Thanks for the valuable content brother. What kind of salary could a head of department expect with 17 years teaching experience?
Thank you for watching. An average guideline middle leader package including all the allowances would be around RM20k. It differs from school to school but based on the tier of International school that you apply for.
Hey Saf and Sara,Thanks for the inspiring video! I'm considering to do an iPGCE but not sure whether the international schools accept it. Do you happen to know anything about it? Also, I'm an experienced English teacher from China and hold an MA degree from the UK, but find it difficult to secure a teaching job in Malaysia. Do you think they prefer to hire native English speaking teachers? Thanks again!
Thank you and appreciate your support. Yes, holding an iPGCE will definitely help with your application. Although some international schools prefer native English speaking teachers, many schools will focus on your experience and qualifications, so please do continue applying. Wishing you all the best.
So what salary could you expect to be offered to a highly experienced UK teacher at a job interview with a top tier school in say Penang?
@@RushmoorFizzbomb we would say at least RM15,000 per month. You can watch the following video for more details: ua-cam.com/video/XYR_VTd7fx8/v-deo.htmlsi=1PgALTlSlxyq2YDl
I absolutely love Baba Hur!! Their doner is so tender n chips are thick and generous.. iskender is a must try!!
@@munster77 and the great thing is, they have another restaurant that will be opening soon, this time in PJ!

I have a question about universities in Malaysia: I have 2 kids that will be at university age in 2 and 4 years after finishing their school. We live in The Netherlands and consider moving to Malaysia but wonder what the best choice would be for them to do: go to a university in Malaysia of in The Netherlands? What do you plan for your own kids? Thank you for your reply.
Hi, our daughter will be starting university this year. She plans to study at the 'University of Nottingham' Malaysia campus and then spend the final year of her degree at the UK campus. You can find our video on this using the following link: ua-cam.com/video/rQP0fg0pRng/v-deo.htmlsi=P1j_gFvIWktNB-g0

I am currently doing my PGCE in the UK having taught TEFL in Vietnam for 7 years previously.I have visited Malaysia quite a few times and really like it there it's a great balance of things and lifestyle. Do any schools hire NQT's and help them complete there NQT training...Cheers,thanks for the great video!
@michaelstanbrook7194 Hello Michael. Most schools do look for 2 years teaching experience when hiring from abroad. Although it may be worth emailing the school before you apply. Wishing you all the best!
100% agree with renting over buying at least at the moment. My wife is Malaysian so the high minimum price does not effect us. We plan on living in KK within the next 2 years. At the moment we can’t see any advantage of buying over renting. Renting is literally half the price in KK
@@SeosamhMacUaid We agree. Buying a home will not give you a return on your investment, only more expenses.
@ your spot on. One of the houses we looked at the rent was 3,500 pcm but the mortgage repayment would be nearly 7,500 pcm plus the transaction cost I.e stamp duty, 20% deposit etc Feels like 2008 is about to happen again
Do schools in Malaysia hire non-native ESL teachers, specifically Arabs?
Schools in Malaysia will generally hire local ESL teachers as they are cheaper to hire than expats. However, if they do have the budget to hire an expat, they will tend to look for a native speaker with suitable qualifications. PGCE or equivalent teacher training qualifications would be an advantage if you are looking to apply to International schools. This said, it is still worth applying. Alternatively you may also try applying to English Language centres in KL. Wishing you all the best.
Great video and well presented respect from Dubai appreciated make more videos on malaysian school college and universities ❤

@@danaroundtheworld1741 hi, this would be monthly.
Must be monthly which is why the jobs are so scarce
Oh man, when you guys are back in the UK, head to liverpool, right in the city centre very close to the lime train station, there's this halal, muslim operated tiny corner shop called the best kebab. I swear they had the best tasting, fresh, fluffy, soft, steaming hot fish and chips I have ever tasted while staying in the UK for 1 year about a couple of years ago, and I have tried several chippies from halal stores in different parts of england too, in manchester, blackpool, etc
@jonmath4182 thanks for the recommendation! Stodgy comfort food in the cold weather just hits differently!
Please invite him to open a shop here in Malaysia.
@@safandsara if you're from preston (I think) then you should go and try them at brownlow hill, a short walking distance from lime street station, opens around 4pm until 3 or 4 am. I never tried other food in their menu, specifically and exclusively only for their fish and chips! Oh BTW this was more than a year ago, so don't blame me if things are different now haha

@LisaLisa-mo2tg if you ever are in the UK, then you must try! Fish and Chips taste different in the cold weather 😃
@@safandsara tell me about it! Once I traveled to one of the european cities by flight from manchester, and after the return flight, got the car parked at the airport and drove back to liverpool, haven't had dinner and it was close to midnight already, stopped by in liverpool city centre and headed to a favorite corner store called the best kebab. The door was kept open, so while intently focused on devouring the steaming hot fish and chips (the best I've ever had in the UK, thick, fresh, soft and fluffy flesh) it was hard to tell whether the steam coming out from my mouth was due to the cold air from outside or from the hot chippy! Drove 10 minutes back home feeling full and contented! 😋☺️
Excellent vlog 👍
Thank you 👍

What a wonderful video, fish and chips is still one of my favorite comfort food.
Have you guys tried the fish and chips from Secret Recipe, quite good for the price of @ RM20+. The fish and chips from the Manhattan Fish Shop is also quite good.
My late mom used to make fish and chips for us every now and then, I love the dish so much. I always help her in the kitchen, she didn't use the crispy batter, but instead a cream crackers crumb coating for a really thick slice of Spanish Mackerel, and the potato are thick chips, not thick french fries.
@Yasin_Affandi wow cream crackers and mackerel. That sounds like a really interesting combination. You were blessed with a brilliant mother!
@@safandsara Alhamdullillah. Yes, my late mom was a great cook. She can do many types of dishes, not only Malay, but Chinese, Indian and Thai. On top of that, she also know how to make some of the British comfort food like fish and chips, baked beans breakfast, trifle etc. 😀
