REGULAR GUY TRAINS A SUPER DOG (MALINOIS)

As a non dog trainer I want to show you all what I do with my Malinois as far as daily training. Showing his drive and our communication with each other is what I wanted to highlight here. I am just a regular guy(not a dog trainer) who was basically gifted a Malinois puppy. I have done as much work as I can to try to raise a good pup. Let me know what you think about Draco's progress so far. Al...
Typical Training Session with my Belgian Malinois
Переглядів 613Місяць тому
Here’s a glimpse into what a daily training session looks like with my Malinois. I am by no means a dog trainer. We switch things up now and then but he loves the ball so much and he never gets tired of it. Most sessions last anywhere from 3 to about 5 minutes. Let me know what tactics you use and how you train your dog in the comments! #belgianmalinois #malinois #puppy #workingdog #obedience #...

Trauma Saves Reviews Alaskan Fish and Chips
This is an excellent demonstration of the Premack principle, where you ask for a behavior before the dog is allowed to do something they like. It is very effective for high drive dogs. I love seeing you learn from screw ups, because training is about understanding the subtle nuances of how your behavior is able to trigger behavior from your dog. See if you can keep him in any position when you throw the ball. Then see if you can stop him verbally after he starts charging towards the ball. This would be very powerful if you ever have to control bolting problems (chasing squirrels or following a ball into the street).
@@martinheller5386 thanks so much! You’re right, it’s all about those small little details that we need to pay attention to. Keeping them busy is a must! Even when getting ready to go for a walk I can’t just start getting ready with him present. He needs to have something to do. So at times like that I literally have to put him in a sit or a down and then he’s fine. It’s the “doing what they want to do” part that we have to try to limit. He’s actually pretty good at remaining in a stay or down position when I throw the ball then release him verbally when ready. I’ll make a video showing that soon. Admittedly he isn’t perfect and we are still working on it. Thanks again for the tips and engagement! I really appreciate it my friend! 🤝
I used to have a jack Russel growing up. My dad would take his head and point him in the direction of something and once he would see it and get the command he would be off like lightning. And we would play with him in the house with a toy and fake throw it one way and while he wasn’t looking we’d hide it. Then hold our hands out when he came back to us and show him we don’t have it. “Where is it? Go find it.” He’d sniff and sniff away with a magic sound u til he would locate his toy somewhere crazy. Was amaaaazing. Ur dog could totally do that in a huge field if u start him off at home. He’d def get good enough. Was so much fun watching ur training session. Also maybe u want to use those trees to help u put a rope toy higher so he can really work on that jump? I’m not sure if it’s as much fun with a bigger dog but it was really fun with my jack Russel.

@@shiraprez that sounds awesome! Those are some great ideas. Thanks so much for commenting! Draco LOVES to sniff things out but you’re right I should work on training up that natural instinct that he has. I will try your ideas and maybe try to make a little mini series on his progress. Thanks so much!! 🙏🏽

Cool dog. Wouldn't call it a mal.. def a mix of one and pit at the minimum
@@Drkadrk thanks! He’s definitely a Mal. You’re right about the mix though, he’s got some Dutch Shepherd in him as well.

Starting the training by rewarding bad behavior is already wrong hope this comment helps you out

Thank you 🙏🏽😃
You are doing a great job at both satisfying his physical AND his mental energy. I wish more people put effort in like this! Well done! You are a great team :)
Thanks so much I appreciate it! We are doing our best 🙏🏽😃
Draco is amazing. Great job with him. My Malinois is 6 months old today and I am also following a plan from Robert Cabral. I am learning just as much from my Mal as she is from me. Keep up the great work I am following you.
@@chrisusa96 that’s awesome man! I think Cabral is great, check out Beckman and Andy Kreuger as well. I can tell you that I started seeing TONS of developmental changes around that 6-7 month phase. Over the next 6 months to a year you will really see your pup start to slow down and understand things so much more than they already do. Good luck man and thanks again!! Cheers! 🍻
Your puppy is doing good, my 2nd tip to you would be Really play with him, have big fun, I missed out on this Part as men get older we forget how play like young kids Do, keep up the good work

You’re doing an absolutely amazing job man! Putting a lot of people to shame with your work here. Draco is a testament to this. It must be incredibly satisfying to have this much success, in the results. Really nice to see. 😊
@@nickharker6770 thank you so much! Honestly the feedback has been unexpected and amazing all at the same time. Draco is an amazing dog, I can’t all of the credit for that. Most of that is him being such a smart dog 😎 I’ll be sure to keep sharing the journey, I appreciate you! 🙌🏽
Great vídeo! Salute from Madrid, Spain with myself and 3yr old amazing Mali girl. Also check out Andy Krueger. I would do hiding his toys in the park and make him search and bring back. This really tires Out mentally using scent.
@@rico4you wow I can’t believe I can share my experience with someone from so far away in Spain, thank you so much! You’re right about Andy Krueger. I forgot to mention him, he does great work as well. Your idea about hiding the toys in the park sounds great! I’m going to try that, hopefully it goes well so I can share the experience here. Thanks so much for the tips brother 🙌🏽🙏🏽Cheers!

