than me, we called it kicking off.
I haven't seen this before. It is brilliant.
I haven’t either, really enjoyed 😊
The
Blondie, Duran Duran and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. They all make my days bright.
Me TOO
La più bella donna mai esistita..Debbie Harris
Enjoyed watching this. I'm 62 and have lived in Ordsall for the past 25 years but remember clearly when the area was all 2 up 2 down cobbled streets with shops and pubs and a sense of community. Unfortunately all long gone.
,CRAZY,
I love Blondie but I'm glad this is Duran's song now, their version is terrific.
This film was made possible by a Sharing Heritage Grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund
right, money no object, you can afford to slow it down so people can enjoy it!.
I wish this song had been on The Curse Of Blondie.
Brilliant!
Is this Carrie from west Hallam?
thank you god bless us
This album should be a movie!
It was a play :-)
Deborah ALWAYS made me VERY horny
