Super Bowl IV: Minnesota Vikings vs. Kansas City Chiefs | FULL GAME
Although the New York Jets upset the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III, most still believed that the NFL was still superior. Before the game, the Vikings were 13.5 point favorites, as they were led by a suffocating defensive line. Kansas City had a chance to avenge their loss in the first Super Bowl, and they did, shocking the football world once again. This was the final football game before the AFL-NFL merger, which permanently changed pro football forever.
For the longest time, Super Bowl IV was only available on a canadian kinescope black and white copy. A year ago or so, the color broadcast resurfaced, adding an important piece to the Super Bowl catalog. This game includes 40 minutes or so of the pregame.

I do not own this; it is for education and history.

Logos on helmets still the same 👍
Look at that sold-out crowd! 🤣 Yeah, we know what everyone else knows about Super Bowl I: - The game did not sell out - CBS and NBC broadcast the game simultaneously - Both networks do not have an original copy of the game; they recorded over it. - An unknown individual from Scranton, PA recorded Super Bowl I on videotape (VCRs existed in those days?). The NFL reached out to this individual and offered $1 million for it. The individual's response? No. - You can only hope the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers meet again in a Super Bowl before 2030. Make sure you record it... you never know how valuable it will be 60 years from now.
There was never a super bolw 1 or 2
It was, this is it
The AFL brought names on the back of jerseys into being. The NFL was not doing it until the actual merger.
Physically KC was abetter team but just did not have the know how and as Mike Garrat said "not everyone "had the proper confidence
The Packers were the only NFL team ever to beat an AFL team!
Sorry not sorry The Superbowl didn't start until the Jest vs Colts
42:12 Kickoff
Those Chief helmets look interesting
Wait a second, wait a second... Kansas City isn't supposed to lose football games. Didn't the refs get the memo?
What I guy flying in the air!!!!! At halftime show 😮😮😮😮
When football was a man’s game!!!!
NFL Championship games have frequently been blowouts - Packers 27 Giants 0 (1939), Bears 73 Washington 0 (1940), Bears 37 Giants 9 (1941), Browns 56 Lions 10 (1954), Giants 47 Bears 7 (1956), Packers 37 Giants 0 (1961), Browns 27 Colts 0 (1964), Colts 34 Browns 0 (1968).

The first 4 were not called Super Bowls…Number 4 was almost..Norma Hunt suggested to Pete Rozelle, the NFL COMMISSIONER..that maybe jokingly or not..that these AFL-NFL Championships of the World…could be called something unique…the summer of 1969…American kids were playing with a really big red ball called Super Ball…so it was a spark that lit her imagination…the broadcast actually has the network team working the game calling it SuperBowl…but the tv graphics still had on the tv screen…AFL-NFL Championship of the World…maybe it was decided too late to call it Super Bowl to change what was on the screen…I am not privy to back room decisions…and Norma Hunt, Lamar’s wife , til she died last year, had been the only person to attend EVERY game in the Super Bowl era..and was known as the First Lady of the NFL…so they eventually had to go back and rename the Championship games to Super Bowls…since they now were…the first in a long line…
65 TOSS POWER TRAP 👍👍🙏🙏💜💜❤❤😜😜🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow look at all the empty seats 😮😮😮😮😮
Nice see new stuff from ruch, even though it fron the early days. It sounds great.
I was told by numerous sources the game was broadcasted by two networks, and both erased it, and no original version existed. So glad to see this is no longer true!
The players looked older and slower back then.
Aysome footage I was a little baby when this game happened would loved to saw it but now I can txs a who lot ❤❤❤ it
Al Hirt and Grambling over Beyonce any day.
A question is which nfl team do you like?
I’ve always been a Dallas Cowboys fan; it runs in the family since my grandpa became a fan in 1960.
Basically the same logos, all the years later. Also, could you imagine going to a hot ass game wearing a suit and tie?
If you look close you will see all sorts of things that would be penalties today. On GBs first posession Starr is sacked by Buck Buchanan and Buck takes a swat at Starr's knee. On KCs first possession there is a late hit out of bounds. It was a dirty game back then...😂😂😂
Why they all running in slow mo tho lol
They're not running in slow motion, it's the speed of the analog film. It wasn't digital.
Attended Super Bowl 2 at the Orange Bowl as a teenager. Packers vs Oakland Raiders. Plenty of empty seats.
Did they actually do those cut scenes with the still images in the original?
I saw this game live at the stadium. It was not well attended. Being from Indiana, I was a big Packer fan. Still remember the McGee behing the back pass reception.
How much was a ticket?
Great job !
If you are familiar with what happened in Super Bowl 4, you might recognize that the play at 14:25, which only gained a couple of yards here, was the same play that blew the game wide open against the Vikings 3 years later. (Adderley hung on to Taylor until help arrived here, but in SB 4 Macbee bounced off and Taylor went all the way.)
Thanks for this
Thanks for this i wish lombardi wouldve stayed one more year i think couldve won a 3rd straight Super Bowl
A lot of Late Hits. A lot of blocking below the knees.
Igot super bowl 2
46:38 The WR's stance...
Mixing in footage of other games is STUPID!
they need to speed it up a micro second, because they all look like they're floating on the moon
Raiders were totally outclassed!
I remember some of this!!
I was there and sprained my ankle coming down from the lavoratory. We sat on blankets with beer, etc. I don't remember seeing the performers. Duh...
In Germany back in the 70s and 80s was queen as big as led zeppelin , pink flyod, the Rolling Stones??
10/10 video, game of the year.
It still amazes me that Fred Arbanas the Chiefs’ receiver could play pro football with only one eye.
Spoil chiefs lose😢😢😢
I turned year old on first SB but I’d rather watch what coach Lombardi is saying doing on sidelines than the game itself
I was 12 years old. I thought Jim Taylor had more hair on his arms than I had on my (full-head of) hair! He was a manly man, like all the Packers. Ok, ok... Chiefs, too (ugh, AFL).
Says in the description that it was the first time referred to as "Super Bowl" but I just listened to the broadcast of the Super Bowl 1 and the announcer called it Super Bowl at least twice
Came back to see the first kick off to a Super Bowl after that stupid kick off rule change gotta be kidding me
does anyone have the COMPLETE CBS-TV audio with Ray Scott, Pat Summerall, Jack Kemp?
I loved the Raiders when they were in Oakland. Crying shame that Oakland does not want them anymore. I wonder if Oakland wants any professional sports at all. The A’s are moving as well