Great job, brother, on starting your new UA-cam channel! You’ve definitely got my support - I’ve subscribed, and I’ll be helping out with likes, comments, and views. I really appreciate your humble approach, sharing your knowledge, and staying open to learning from others - that’s such a great mindset to have. I started my own channel back in April, sharing videos of my pets and funny moments. My work involves being around K9 units, so I’ve had the chance to see all kinds of dogs, including some that don’t quite make the cut for advanced training. There’s one Belgian (mid-energy) dog in particular I’ve got my eye on, and I’m hoping to adopt him when he’s off their list. With a bit of luck, I’ll soon have a house and land where I can relax and train him. I can’t wait to show everyone what I’ll be able to accomplish with him. Wishing you all the best with your channel - looking forward to seeing your journey! @FreakyFunnies
@@FreakyFunnies wow thanks so much for the comment my friend! I appreciate it so much 🙌🏽🙏🏽 I’ve also subscribed to your channel. Hopefully we can help each other out with dog tips and tricks. I like the work you are doing, one thing I would do is never take My eye of him things can happen in second, play tug with him this makes you more interesting than his ball
@@georgeward3100 thank you! 🙏🏽 that’s a good tip, thank for heads up! Definitely gotta keep our eyes on these pups.
Good job great video. Beautiful pup. Great training and exercise for him with that toy drive is to get a harness with a leash throw the ball 10ish feet and try and hold him back from it. Will get him tired and he will love it.
@@Samthewolf1010 thanks so much! I appreciate it 🙏🏽 that’s a great idea to tire him out, I’m going to have to try that one!
I wouldnt say not to reward a dog if he is displaying behavior that you want. You definietly want to reward in early stages, once he knows the the command and is able to do it in the most distracting areas then you can start to reward only when you ask him. Other than that best of luck! I also have a working dog (jack russell) which a small version of malionis 😂
@@gu5589 that’s a good point. I should’ve mentioned that it sort of depends what stage you’re at with your dog. But that’s the thing with these videos they’re all so subjective and every dogs situation is unique. Good luck with your Jack Russel my friend! 😁
Check us out. I have my first Mal and do all my training.
I want to throw out a a couple of names in the dog training world that I've followed over the years Bart Bellon, Ivan balabanov, Armin Winkler Justin Rigney Check those guys.

Whens the next video?, cant wait to see Draco in action again! & Video idea, seeing as your pretty much like the rest of us who arent pro trainers (could have fooled me), could you make a few videos on step by steps on how to do certain things with your dog? Like how you did split and for me it would be 'heel', i cant, for the life of me, figure out how to do this properly.
@@0292-q3l thanks so much for the feedback! I can definitely make some step by steps on the way I did those things with Draco. I have another video that I’m editing now with more tips/tricks. That one should be out in the next day or so!
Good vid! I'll ride with you (subscrided) and looking forward to more content. Food is typically one of those vids covered. You referenced dog parks, I believe. I'd keep my Belgian away from them, there's always some idiot with a poorly trained or untrained dog who inevitability puts another dog at risk.
@@harris66james thank you man I appreciate it! Also you’re so right about the dog parks. We used to take Draco when he was younger and it was cool but then it started to get problematic as you mentioned. The park we go to now is basically empty almost all the time but every now and then we get another dog or 2. Nothing like the actual dog parks though.

Great work and great drive control. I had a Mal 20 years ago. Sometimes I just threw the ball 10-30 meters and made him sit close or far away from me. Then a "yes" (ja) for going after it. And 2-10 stops before he was alowed to get it...Sometimes I would walk him in closer and closer cirkels around the ball... Mals have exceptionel focus and drive. So placing a treat on theire nose, and not alow them to take it. Is one thing. Throwing a ball while they are doing it.. Well.. I never tried. But think it would be near impossible / impossible.. Greatings from Denmark
@@sel7245 thank you ! 🙏🏽 your mal sounds like he was amazing. You know what, I’ve actually worked with Draco on this already and he’s pretty good at it. I’ll be sure to show it off in an upcoming video and all shout you out in the video 😁 The ball circle thing sounds like a fun idea. I might have to try that one!
