Late Night With The Devil Movie Review
It's different. It's offbeat. It's most definitely unconventional in its presentation and delivery. It possesses supreme visuals. Some call it a mess and say it's unbalanced. It is, in fact, a beautiful mess and is perfectly unbalanced. It's a Francis Ford Coppola masterpiece.
@@FineLineMotionPictures glad you can get more out of it!
Thanks for the shout out! It was great to catch up with you as well and see a movie, it had been a while. It seems that we had similar views on this one, great aesthetics, minimal substance. I did like what they did with Arthur’s character although the final product did not quite deliver to the potential that could have been.
Totally can see your point of view!
It may be sometime before another movie creates such a broad spectrum of opinion in comparison to what this movie has already brought. It seems that the artistic expression is the main thrust of the movie, even at the expense of plot and story structure
I think that’s what i appreciate it the most for!
Him not knowing Demi’s name is crazy 😂.
"Demi Moore". The ex-wife of Bruce Willis. She was a guest star on The Master TV show in 1984. Gene Siskel hated her remake of The Scarlett Letter in 1995. Dinty Moore is a tin can filled with beef stew.
Gonna have to check this out!
Certainly worth it!
Am I crazy to think this is one of the best movies I’ve seen? And I’ve seen a lot. I’m 38 and haven’t been this excited about a movie in at least 15 years, it was so cool
@@bertonspat129 not crazy, totally understand the love for it!
I feel exactly the same!
Great review.
Thank you!
This is more or less what I expected, a good, but not great. Follow up to an older classic. I suspected that Keaton himself would be the strong Old of the film. Still, good is better than bad so we will take it.
Certainly not awful like I was dreading, and certainly the best Tim Burton project we’ve had in years
I did not know about this movie until I saw your review. Now I’m very intrigued to check it out!
@@royludwick1308 definitely worth it!
The idea of having to prove demonic possession in a court of law was extremely intriguing! Too bad this movie wasn't that at all. I absolutely hated this movie. The whole family immediately moves on from the crazy exorcism they were all present for. Arne begs the demon to take him, acts surprised when things start happening to him. Later on, while everyone is trying to save him, he chooses to lie about whats going on. There's the scene where the witch is trying to stab Lorraine even tho she knows ed has to kill her for the ritual. Not to mention, the whole child, lover, and man of faith aspect of the ritual is thrown out the window even before the movie gives the explanation on how the ritual works (the first death was the lover, and david is obviously the child, but by taking arne instead of david that destroys the concept for the ritual). Ed surgery and cane are thrown away the moment it's convenient, when he runs and pulls Lorraine up from the cliff. The only consistent thing throughout the whole movie is ed needing and forgetting his pills. And the witch has no motive for what she's doing, aside from she doesn't need one she worships the devil. Acting was fantastic! As I'd expect from the actors and actresses. As well it was very visually pleasing. I'd give the movie a solid 2 out of 10 because the only reason this movie was worth finishing was because I paid 6 bucks to rent it and I watched it on my breaks at work
🚩Prometheus was & still is the BEST of ALL🤏
Totally agree with your review! I wanted to go to the cinema but instead watched it online. Glad that I save my money for a ticket.
Should’ve done the same!
Yikes! I think you just saved me the money for a ticket on this one!
Definitely skip itN
I’m crushed that I wasn’t able to see this opening day, we just got back from vacation but I’m looking forward to sharing thoughts about this one
@@royludwick1308 same here! You were missed at the screening!
Nice, straightforward, no-BS review - really got me interested in watching this - cheers from Copacabana, RJ.
Thank you so much! So glad you’re gonna check it out now!
Well, I liked it alot more than Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Actually, I agree with someone on Reddit who said Pearl was more psychlogical horror and this was a summer slasher. I would add the other 2 were more contemporary horror and this was like the VHS tapes featured throughout, which is my era so I loved it.
I read an interview where Oz Perkins said they were borrowing from other movies and conscientiously trying to create a pop art piece. I can kinda see it, though I don't know what the T Rex thing has to do with the movie. He also didn't say why the character is called Longlegs, he just says it's cool because it sounds like a Led Zeppelin song, or a vintage 70's thing.
Very cool!
I just realized now. The T. Rex song where he says bang a gong, get it on is referencing the metal orbs Longlegs was using to influence everyone. But I still don't know why the director would say Longlegs has that name because it sounds like a cool 70's thing when the movie was set in 90's evidenced by the Clinton photo in the FBI office.
Im Tom Hardy fan..good job..Justin Butler for get about it he didn't do anything for me..the movie it self seen this kind of movie many time it wasn't anything special about..its True 🤔
A great sequel.
Glad you got more enjoyment out of it than I did!
I’m checking this one out on Thursday. I didn’t know it was based on a novel
Gonna be a delight!
Based on a book of photos and interviews of a real Outlaw Club. Kind of like looking at a photo and it comes to life like James Cameron did on Titanic
Jodie Comer's unusual accent was based on Danny Lyon's interviews with the real-life Kathy. She sounded just like that.
That’s amazing!
@@filmbuffs9759 It is! Apparently she listened to the tapes over and over. She got it down so well that when Jeff Nichols started listening to the tape she made of her own interpretation it was so close it took him 4 or 5 seconds to realize it wasn't the real Kathy.
You had me on your Butler opinion! One trick pony. Elvis = Elvis, Dune = Angry Elvis, The Bikeriders = Broody Elvis!!!
