It seems the steam version has some issues to troubleshoot, I had tried for about an hour to fix it but I gave up. I meant to solve it and repost it.

Squadrons falls so incredibly far from the feel of these far older games its not even close. It feels like you're moving around in water. Thank god for the modding community to revive some of these classics.

It might not look like much but trust me it's entirely remastered. The original looks much much worse. This is the XWUA upgrade that improves textures, includes lighting effects, etc. I saw it in it's original state and this version makes it much more playable.

@@MartyLeonXIIIGaming I guess they didn't bother remastering the cockpit / gunner pods as those look pretty bad aside from the highres monitors?

@@thewhyzer Maybe you're right I'm not entirely sure but if you check out the XWUA upgrade specs you can see the full list of what they fixed/upgraded. I know for sure every single vehicle in the game has improved and more detailed textures.

@@MartyLeonXIIIGaming I recently watched a video on the Tie Fighter Total Conversion for what I believe was the XWUA, and it looked incredible, though it was also in VR mode.

@@thewhyzer yeah tie fighter total conversion uses the xwua upgrade and they both are vr compatible. Im gonna play that once i finish x wing alliance.

It does! If you get the XWUA upgrade you can use mouse&keyboard, joystick or even controller.

@@MartyLeonXIIIGaming Hmm. I remember trying a couple of years ago and it wouldn't work. Must have done it wrong. I also recall Tie Fighter having a similar problem.

@@v4skunk739 try it again and let me know what error you get. I had to troubleshoot it myself but got it to work. Totally worth it in my opinion.

​@@uncletimo6059 I got my mouse to work last night with the built-in joystick emulator in XWAU. I had to set alliance.exe to run as administrator and completely close Steam or the joystick emulation settings would not save.

I wish I still had mine... Then again I dont have a DVD drive neither.

I have encountered this same issue when I found my MSFS2004 CD-s. I purchased an external DVD drive and now I can enjoy a big chunk of my oldies collection. ✌️

@@MartyLeonXIIIGaming Oh, I have plenty of drives. Must have half a dozen or so in a box in the shed. But few modern desktop cases have room for one these days. Next time I do a build, I'll have to look for one that does.
