Yes, it does work and it sticks you in VFO mode. I wasn't able to get back to normal mode nor could I access any of my memory channels in this unlocked mode, even after restarting the radio. I had to reflash the radio from Chirp to go back to the previous config. It's a cute trick but worthless.
