Collecting Rain Water Off My Roof
We get plenty of droughts here in the South in Zone 7 so I’ve always wanted my own rain capture system. This is how I built mine using a simple 55 gallon drum & a gutter kit. Do yiu have a rain barrel?

It’s almost gardening season so start saving up those eggshells! But the reason might not be what you think! This is how I make water-soluble calcium from eggshells. Foliar feeding like this is a great way to get your plants a head start this upcoming season. Credit to the University of Hawaii’s white paper on this KNF method if you want to dive into the science. When do you pick a watermelon?
Переглядів 1,5 тис.Рік тому
There’s nothing like growing your own watermelons. This season I grew my own Sugar Baby watermelons and they’re amazing. They’re an icebox variety meaning they’re quite small but grow fast and taste delicious. Each one is about 6-8 pounds but that’s enough for 2-3 people in my household. Each plant produces around 4-5 watermelons, but be aware like all melons, they sprawl like crazy! If you hav...

This kind of set up is great for growing microgreens and getting p...
Potatoes grown in bags??
Переглядів 30 тис.Рік тому
This season I decided to grow my potatoes in a grow bag instead of in the ground. And it worked! I really like grow bags as they’re reusable, moveable and I can easily harvest from them. In a grow bag setting I could also test the all important question, does seed potato size matter?

Garden to table zucchini salsa
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
Growing zucchini is really satisfying because it grows so fast and you can harvest nearly every other day. But with that productivity means we have to get creative eating it. Here’s a simple recipe inspired by one of my favorite local restaurants. Ingredients: 2 zucchinis (courgette) 2 poblano peppers (or Anaheim) 1 cup cilantro (coriander leaves) 1 cup Mexican crema or sour cream Juice of 1 li...

Shut the front door it took one season for a full egg to fully decompose and become bioavailable thank you true science 👍
I was waiting but ladybugs aren't coming what should i do ?
Thanks for reviewing this. I was always curious about how effective these were. 👍👏
Got one awhile ago works well gos to shit eventually tho
What is the reason for baking them ?
I live in Oregon. I bought one a few years ago. I'm in my 60's and I was able to put it together by myself. It was going great had it full of seed trays. We got a lot of rain and it puddled and bent the poles. I have a second one I will use it next year. I will have to tie jute or something across the top so the water can't puddle and bend the poles. I used the included stakes to ground them and I was amazed how many seed trays I could put in them. I look forward to spring.😊
Mint usually grow with less help..every now and then just dig some soil around in pot not hurting the roots.
June and August
Soaking peppers in vinegar does not make sauce.
Neen oil $99 gallon 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
May I make a suggestion? BEFORE you add the bag of castings, I would suggest allowing the tap (chlorinated / fluorinated) water to offgas with the oxygen infusion. Any chlorine in the water is already killing the microbes. To be safe, I bubble my water for 24 hours min. Or you can boil water on the stove for a minimum of 30 minutes … let it cool. (Worm farmer and rose Gardner here :) )
Only go locally.
Where are your posts from
can i microwave instead of bake?
Carolina Wren! 🐦
Does size of plant matter? My plants are uber small and the cucumbers under the flowers are incredibly tiny. Like barbie sized...will they get bigger? Should I transplant them somewhere with more sun?
Too many...did treat my plants...dig worms out of stems..plants still sick..pulled my plants and burned them...dug up my area...replanted with green beans...
Yes. I hand-picked. I go out several times a day.
If you burn the eggs, they pop like popcorn
Using Dawn Dish soap works.. that virtuous brand of garbage doesnt do anything as a useful product, in a long line of others from said brand. BLUE dawn dish soap works for all insect issues that it can be applied to, including rain barrels for mosquitos. 2-3tbsp per barrel.
thank you, it was very helpful!
Could someone please tell me if this works for house plants as well?? Thank you in advance for answering
❤
Add a wood dowel inside the top 4 pcs for added strength
Didn't finish the video. The music is annoying!
cute, you mean you didn't anchor this into the dirt?? must not be very windy there
I feed them to my bearded dragon, he loves them.
Carolina wren! Cute little things
Stink bugs
I have sexually aided cucumbers before. Not proud of it but someone had to do it. Not sure what the darn bees were doing! 😊
You have found a Carolina wren ❤
Finally I figured it out , thanks to you @!
They are really good with the hot climates, I live in south central Texas and they grow a lot of peppers I grew one this year. They also came out hotter than my habaneros somehow. And the flesh is very tender when ripe with a somewhat bitter smokey burn.
Great idea
Yea but Hugelkultur needs years to be at their prime and have all the qualities one offers, i did 2 beds as a trial one old rotted wood and another with fallen logs but were still heavy and had that fresher stump bed took 5 years it still r worked but now it producing the other bed w rotten wood that can be pulled apart by hand took id say 2.5 years. Fresh wood when decomposing underground in a hugel takes a lot of nitrogen from your soil leading to deficiencies . Also they need to know about hugelkultur and what it does and how it works before throwing a ton of fresh branches & stumps People need to know before filling a bed with half ton branches n logs, buy soil by the load you can diy or pay them to unload it but u can get as little as a half yard , it took me 3-4 yards to do my whole garden and its was like 30 a yard delivered but id expect to pay higher prices if they don’t offer lower quantities but smile and be nice say your interested in this they’ll almost make an exception . Hope someone reads this its not any BS rant i know y’all hate reading paragraphs but its a good thing to consider, dont wanna fugg up a bed for some time or three.
Can I propagate from your Mexican Crema tree?
My season is not long enough to afford doing this 😢
I use a small artist brush
Ez egy nagy baromság
I have that exact one on my deck. I used conduit straps to hold mine down.
what are those??
@oliviastar3812 basically small metal brackets that are used in some construction or plumbing to mount potable water lines to walls or wood structures. Cheap and easy. I didn't want to clutter my greenhouse with weight on the bottom. I used all the racjs and the bottom as well.
I got one and have it in between my trailer and back porch with a shade cloth over it happily housing my philodendrons and monsteras
Thankyou ❤
Yeah, I live in Kansas and that would blow away in a heartbeat so on. Top of building that now I have to buy some sort of stakes to go in the ground to put inside of the PVC pipes. Hopefully that will be enough
Cal Mag supplement. Easy to use as a soil drench, or foliage spray. It also has trace iron and a bit of nitrogen.
What is the name of the variety of garlic did you grow? Thank you!
There no reason to top cut so much of your plant off. Just snip or pluck the very top growth node. That’s all you gotta do to initiate growth on the lower nodes
1200 sq ft roof yields 350 gallons per inch of rain. You need a bigger barrel.
I heard they are going to make rain water collection federally illegal in the US soon
Not sure, but I know regulations vary from state to state in the US
But when it rains, you don't need to water the garden.Than you got water you can't safely drink and adding chemicals so it doesn't grow tons of algae and than the m
This is for storing non-drinking water when I experience weeks on end without a rain. It’s nice to have a source of non-potable water around.
Get the Eagle Peak pop up its okay
