Awesome video my friend, I love all these bridges.
Wow! A four element full sized 40 meter beam being serviced by a blind man on top of a 120 foot tower! Amazing!
Rob is the MAN! Insane, yes, but he's the man!
Such a beautiful boat.
Yak, yak , yak…Couldn’t hear a thing the man was saying
Some women are compulsive talkers, usually about nothing important. I used to ignore that, but now it has become really irritating, as in this video.
Wonderful boat !!! … too bad folks can’t find a similar boat for a lot less money !!!
Such a beauty. Classic, elegant, and sleek. That would be fun to wake behind
Just finished my 46' Deluxe Runabout. Maiden launch will be spring 2021
Classic
It is located on Oregon and Locust Streets. I have seen the tower, I thought at first it the UP tower by the tracks.
That is absolutely gorgeous!!!
Best setup on the web!
Tell the ladies to be quiet during the video so we can hear you not them
Tell the ladies to be quiet. You got to be kidding!😂
born and raised in Gridley. cant figure out this location...???
You need a hazer you can ride up and a crow's nest on top plumbed with AC for a radio and small fridge full of IPAs!
im very new to this and have been strying to melt iron in a home made furnace. graphite crucible with charcoal fuel blasted by air. its melted the crucible as i believe the heat was too concentrated. is gas better or are there any tips i can use for doing with coal/charcoal. thanks
gorgeous
He is pouring Bronce not iron, or does it iron.??
cool!
It looks like I have that same burner. I poured some bronze investment castings, lost wax. Ok, salt for de-gassing aluminum, should I put a complete uniform layer of salt over my aluminum, or just throw a pound in the pot and let the aluminum get under it? I am just about to make another attempt at it. The last time I was trying to just reclaim the stuff into ingots and lost too much heat to get a good fluid in an uninsulated propane tank with my torch poked into the side of it. And it seemed I had a horrible amount of slag.. that's where the salt would come in I bet. Thanks, great video! Mark
Nice to see some one doing home casting with good safety gear on, nice pour Rick, I will stick to my alloy and brass for now,
Wait wait wait... If you are melting iron, why are you melting it in a IRON crucible and pouring it in an IRON mold?
He's melting it in a Graphite crucible, it has extremely high temperature resistance. And yes he is poring it into a iron pan, but liquid iron is not hot neither to fully melt room temperature iron. It will get very hot but not melt.
Maple Syrup Thank you. I thought he said in the video he was using an iron crucible.
what is the container made from?
This is my family work in Damascus, Syria
Steel, my bad....
You obviously think I am made of metal, I get that all the time although I am not the "man of steal."
Hello, How cost effective is pouring your own cast-iron stuff? I'd love to make unique cookware that usually costs a ton...
LOL look at that thing it's like a rocket engine.!!Nice thanks What mix of metals was added before the smelt..
when you piged your iron in the tray. wouldn't the iron have fused with the steel tray?
Nice furnace.
What is the container made of ? I would like to know I'm makeing one but idk exactly how
Danaoe. For aluminum you want to either use an inert gas or something with chlorine in it to tie up the hydrogen into hydrogen chloride. Normally people will use iodized salt. Its diet table salt. You can also get aluminum degassing compound at budget casting supply. Those three things I have had the best luck with
Hi R.H. I'm enjoying your video's. I have a question about the degassing medium, what do you use for the alluminum ? I'm wanting the best quality casting I can get, I know you want to remove hydrogen amoung other things. I've read most of the comments and can't find the answer, Google say's to use forms of inert gas injection but I think that's too hard for home hobby foundry types like how want to operate. Thank you
i think with good reasons also, very good of him.
BUEN TRABAJO
is the container ceramic?
The pour was, in fact, iron. I am including a link in the video description to show some of the items poured. As These are parts for antique electric fans that otherwise are not available. The pouring of iron in the cricible furnace takes it to it's upper temperature limit. I have had more melts fail than succeed due to difficulty reaching the required temperatures. My plans include building a new cuploa furnace for iron.
I don't believe that this is iron being poured. I say that because it doesn't seem hot enough, and he never shows what the heck he is making. Ta' dum.
Im trying to learn how the ancent norse made steel using preindustrial methods. and tips or leads (as crucibles and fuels used?)
First guy on youtube I seen use all the safety gear :)
Hello I'm from Brazil, which the crucible material is made?
@111fishkiller The video is actually a compilatoin of two or three iron melting sessions. I don't recall everything, but I think I was reproducing some parts for turn-of-the-century electric fans. Collecting antique fans is another hobby of mine.
@dhlocker The scariest part is lifting the full cricible waist high and setting it into the pouring shank. A broken or spilled crucible at the wrong moment could be really painful.
@Runescapeguides110 I have melted bullet casings. A component of brass is zinc. Brass also contains lead and copper. The color of the brass or bronze depends upon the ratio of the white metals (lead and zinc) to the red metals (copper).
@CsaptukEst , The crucible is made of graphite. Actually there are better furnaces and methods for melting iron. The furnace in the video is really better suited for brass/bronze/aluminum. Iron really pushes its limits.
are you familiar with melting fired rifle brass(brass rifle cartridges). ive read that it contains 30% zinc and i dont know how the vapors escaping effects the zinc percentages and how it effects the brass. do you have any suggestions.
Great job! Looks like you have many safety features thought-out and well executed...
Why does no one ever bother to say what they are casting? Were U making a bell, cornbread pans,Skillet?
I like the expanded metal basket surrounding the pouring shank after the transfer from the furnace. Very clever means of containing a blowout at a point where it could occur.
Sweet job Rick! nice clear vid.
