According to Davey in an interview I watched, they don't classify themselves with anything actually. And yes, you're right their sound was punk in the beginning. But they were never emo even a little. It's more Punk Rock than anything. And their albums after The Art of Drowning were just as good. Sing the Sorrow and December Underground were really well done albums with just as much effort and emotion as the past ones.
