Epic Backpacking Adventure in Utah's Grand Gulch Primitive Area
Over the course of three incredible days, my buddy Michael and I embarked on an unforgettable adventure through Grand Gulch in Cedar Mesa, Utah. We set out from the Bullet Canyon trailhead on October 20th, 2024, with the goal of reaching Kane Gulch by the evening. Along the way, we marveled at the stunning Perfect Kiva dwelling in Bullet Canyon-a truly awe-inspiring sight. Heading further, the ranger at the Kane Gulch Ranger Station gave us valuable advice on exploring the ancient structures responsibly and warned us about the toxic air in the Kiva due to years of rodent waste.
Our journey continued as we passed by the impressive Jailhouse Ruin, standing over three stories tall. Later that evening, we arrived at the confluence of Kane Gulch and headed upstream in search of a campsite.
Day two brought a more leisurely pace as we soaked in the beauty of the canyon. Despite the progress we made on day one, the Grand Gulch's unique combination of trailfinding and bushwhacking made every mile a hard-earned victory. We passed numerous cliff dwellings nestled high in the canyon's coves. The highlight of the day was, without a doubt, the awe-inspiring Split Level Ruin. Later, we continued past Turkey Pen Ruin and stumbled upon fresh bear tracks in the mud. Though I only captured that moment on my phone, I’ll be sure to share a short video soon!
On our final day, we had just a few miles to go, and we took our time to savor the experience. Once we reached the Kane Gulch Ranger Station, I rode a bike back to the Bullet Canyon trailhead-an 8-mile trek that took me just over 30 minutes, despite the tiring hills. It was the perfect way to wrap up an epic adventure with one of the best mates I could ask for. Michael also captured this journey on film, so stay tuned for his in-depth look at this incredible adventure, coming soon!

Переглядів 10621 день тому
On June 23rd, 2024, I hiked to the summit of Mt. Columbia before driving to the base of Mount Belford to set up camp. The next morning, I tackled both Belford and Oxford, with a few small storms rolling in while crossing the saddle of Oxford. Despite that, the weather overall was perfect for mountain adventures. Unfortunately, a massive snow field on the trail kept me from attempting Missouri M...

I did many trips in 2021 and the spring of 2022 before I unfortunately lost all my data on a hard drive that just doesn't want to work after falling on the ground. It's possible It may be soon fixed but for now these are all the clips I had backed up. This definitely lowered my drive to continue editing and I took a break from making UA-cam videos but I have completed my biggest trip ever since...

Backpacking Capitol Reef National Park: Upper Muley Twist Canyon

On April 25th-26th, 2021, I backpacked Upper Muley Twist Canyon in Capitol Reef National Park. It was my first time backpacking alone and after passing a few people on their way out I had the canyon entirely to myself. It was very windy for most the day but between great views out of the narrow canyon, and the view from the top of the reef down into Strike Valley, I couldn't help but keep going...

On May 7th-9th of 2020 we backpacked the Death Hollow Loop. We started at the Boulder Mail Trail and made it down to the Death Hollow Trail that afternoon. We camped in a cove under some slickrock and were able to sleep without rainfly's without a worry. It was the same spot we spent 2 nights in 2019 when we got rained out and had to turn around once the water lowered. You can find a video of t...

On Saturday June 5th I summited Quandary Peak. It was a great hike that included some snow glissading that was undoubtedly my favorite part of this adventure. It was my first time using Ice Spikes having never climbed a snow covered peak before. It was also my first time doing a 14er alone and it was a good experience. The weather turned out to be absolutely amazing with winds averaging about 5...
