    LOL, when I was in college everyone was wearing bleach washed Levi's bibs. It was a status symbol to show up in class wearing them in the Midwest. It was the greatest day when I finally had the money to buy a pair. I still have them, in very good condition. Can't get into them but I have no intentions of parting with them.

    I wear 'em occasionally too. My number one dislike is that the bib pockets tend to empty themselves when I sit down, say, in the bathroom 😵‍💫. Pencils, glasses, cellphone, etc can get away from you in those instances. Lately I've been wearing carpenter pants so all such "stuff" is in leg pockets and thus avoids that problem. But, of course, pants do require a beltline which at our age isn't comfortable when working while bent over at the waist for any length of time. I suppose I could compromise and get a larger waist size pant and use suspender/braces/galluses, but I'm not really into the Amish look at the present moment... Thanks for sharing. I'm going to get a pair of my bibs out and wear them tomorrow...

    • @russveinot5754
      @russveinot5754 9 днів тому

      I used to wear suspenders but prefer bibs. With carpenter pants, you got the belt and shirt tail issue still. I'll check with you later and see how it went :>). When sitting down, I hold them flatly in between my feet and pick them by the buttons when done. Seems to keep stuff in my pockets. It takes practice . . . practice . . . practice :>).

    I have as much alternate sources of heat and light as I can manage without breaking the bank. The one thing I am concerned about is finding a source for the medicines I need as a senior citizen. Reaching 73 in a very short time and I have to have Coumadin daily to prevent clotting since I have a mechanical heart valve. Coumadin, i.e. warfarin, is readily available in the form of rat poison but since the idea is just to kill rats and mice quality control is suspect. I'm taking 7.5 milligrams daily. Not much but that makes it more difficult. Double the dose and I bleed out from a cut. So that is the one thing I don't currently have a backup plan for. Possibilities include aspirin that is OTC and long shelf life also thins blood. Dosage is also a problem. I did get a little machine that reads my INR as long as I have the little chips that it reads. The script is for 3 months at a time. Not long enough. I'd be interested to hear if you or anybody has a work around. Thanks 😁😎

    Thanks Russ. I am not the electrical DYI guy like you are. But as a result of your previous FOGS videos, several months ago I bought a Jackery battery back up. It is large enough to keep a couple of lights on and run our refrigerator for 24 hours. It helps during those limited few hours where our power is out. We have a propane fireplace for heat in the winter. It has come in useful on several occasions already and I have appreciated having it on hand. Thanks for you advice, it has made our FOGS situation much easier. Cheers

      I used to use a smaller backup battery and plugged in certain items. I also used my car to recharge instead of having a generator. It worked fine for years. I finally decided to upgrade to a more perpetual system. The cost is always a big factor. My issue now is I keep a freezer and 2 refrigerators and could lose almost as much in food as I spent on Fogs. Your simple system is definitely a good alternative in some situations. I am humbled that I could inspire you. Thanks Dave

    I have 8 woodworking vises, and I use the Zyliss the most. I turned a large knob with a speed-bar for the screw and it's good for most purposes. I also glued thick leather to the jaws. But the best modification was done to the clamps. I drilled a 1/4" hole through the top of the clamps in line with the wing screws. Then I clamp the vise on the bench and drill into the benchtop through the holes, and then insert a 1/4" pin. This prevents creeping of the vise clamps.

    • @jonathanrand7767
      @jonathanrand7767 Місяць тому

      I'm going to get some rug grip tape for the clamps and see how that works before drilling any holes but now I've got a backup plan!

    • @russveinot5754
      @russveinot5754 Місяць тому

      Just a thought, drill holes in the clamps and then make a small pad with rug grip on underside and a dowel sticking out the top. Then the pad will hold to tabletop and the dowel will hold clamp in place. No holes need to be drilled in tabletop. You can still move the vise around without leaving holes. I use a "cheater" block that slips over the tightening wing on the clamp and that gives me extra torque to tighten clamp. I find it never moves when tightened this way. Hey Jon, I thought I saw a cheater block in one of the pics you sent me.
