Deuteronomy 32:8-9 is a continuation of the Babel story. Without it, we would not have a full understanding of what took place at Babel, particularly with reference to the "sons of God" and the supernatural realm.
“The Babel event marks Yahweh disowning the nations of the world as his human family in favour of electing Israel, whom he will also use to reclaim the nations as his people.”

You may come to this later on, but the expression 'all things visible and invisible' in the Nicene Creed must have been informed by Colossians 1:16: 'For in Him [the Son of God] were created all things, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or lordships or principalities or authorities; all things have been created through Him and unto Him'.
Interesting thought that it (unbelief in supernatural realities) may have been an example of an over reaction to medieval Roman Catholicism. It has struck me before that several of the leading reformers were university men and possibly overly rationalistic. One of the worst examples was Zwingli's rejection of the truth that the bread and wine of the communion service become to us who believe the body and blood of the Lord Jesus. From memory Wycliffe had a similar view - he also was a university man.

I have a question. Right toward the end of lectures 2, you say that the sons of god went into the daughters of men. Do you mean it sexually or incarnated?
Thank you for your question. I was referring to Genesis 6:1-4. Where it says that "the sons of Godé took wives from the "daughters of man" ... "they came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them." If the sons of God are the supernatural beings spoken of elsewhere in the OT, then there was some kind of interaction between these beings and female human beings which produced offspring called the Nephalim. I will be talking more about that in the next series on May 25 and June 1.
