these movies are not for soft heart, for me is fiction, the reality is more cruel...
You are right. Definitely not for the soft of heart but the tension keeps the movies exciting.
Very interesting review. I will definitely watch these.
Really good pointer for people who know very little about korean cinema. Its got my movies for the next few weeks sorted. thanks , hope you do some more reviews of world cinema.
excellent list
Solid list. I need to check out a few of these. The Shining’ is my favorite “horror” movie as well & in my top 5 favorite movies overall. Also, do you have a Letterboxd account?
Thanks. The Shining is probably up there in most lists, honestly. I haven't got a Letterboxd but I was actually thinking about creating an account to help track everything.
Signed up. DeepVoice as user. 👍
Fortunately the cat wasnt smiling.....
All my attention is in the cat 🥰🥰
The film does specify, she's 50! Harvey said at 60 it STOPS, leaving the viewer to surmise that she is 50!
Yes, watched it a second time at the cinema and caught this. 👍
How can a sex-ploitaion film effectively do battle with…sex-ploitation? How can actresses who radically conform to beauty standards (via plastic surgery) be integral exemplars for young women? Why would any integral actress participate in, and promote, a sex-ploitation/Roman Colloseum flick? Will this movie stop women of all ages, from the natural desire, of wanting to appear beautiful in public? Will a sexy girl running around in her underwear make viewers think differently about sexual assault?
Some interesting points you raise here. This movie definitely gets people thinking and I think that's a testament to its success.
i just got home from watching this film. it was truly an experience, stamping it a cult classic now. also im the type to get home after the theatre and watch reviews on horror films here on youtube, im excited to have stumbled across your video. can’t wait for more reviews from you. wishing you so much success ♡
@@davenguzman I'm glad you enjoyed the movie as much as I did. Definitely going to be a cult classic. Thank you for your support!
Just came out of the theatre from watching this and I totally agree! What a visceral experience
It certainly was. Certain moments too much so perhaps.
THANKS GOD : Fortunately, I didn't know that the movie Substance was a horror film because I never watch horror movies. I'm too sensitive. And I'm a 45yrs old lady. It hadn't crossed my mind that it could be an actual horror film from the trailer. Just thought it would be a one of kind intense suspens movie. Oh boy... . So I left before the last 30 minutes because I thought that the person who imagined this film was too psychologically disturbed. Feeling like a waste of my time and I went to bed very annoyed by the crazyness. BUT, I woke up this morning realizing and understanding all the many subtle messages underneath, after all the discomfort of the images... and those messages are magnificent! It’s written indeed in the film: “it will change your life.” I woke up this morning and indeed, it has changed my life. I remembered that society, as it is structured, puts such pressure on body image and success, that it drives crazy any human being who has a very harsh image of their body and is unable to accept it as it is. As a result, this brings problems of bulimia, perfectionism, loneliness and madness. All displayed properly in the movie. It also highlights the fact that when we are still young, during the part of youth (every second week in the movie so the parallel helps us witness the direct impacts), we abuse our bodies out of selfishness and fear of rejection, but all this will have an impact on our health when we are old. So Good luck to all the social media haters who judge others and actors for their physical appearance. Now I'm just happy, I don't care. If people criticize me, find me old or ugly, I don't care. I'm just happy not to be 85yrs old yet and not to have skin and knee and health problems 😅. So there you go, because everyone will surely one day suffer too from health, skin, and knee/back problems, and they will be 85 too If they are lucky enough not to have collapsed from a cancer beforehand, then stop criticizing other appearances 🤷🏻 we should also be happy not to all look alike lol since accepted beauty is very limited to a certain body type. Last but not least, The actress Demi Moore has all my respect; I have never seen an actor give so much of themselves! ❤
The film certainly isn't for everybody in terms of the visuals. I'm glad it still got you thinking and thanks for sharing! All great points.
During an interview on the Seth Myers show, Demi said out of everything in the film, Dennis eating four pounds of shrimp and the way he bit the heads clean off with the sound edits grossed her out the most😂 I can't wait to see this. Thank you for adding the hype. ❤
@@GDeNofaThanks for sharing! It was one of my favourite scenes. Definitely hinting at the horrors to come. You'll love it.
Looking forward to watching this after seeing your review. Great job, liked and subscribed, would love to see you do more
I think this movie is really going to do well at the box office. It is the only film I wanted to see this year.
I agree, I think it will do really well. I can't wait for the 'Nosferatu' release in December.
Your a natural at film reviewing, keep it up! Subscribed straight away, And yes 'The Substance' was amazing! Exceeded expectations!
Thank you for the support, much appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed the movie as much as I did.
Thank you for your great review. I can't wait to see the movie!! I subscribed to your channel too ❤
Thank you very much for your support. I'm sure you'll have fun watching this one. 😁
I've watched this 4 times, but 4th one was defenitelly too much 😅 I think it should be judged more for a drama and thriller, than horror. Horror is mainly in 3rd act.
@@gawel772 I will be watching again but maybe not 4 times. 😂 Yes, it builds up to the horror elements. Definitely a thriller for the majority. Thanks for the comment.
Hey, i watched this movie in a "scream unseen" too, here in Ireland. Definetelt supporting this channel!
Thanks for the support from Ireland! 😲 What did you think of the film?
@@DeepDarkVoice 10/10. It was a wild ride, i did not expect at all that it was such a crazy movie. I think it is the first time that i didnt even feel the length of the movie
@@angelojavier8672 I thought exactly the same. Didn't drag at all and I would have watched another hour. 😂

Oh Wow!!! Dont know if this is one to watch or avoid! Great review though.
Just saw the movie tonight. Was so hyped for it and man I was lost for words after it finished. Craziest movie I’ve seen in a long time. A great experience.
It was so good. The ending had people laughing too which is always fun to experience. Thanks for sharing.
I’m intrigued! Definitely gonna watch it !
A good review.👍
