Johnny by Hadija Namale & Ziwuuna BAND
Hadija Namale is the nom de guerre of Jane Frances Kiryangokibi, a phenomenally gifted Ugandan singer, composer, guitarist and accomplished conga drums player. She started her music career in the mid 1960s, singing some of the sweetest songs that defined the 60s/early 70s era. Hadija sang with Susana Band, White NIle Club and recorded numerous hit songs with Ndugwa's Top Ten Jazz Band. Namale has sung with most of the giants of Uganda's 1960s music fraternity - Juma Odundo, Eclas Kawalya, and Fred Masagazi. After a hiatus of more than 35 years, Hadija, at 72-years of age, returned to the studio in 2018. She collaborated with Frank Mbalire and Sammy Kasule's Ziwuuna BAND to release a number of delightful songs, including Johnny. On Johnny, Namale is joined by Sammy Kasule who delivers incredible vocal harmony.
