What is the Eutopia project? We tell to spread a present of hope, sustainability, beauty and innovations that make us, our pockets and the environment feel good: ecovillages, travelers, conscious lifestyles, urban regeneration projects, alternative educational projects. Stories that sometimes seem like utopias, but that we will discover exist and are already reality so we will bring these stories and interview their creators.
The self-sufficient ecovillage with 24 Eartships
The Aadehuizen Project is a housing development of 23 houses and a Community Building, the first ecovillage project in the Netherlands.
The original idea was for them all to be Earthships (buildings with walls made from tyres packed with rammed earth), but after 12 were built, they switched to straw bale walls, given the labour-intensive nature of Earthship construction.
Most of the materials used in the construction were sourced from within 50 kilometres, including reclaimed materials such as tyres and scrap wood, as well as straw, cob and earth plasters.

Earthship = the eco-house of future?
Переглядів 8 тис.Місяць тому
"In 2006 our neighbor Paul, together with friend Joost in Sweden, joined Michael Reynolds' team to build an Earthship hostel. After that vacation, he held a presentation with photos of tire stamping and talked about the low-tech design of the Earthship. After that presentation in which Estella and Mirjam were present, we shouted to each other: “We want that in the Netherlands too!” It didn't st...

Living in a 18m2 off grid house (with all comfort)
Had not expected a video of a guided tour around an eco-village with Vladimir Lenin to pop up in my recommended but I can't say I'm disappointed.
Self-sufficient? I see no farms, i see no animals. Do they steal food for nearby fields?
this is a cult
It's not a f****ng "earth ship", it's a house, a home. That's just a stupid term!
I love the idea of people building something beautiful together but then after a few years you always see them in the news being a sex cult or something.
Wow,this is not a housing company, it’s a social movement. The world needs more people like this fine fellow.
Rich people only.
I believe it would be wise to start living a way of life using the least possible electricity.
Amazing!! What a brilliant attitude 🌞😀🙏thank you
Conservation is good, climate change is a scam
Can earthships be scaled up for more Apartments?
Nice video's! But maybe change the intro.
I like this project. A little research on how green electric cars are might be beneficial. The production and longevity of electric cars is not good. I do like how this village community is run.
This is fantastic. I love how so many of the important details to optimal human function are so well thought out and implemented. Brilliant work. Thank you for your empowering example.
Very cool:)
very cool house!! but this is only for the rich in the netherlands!!
Very interesting video, thank you for uploading! Don't want do be a 'know-it-all' but please check your thumpnail: If a word starts with a vowel, than it's an earthship not a earthship!
Wonderful houses! I can only hope I’ll be able to live in something similar as I get older. For the domes I have to wonder if covering them with coconut fiber mat would allow for better growth?
I think the weather needs talking about more, you have haze filled skys, which will block your solar farm. The skys are being geo engineered and not enough of us are speaking up
Kirsten Dirksen must be invited to showcase !? ☝️❤️✌️🌍🙏
What’s an eartship?
Even if everything isn t perfect, it s should be the norm
Very cool🙏😊🤙
The sick dig at the netherlands warms my soul
I feel the tiny house like modern bahay kubo in the Philippines are only ideal on a big piece of land tho.
earthships? they are houses built of earth. cob building is older than usa.lets call it what it is.not some dysney fantasy.
Awesome video. Thank u very much for sharing. Very Nice and enjoyable narration, and very happy to perceive the great philosophy behind the project and watch that in action !!!
How do you find the people to be sacrificed during midsommar?
Ik weet nog dat ik rond 2010-2012 zoiets jullie al volgde over de aardhuis-community. Ik er toen graag bij gekomen.
I hope it is a place free of fear, I have something like that.
Building a home with toxic tires is not an eco friendly anything. Assholes where i live are polluting our water table. For our children's future. Think about that.
i think that we are born knowing how to build our own homes but our society likes to put obstacles in the way in order to keep certain techniques secret.
It's nice if you're a very social person. I'm not. :P
makes me so happy that people are pooling together to create beautiful communities like this. I agree that it's a good way to be politically active too. This movement is growing
this has the bones of a cult. not the Earthship movement but their 'village'.
refreshing guy and lots of great ideas
Car tire walls is bad idea because of off gassing from rubber
Beautiful. But certainly not "self-sufficient" nothing is an island. Also where is their farm?
Electric cars? Honestly how’s that working for planet earth. Definitely not eco
But my superhumans...
What you have created is beautiful and I am sure many of us are envious. Side note: watch out of the buddleja davidii (which i have seen zoomed in on a few time) because it is exotic and extremely invasive and it must be contained.
Le plus difficile dans ces projets c’est l’adhésion des personnes et le budget. Est-ce que ce type de projet est abordable à tous ? Dans le temps est-ce que cela fonctionne ? As ton asser de recul ?
Great project! Excellent example of what's possible when a group of sensible people empower themselves to create a living environment that actually meets the combined needs of humans and nature. There should be millions of these communities all over Europe.
Imagine a world in harmony with God….🙏❤️
How can you be so sustainable, and yet you cannot see how bad electric vehicles are? Such a contradiction. Do your research, please!
why do you think it is not sustainable? If you charge an electric vehicle with renewable energy it is driving with zero emissions
You say there are about 150 people in the "self-sufficient" village. Now, how many hectares do you use to sustain them? Because the habitable surface of the earth being about 80 million square kilometers, or 1 hectare/person with an earth population of 8 billions. That's 1 hectare for everything: housing, producing food (agriculture), producing goods (industry), moving around (roads, trains, harbors, airports...) and finally, hopefully, preserved land. Which means if the total surface of your village + agricultural land is more than ~80 hectares (to make for external production and communication areas), your way of life is not sustainable for humanity in its current numbers. Dense cities and industrial agriculture are the only way to sustain ourselves in an eco-friendly way.
Don't try to grow the number of people! Lookup Dunbar's number.
Actually not self sufficient at all (maybe in energy) but still nice.
We need more of these all over the world.
It seems like a wonderful community! Well done all of you!
