Even if the author said he doesn't have any attachment to any of the characters he made, he still managed to create great and lovable characters and great storyline.

Hands down, the greatest plot twist of all time in anime history.

This episode is one of the best evidence that Twilight really has a genuine affection towards Forger Family. Franky, his colleague who knows him for a long time and who knows Twilight the best, told him not to develop unnecessary feelings (familial or romantic love) towards Yor. Meaning Franky can sense that Twilight started to feel genuine affection towards them.
