how was ground clearance? I'll be picking up a 650r from a ducati 899. Having not had to worry about ground clearance for such a long time i'm a bit worried there xD
Ground clearance is a big issue, I scraped the fairings as well as the stock exhaust. I would definitely recommend getting a used Yamaha R6, they’re better in every regard stock.
@@hilljcaleb i've owned an r6, currently own a ducati 899so i'm aware of the capabilities. what's your preload like on the rear shock? I intend to replace with a YSS hi-lo adjustable rear shock with a lil more height to it, just wanted to get into track stuff before doing that but seems maybe not
@@andrewg4412 if you’ve ridden an R6 you won’t enjoy the CBR650R on the track, it’s not meant to be track ridden. Front suspension is not adjustable at all, bike feels too heavy and sluggish
@@hilljcaleb no I absolutely do think I'll enjoy it on track. All you need for that extra lean is an aftermarket rear shock with height adjustment (NOT preload) and I've already lined up some ohlins front and rear for that purpose

I just bought this bike, it's pretty quick for what it is! I had an F4i before and it was between this and the 600rr and the rr was way too uncomfortable on the street
I only ride on the track now so comfort isn’t a priority, hence upgrading to the R6.

All done automatically with GoPro GPS data in the footage. The app I use to interpret the data is RaceChrono Pro

Derestricted bike? Also, obviously the R6 would be a much better track bike, but do you still find the CBR650R fun?
Yeah derestricted, 90whp. The 650 was fun but I was too scared to crash it. The bike is not designed for track with high lean angles, I scraped the exhaust and lower fairings on the ground.
Whats the handling like compared to the r6/zx6r
The R6 has far more aggressive ergonomics and is definitely better for the track. More power as well, 120whp on the R6 vs 95whp on the CBR650R. The Honda is better for street riding.
You want the cbr600rr, this 650r is a middleweight sports tourer type

It's to alert other road users of heavy braking through the indicators, it gets set off all the time on track.

Nice man, do you have track fairing ? I have the same bike but i don't find any fairing for my 2021 cbr650r... I'm french sorry for the language...
I had stock fairings at the time, I could never find track fairings either. I have since sold the CBR650R and bought a track R6 :)
