Surreal 👐
Great video buddy.
Thanks for watching and following this journey.
I'm very mixed, black and white, afro indigenous and white, American and Australian and listening to this podcast has been so informative for how I view my own ancestry and the healing we black and indigenous people need to do, especially with just simply giving ourselves space to occupy and deliberately occupying space proudly, and tattooing is a powerful way to do that. I know this episode isn't on tattooing in particular but I feel like I need to leave a comment about how thankful I am for this. Ty!!
Hi Madison, thanks for watching and for sharing about your own journey. I appreciate the feedback and the acknowledgment that these episodes are doing good in the world.
So cool ❤️
30 mins into this one and it's a great conversation so far! Personally I find many conversations in the realm of these topics quite preachy when the speaker is at the "fully offended" end of the scale. And I often check out. So far I have remained focused on the conversation and feel it is at a level that is relatable to many. Big ups to both of you for providing the gems in this one!
Yooooo! Great watch. Had no idea Wes felt that way about his vitiligo. #SuperHero
Yes, so awesome. Stoked to be a small part of this journey.
You can still see the black eye.
This was a really thought-provoking episode. I love the conversation about objects not being inert and just because you are curious doesn't mean you have a right to it. neewe.
Thanks for listening. I appreciate your good words.
Deadlyy!
Its moving to hear you open up so honestly about your past. Be proud (i know you must be)! An inspiring life so far, and I'm sure much more work and humans to inspire! 🤙
Thank your for listening and for engaging with my work and leaving positive vibes.
Kia ora! I've watched all your previous interviews now and starting the transformative marks podcast from the beginning. Banger first interview. Thanks for providing a water source for my seed to grow 🤙
🤲👏🤲👏
I love the way Tihoti speaks, so thoughtful! Incredible markings 😊
Yes Tihoti is a beautiful human.
"Those steps that hurt my thighs to walk up there is the hardships" Awesome storytelling
This one hits home. I lost my baby daughter 10 weeks ago and that is what has sparked the beginning of my journey to learning the heritage of my children and embracing Maori culture in our day-to-day lives. Thank you stormy 🤙
Hey Dion, recently stumbled upon an interview of yours, as I think I have begun my own journey towards tā moko. I am starting at the beginning of your catalog. Thoroughly enjoying the insights from everyone so far
Thank you for watching and for sharing your good words and good luck on your journey.
Thank you so much for your work, building this platform, amplifying voices and sharing your experiences.
Hey Sarah, thanks for watching and sharing your good words.
Boring
MOKO 101 Rotorua Te Arawa. This Gallery has its own unique system, Masters of Of their craft to say the least. Multiple times Ive been in there and seen full on Maori custom protocols. What an honor to be around.

I WILL SAY EVERYTHING LOOKS SO GOOD YOU ARE AWESOME
What an amazing episode. The work you both are doing is awesome. Poppy, did my wife's Nehiyaw chin marking ink a few years ago. I hope I can get some work done by Poppy in the future. 💯 ❤
Thank you Dion for this interview. Those are words and lessons that I will keep with me. Aroha nui ia oe
Dagot'ee shii Shayla gonslee Ndee..Notoca Xoxoctic Xochitl Na Nahua Mexica...I love this video so strong & informative about how important and special it is to honor your traditions in honor of our relatives & long ago ancestors who gave their lives and survived the genocides and assimilations. I tell my mother being native is as if another group of people took over and only left 10% of all american socitey. She couldnt fathom how traumatic that would be. Or how much courage & strength it would take to remember who you really are before colonism of another society. WE ARE THE SURVIVORS OF THE PEOPLE THEY COULD NOT EXTERMINATE! I have my Chiricahua Apache facial tattoos, 7 dots by each eye to represent the 7 Generations of my new commitment to my womanhood. It means I cannot do any evil nor bad to people no matter how I feel. I must be good in honor of them.. Ahiyahee
Thank you for sharing your story and your marks.

Do you know of anyone knowledgeable about the cultural markings of the Inohka (aka Illinois, Illini, or Illiniwek)? Some descendants are now known as the Peoria and Miami Tribes who were relocated to Oklahoma.
Sorry for the late response. No I don't not know of anyone at this moment. Maybe this comment will bring that forward. Thanks for watching.
Such powerful words. Thank you both!
Thank you for listening and for sharing your good words.
Dion, this whole series is awesome and love all of it. Over the last few years I've pieced together some of my family history and much of its lost, colonization, no stories passed down, slave trade etc. What's crazy is what I've found traces in my immediate family, always felt a connection but didn't understand how concrete it can be. Trying to learn more about it especially the piece that ties me to the pacific. I hope you see this have a few questions I'm sure you could give some context and clarity to and direction for future tatau.
Thanks for sharing your story and following the channel. Good luck on your journey.
I recently received an ancestral marking and I’m grateful for this alignment!
Thanks for listening and sharing about your marking. Have a dope day.
I'm so excited and grateful for the opportunity to learn. Thank you for doing this important work!
