How to get started winding a bobbin and thread routing on a Singer 15-91
Thank you so much!! You’re a lifesaver ❤
Thank you 🙏 I’ve been looking everywhere for a guide for this type of singer and have been struggling. I’m learning how to sew basically on my own so this helps a tremendous amount! Thank you
New to sewing, don't have anyone in person to teach me and this video has made a world of difference for me.
Your machine looks like it just came off the assembly line. Did you restore it? Great job!
I simply cannot wrap my head around how the bobbin thread finds its way through the needle hole 🤯
Just want to take a minute to thank you for doing this instruction video! I have it saved so I can refresh my memory because I don't sew on a regular basis. This is the best and clearest instructions I have found! Thank you so much!!❤
Thank you for such great and easy to follow instructions.
Have a singer 15 series treadle. The gasket/washer on bobbin winder broke off. And the set crew hasn’t been engaging. Wondering if you had any ideas?
Sounds like you just need a new bobbin tire, they are readily available on Amazon and other retailers

Wonderful instructions. Thank you!
1st time seeing one used. 💜💜💜
Helpful, thank you!
I have a 15-91 & I was not threading it right until I just watch you thread yours,I really like the machine.thank you
Thank you for this wonderful instructional video. Appreciate your efforts. Bravo.
Is this the model with a potted motor?
Yes
Literally can’t see how you’re the threading the bobbin, so far from the camera or with hands in the way. Guess there’s a certain amount of foreknowledge assumed 😅
I found a ag589568 the bobbin case lever go the opposite of what you were showing I don't know if its right or wrong..
I can gate this mashine for how much pl,
Will this sew thin leather
Yo soy muy afortunada de tener mi 15 90 en su mueble original y sus accesorios también viene con un banquito guarda hilos y accesorios .
Life saver, Thank you!
Thank you. I frequently forget how to do this and have to go through several trial and errors and mistakes until I get it right. 😂 this is a great step by step instruction and just the reminder I needed. ❤
Great Video! Just wondering if you know if a 1950 Singer EGO26341 Blue and Gold Badge Centennial machine made in Clydebank Scotland is a valuable machine, something special, or worth restoration. Any advice would be much appreciate. Cheers!
Máquina de costura muito boa parabéns
Looks like you have a 1950 singer 99k, they are good machines. Basically a short version of the 66. In my area I can usually sell a fully cleaned and rewired one for~$130 USD. Unfortunately the centennial badge doesn't really add much to the value.
Thank you for this video. Can you please tell me what type sewing needle you use? Thank you.
I like the Schmetz or Organ brands. And this machine takes 15x1, needle size and type will depend on what your sewing
Can you please tell me where to get needles that thread from the side instead of the front. I'm having trouble finding them. My machine won't sew at all and I think that is the problem. Thank you.
The needles are standard 15x1 sewing machine needles. And are available at any craft store or online. The difference is how you install them. The should be installed with the flat to the left
@@lindseythompson6521 thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I have an identical machine with a different serial number and was flummoxed on how to thread . Wonderful video.
Thank you so much for this video. I got old Singer, similar to yours. It continuously runs when power is on. How to stop? Its Singer AF 405107.
It sounds like there is an electrical short. The machine and pedal should be re-wired before further usage. A local sewing machine repair shop should be able to do this for you
Please tell me where I can get that needles threading tool that you used, I have such difficulty threading a needle on my 15-91
It's a Singer Sewing Machine Serger Needle Threader, and it works very well I prefer it over the small ones
@@lindseythompson6521 thank you!! I have my mother in laws 15-91 and had it serviced and it works great. Just hard for my 67 year old eyes to thread
You did an outstanding job on video work. I will refer back to this. Than you.
Thank you!!
Hola, tengo la misma maquina. No lo puedo usar por el motivo que la tension está mal puesta...
Thank you! I just got a Husqvarna CB 15 and this is basically the same.
That's a good looking machine, been keeping my eye out for an old Husqvarna unfortunately they are not common in my area.
Flat facing LEFT would be more accurate. I was a little confused. Otherwise a terrific video for a terrific machine. I wouldn't trade my 1946 15-91 for any other. Thank-you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for the clarification, i will try to be more clear in the explanations in future videos. The 15-91 is really a nice machine, has such a soothing clack clack as it sews
Va .uy despacio esa máquina!
I have, slowed it down. I'm not skilled enough to keep up
So I got mine all threaded but my bottom stitches are just a straight line? My top stitches are great but how do you make the bottom look like the stop stitching?
Sounds like you top tension is to loose. Try tightening it 1/8th - 1/4 turn.
@@jasons4545 I tried and it just didn’t make any difference..I changed the needle too and threaded the machine again and nothing. Eh…
Thank you... I was pulling my hair out
Glad this was helpful
OMG Thank You sooooo much! 😘
Your welcome glad this could help
This is the best and clearest singer 15 threading video on UA-cam. Thank you!
Glad I could help
Me encanta esa maquina. Cuanto diera por tener una en esas aprendi a cocer yo
Can't thank you enough. Been trying to remember how to thread everything been decades.
I also struggled finding information, glad this was helpful for you
I picked this 49 singer up alittle over a year ago for a vintage touch to put my patches on my riding vest. Did a great job til the bobbin ran out. No problems til I have to put the bobbin back in and go though the hole. Thank you for making this video!!
Bet that machine does a great job with your patches. These things have very good piercing power.
@Lindsey Thompson it did now I can't get it to properly sew without pulling the thread out of the needle every time it goes through fabric
@@MrMyname18 is the issue when you first start sewing? If so are you holding your "tails"? Before you begin the first stitch hold the extra top and bobbin threads, keep hold of them for the first ~3 stitches until the threads are locked in. That should prevent pull out.
@Lindsey Thompson yes I'm aware, It happens a couple in to 10 in its different stitches. It's not pulling the tails through I'm familiar with that, it's cutting the tread off as it comes though the fabric like the thread is too tight but appears loose
@@MrMyname18 hmm. Well this sounds more complicated there are a few things I'd check 1. The hook and needle plate for burrs that might be cutting the thread. 2. Verify that the needle is the correct size for your thread. 3. You mentioned you were sewing patches. If your using a low quality thread it could be cut from the friction of being pushed through the material
I have several vsm's and 2 treadles so I really enjoy your tutorials.
Thank you
My new-to-me 15-91 arrives shortly and this is a wonderful video (as are your other 2) about the little things so necessary for success. Thanks for making these!
Yep mine looks just like that one
Then you have a very nice 15-91 🙂
Does any one know how to clean and maintain one of this
I think threading the needle is usually from left to right. I do it that way but yours could do too. Never tried.
The manual shows right to left, threading it backwards can put the loop of thread on the wrong side of the needle and lead to skipped stitches
I do not understand the mechanics of the stop motion screw. It is not shown how to adjust it.
The stop motion screw is the chrome knob in the center of the hand wheel. It should turn ~90° before hitting a mechanical stop.
Yeah! I wondered if I was going crazy. Now everything is wonderful and I can conclude that I am not going crazy. Thank You so much.
