I need to know who directed this. There's so much that I enjoy about this video. Without much of an understanding of the German language nor the English lyrics on screen, you could think that they're praising Germany for all its faults, yet it's the complete opposite meaning. They're talking about their home country, and how they can't love it because of the horrific things it's done. The views of the Holocaust juxtaposed with the lyrics "I can't love you", mixed with later scenes that are similar but also opposite (the Jews shooting SS in the face) show what's truly being said. And the lady you see in the whole video? I believe that's their symbol for Germany. Always there, during the early years centuries ago to the worst point in German history. Her complexion makes me be feel like Germany has always been a dark country, unafraid of the things that others might find appalling, and in doing so the writers show how things have progressed today! There was a lot of thought put into this piece, and it shows. Beautiful articulation, it's careful not to show some of the worst parts as "good", but is praiseworthy for being made in the first place. Ever since the Nazis were finished off for good, Germany has been sternly in a "hush-hush" about the whole thing, and this must be Rammstein making a point about it. The end of the video shows the old confronted by the new, and a birth that represents new life. Perhaps the ending is a metaphor for the bands hope for the future.

I like the fact this song states that I can't agree with every thing in Germanies history but I'm still proud to be German and I respect that completely. As an American I understand the blood and sacrifices etc on our land and history but I'm still proud to be from the United States........every one should be proud of where they come from no matter the circumstances. And that what I get from this video and translation.

I swear to god, the lyrics are so corny. The "Ich Du Wir Ihn" reminds me of when I was in 5 th grade and learnt german. And the "so young, yet so old" sounds like a 14 yo came up with that. Two things of note. 1. There is a point where one of the puppies is peeing on a doctors face shield. 2. The puppies are clearly German shepherds, and they are shown in close vicinity to the band members crawling on hands and knees. Does this mean they view themselves as shepherds for Germany?
