A short snippet of gameplay from my next HP2 custom map: Advent of The Nightly Orb Pt.2
There's still a while to go, but i thought it was fun to show a little bit of gameplay from a finished area, (there's more to this area that was not shown in the video)
I will continue on working on this map, and i hope i will be able to deliver a fun gameplay experience 🙂

This is so well done that it almost gives me fake memories of playing this when I was a child... in an alternate universe.
how to install ?
I noticed you only worked with HP2 on this channel. Any reason? I mean, why not HP3?
HP2 has the most advanced level editor. Also, i myself have not that much interest in HP3.

it's hard to say. I've had to take a break from building for a while, but right now i am working on the map every day!

summertime at the earliest i think, hopefully somewhere around june-july. But who knows, might come out earlier since it wont be as big as part 1

@@InnVNixGinner It's "ghosty02" in Critters_sfx. You have to use the editor and open the sounds window. From there you can also export sounds into .wav -files

i never knew you could do this i just kept playing the vanilla game when i was a kid lol. i always tried to change my character skin in debug mode but it never worked hahaha
I love the dark and mysterious ambience of these games. Major flashbacks to the Lumos and Filch sneaking challenges from HP1.

There is a community of speedrunners that play this game pretty much everyday. Don't understand how they do it, but that goes for every speedrunner of any game

You can create HP2 maps by using MetallicaFan212's HP2 editor. If you want to try it out join the HP modding discord server (link in the description), there you will find a download link to the editor, as well as links to copy's of HP2 in all languages

Yes there should be 25. Some that you might have missed could be 3:21, 11:26, 17:02, 20:07, 29:26, 31:15,

Wow!! This is amazing!!! I've already installed the extended mod for HP2 as well as the additional levels like the greenhouse and the secret route to the hospital wing. So I am excited to try this out too. Quick Question, so once everything is installed and all the files have been placed in the right folder. How do I access this level within the game? Is there like a new door within the castle or something like that?
Open the game launcher, click Options, Game, Level select, choose my map. I would make sure you have the latest version of the m212 engine before playing, also my map is meant to be played on a new save (so that wizard cards appear in the level), I hope you enjoy!

I really enjoyed the map! You should put in a segment that has a similar vibe to the upper castle/rooftops seen in the Wingardium Leviosa spell challenge from HP1. Anyone else NoClip that jump? lol
Great work, and very magical mood :) Imagine a bunch of people creating multiple areas in parallel, in the same amount of time now we would have almost an entire new game
Thank you! Yes you are right, KnowWonder (the HP2 PC developers) actually created the game in about 6 months if i recall correctly. I'm currently working on my Part2 map, and it seems like there will be at least one map by another modder that will be released before my Part2 map is finished. So there is more HP2 content to come in the future.

Playing this map requires MetallicaFan212's new HP2 engine. 1. Download and install a clean copy of HP2 PC 2. Join the Harry Potter Modding discord server (link in the description) 3. Go to the #current_editor_updates channel in the discord. There you will find a link to the new HP engine 4. Install the engine (very easy install process) 5. Download my mod (link in the description) 6. Install my mod: Open the folder which you downloaded, inside you will see 3 folders: Maps, system, Textures. These folders exist in the HP2 main folder as well. You will be copying the individual files from my mod into their corresponding folders in the HP2 main folder. 6.1. Open the Maps folder, copy the individual file that's inside, paste it inside the HP2 Maps folder. 6.2. Open up the system folder, open up the cutscenes folder, copy all files and paste them inside the HP2's cutscenes folder (it's inside the HP2 system folder). 6.3. Open up the Textures folder, copy all individual files, paste them in the HP2 Textures folder. 7. Open up the HP2 launcher, then go to options, Game, Level Select, then choose my map paperclipAdventOfTheNightlyOrb_Part1. 8. Play! Note: My map is meant to be played on a new save, as you will be collecting wizard cards. Some usefull info: Inside the discord, in the #resources channel there are links to clean copies of HP2 PC in all languanges.

Texture expansion for chests?

Do you think it would be hard to make a new set of collectible cards along with their section in Folio Magi? I'm no modder but I have this idea of a new set based on some original cards from HP3 (vampires, creatures, Goblins, giants, etc...) so modders could add them to the secret areas, making them more rewarding.
Making HP2 PC mods requires knowledge of UnrealScript. UnWorld has some UnrealScript tutorials on his UA-cam channel, there's also other resources you can find online. I highly recommend visiting the Harry Potter Modding discord-server, there are people there that can give you more help/information on this matter. You can also find resources via the discord like de-compiled game files where you can look at the game's source code directly. I have a link to the discord in the description. Making the textures is probably around 40-50% of the mod, if you can make those, i'm sure people on the discord could help you more deeply with the coding side of things.
To answer your question directly: if you are starting from 0 knowledge of UScript, probably yes, or it will probably be more tedious than "difficult"