Such a one noted actor
You were right on track with Zach Avery’s horrible performance. As it turned out he ran a Ponzi scheme where he defrauded investors out of 230 million and is currently serving 20 years in prison. So he got this role because he paid for it. In fact, all of the indie films he had roles in were due to his paying his way in to movies. He was a bad actor who was desperate to be a movie star.
Holy shit I had no idea
Best movie of the year.
So glad you love it!
So glad this one got a positive review! I was looking forward to this but was a little skeptical because of it being a Netflix release.
Definitely worth it!
"you need to be able to draw a lot from silence, from looks" she made chess interesting. 😂 And you had your doubts.
Now this was a movie I could get behind. I enjoyed every minute of it. It was predictable but still fun because the actors were brilliant.
I appreciate your review, but I’m gonna have to disagree. This movie was not the shot in the arm, but rather the shot of fentanyl that killed off my interest pretty quickly. You can watch the first 10 minutes of the movie and after that, the rest of the movie is exactly the same.
It’s certainly a pulverizing movie and I can totally see your stance here!
@@filmbuffs9759 I appreciate you letting me voice my opinion without getting defensive. I always search out movie reviews and try to comment and bring conversation to a person’s video for some traction.
Of course! I feel everyone’s opinion about a film is valid ( unless they’re being bigoted but that’s obviously something very different), and as long as you’re respectful I’ll always treat ya the same way
The poster cgi of her face makes it look like the AI generated Elijha Wood into her facial features
💛🧡🧡🎧🎬📽🎞🎥
Not interested in chick flicks. 👎🏼🤮
If the acting sucks, the movie is NOT a masterpiece. Acting is the singelmost important part of a movie.
I didn’t know about this one but it sounds very intriguing
It’s certainly a different movie, but totally worth checking out!
I think this movie did a nice job of serving as a setup for another chapter in this world. As you know that does not always translate well but I think it was done admirably here. I understand your feelings about the final chapter but I think they had to make a decision to go to a point before things went on too long into world building, still I also noticed the shift in tone in the third act. By then I was rooting for Noah so it didn’t bother me as much 😊
I’m sure most people shared the same opinion!
I think you're the problem bud. Movie was fun af.
I’m surprised you were disappointing this one, I thought it was a lot of fun! I understand the point of you you are taking, but I looked at this as more of an homage to stuntmen in Hollywood, as opposed to being a potentially dramatic adventure. It also kept in line with the premise of the original TV show that it was based off of.
Certainly far from the worst movie I’ll see all year, just not for me!
Amaing directing by Luca Guadagnino and an even better script! One thing that I didn't love about it though was the unnecessary slo motion for some scenes. It felt like they were trying to force tension by slowing things down at times.
I honestly liked the slow mo scenes but I could totally understand having issues with it!
Zendaya picks and chooses her projects very well and its really contributed to her public presence and why people accept her as a mature actor instead of her being stuck in the Disney Kid image.
Totally agree!
This movie was so BLOODY FUN! The actress of Abigail was insanely good and the movie was so funny. I has an absolute blast with it and cannot wait to watch it again. Going to be apart of my halloween viewing for years to come for sure. Great review!
So glad you got so much enjoyment out of it!
Thanks for your review! I'm also not a fan of Garland's previous work so your review piqued my interest. I've thought about waiting for it to come on streaming because the theater experience for this movie gives me some anxiety. A few reviewers specifically said to see it in the theater, and in IMAX if you could. Not sure I want to be that immersed in it but I wonder if you saw it in IMAX. Also, what kind of sound system in your theater? Sound design has also been commended but I wonder if it's their affinity for Garland's other work. Thanks again for this review.
Thank you so much! And I saw it in a regular theater, it was cinemark so I believe it was standard dolby speakers. And I would say the imax wouldn’t be worth the extra price!
Fk the left and the Right........popcorn should be served warm!
This movie has deeply affected me.
Same here!
Cheap budget movie that picked the most boring perspective in a fictional civil war. Muh journalist bravery, filming whites perma sleeping minorities. Meanwhile irl, journalist won't cover the "Summer of Love" for what it really is. Just face it, this was a left leaning movie with a clear paranoia about Drumpft and grass root movement. The thing is, movies being Hollywood people already kind of expected to be left leaning anyways so might as well make an exaggeration "right wing extremist" fear mongering movie at least then it provides some kind of entertaining value.
Whaaat that’s crazy I feel like yea Men really drop the ball towards the end it was unecessary the scene we all know. But ex machina you probably watched it after the hype dude that movie was quite insane and annihaltion was very in the middle it was also very well acted intersting concept and ending again was very weird but yes this film was absolutely insane I think it was smart not giving us too much content on the political aspect maybe a few more hints but picking sides was defiantly Not the move and I felt genuinely horrified the action in this movie felt realistic you feel me? I felt weird bro bc this can probably happen ugh
Extremely valid!
Solid review
Thank you so much!
good action, but way off in some ways, like texas and cali being allies
While that may be a bit unrealistic, I felt like that wasn’t really a factor when enjoying the movie
Excellent review!!! I intended to see this movie and now you’ve made it a must see.
thank you so much! And it is definitely a must see!
This review was very reassuring. I was hesitantly interested in seeing this, but now that you have confirmed it is not an outright political statement there is a greater appeal for me.
I was feeling the same before heading into this thing, but I was surprised!
I’m curious to see how you feel this album to the original Omen which is a horror classic. Let me know!
I’m gonna check it out and definitely let you know!
