Hedgewitch Honey

Mainly about bees, my poly tunnel and the odd other hobby
Summer swarm 2024
Just a short video of a small swarm I caught earlier in the summer. This swarm expanded reasonably quickly considering it was a relatively small swarm. We had some great nectar flows this year and it was my best honey production so far. So that probably accounts for why all my swarms and splits did so well.

Wow crazy flooding reminds us of our horrible floods of 2021. Stay safe, Ali ☔️🌞🇨🇦
This brings back memories of Miss Marple.
I have 3 tomatoes left it’s going to be sad when it’s done with 😢
👍👍👍
I love fall and the clean up process it gives us something to look forward to for next season. You did a fab clear out 👍. Have a super weekend, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
It was like a jungle. Looks a lot better now., 🙂
😂excuse us ladies. I tried a gimbal it made me dizzy filling 😂😂. But the sunshine looks lovely 🥰, have a fab weekend, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
*Promo SM* ✋
Wow 🤩 this looks amazing 🤩
I have only ever seen one swarm in my life and it was very scary but you handled this very calmly, great job 👏, Ali 🥶🌞🇨🇦
Bees are least aggressive when they swarm. Less likely to sting than at any other time.l
oh wow😳
05:07 scared the crap out of me. lol. Great Vid. 👍
Nice. More Hedgewitch honey.
Happy bees 🐝 are always a good thing. It looks like a nice day there so hopefully the storm in the UK passed you by. Have a most awesome week ahead and happy gardening 👩🌾, Ali ☔️🌦️🇨🇦
Way more professional than my cockups😂 we knows what you mean👍
Tomatoes are looking really good 👍 mine are still tiny. Great idea about the drip feeder. Lol we all do that film and not record 🤦🏼♀️. Have a super week and Happy Easter 🐣, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
Hahahaha. Whoops a Daisy. 🧠👇🏻📷 Apart from the monumental cock-up. The audio sounds crystal clear.
I got all the audio, the mic was running all the time. For a video it makes great radio.
🤭🤭 I thought we were going to be singing 🎶🎼🎵🎤. Sound is awesome 😎. Seedlings are looking awesome and yes here too in SW Canada definitely crap weather. Happy gardening and happy Easter 🐣, Ali ☔️🇨🇦
The difference is night and day. Glad you like it. 🎙 The polytunnel is looking amazing and great video as always. 😁
Great sound 🙌🏻🌱 love the tour 🌱
Oh wow awesome 👏, I am doing the “sunshine seedling shuffle” too 😅. Hope it grow well for you 💪💪. Happy gardening 👩🌾 and have a wonderful weekend, Ali 🥶🌞🇨🇦
Great content 😊
Thank you 😁
Great video quality 💪💪. I should have used my Canon but nooo I have to go spend a bomb on a GoPro and add ons 🤦🏼♀️. I wish warm is a wishful think. 😂😂 I am like you I am not a fan of teeny tiny pricking out jobs. A really good video and look forward to the updates. Have a super week, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦 😂😂😂double it
Was wondering What type of fertilizer you are using? I am repotting my chillies at the week end.
Chicken manure pellets and a good handful of worm castings when I first re-potted them. Then the odd top dressing with blood, fish and bone throughout the growing season and occasional sprinkle of the chicken pellets. Not together though, maybe alternate months.
Going to do my reapers soon. Was waiting how long for an update. 👍
I know, been a tad busy. Playing with Tools Olympus, see what the video is like with that. Shouldn't be too hard growing chillies in central Spain.
Chicken manure pellets and a good handful of worm castings. Then the odd top dressing with blood, fish and bone throughout the growing season.
@@HedgewitchHoney It's probably easy growing them in central Spain. But I'm in western Spain, not central. Lol.
Instead of water you can rig up a way to heat up a large barrel of sand it will retain the heat better and keep warm longer.
Sand would work. It's only a small 5 foot square greenhouse so I can't have anything too big in there.
Love your candles. Very clever. Parts of Australia get frost. Minus 4C was my lowest last winter. I’m going to try both your ideas. Thank you for the suggestion. 👍
You're welcome. Just remember to keep the flame just low enough that it doesn't smoke.
@@HedgewitchHoney I made 2 last night. I only had citronella oil, so I thought I’d make those for my out door area. They worked well, very impressed. I saw what you mean about the flame. It did burn down after a time though. I’ll buy the right oil and make some more.
Love the date stamp.
Ah yes, the one on the dash cam, I really need to reset that.
Looking a bit chilly there I can relate it has dropped to minus 3c again here at night, but end of Feb is looking promising. I’m sowing some flowers but not much else 👍. Have an awesome week and happy gardening, Ali 🥶🇨🇦
It's actually quite warm here at the moment. Night time temperature in the poly has not dropped below 7c for over a week now. For a couple of days it's been warm enough for all my bees to be up in the air. Apparently we're in for an arctic blast and possible snow within the next few days so I probably shouldn't gloat too much 😄
Hi , I've just found you through a video about reducing the flow on a Fluval Flex pump , How did you reduce your flow ? I've drilled 4 holes ( 5mm ) in the up pipe , I think it needs a lot more .
I'm sure you must have the wrong person. I used to keep fish but it was a long while ago. Do you have a link to the video in question?
@@HedgewitchHoney ua-cam.com/video/eQGqjS19dsA/v-deo.html
@@fossil9559 God that was 6 years ago. I know what you're talking about now. I didn't manage to reduce the flow. The way I did it was to cover the inlet and outlet vents on the inside with green washing up scourers to prevent my shrimps from entering the filter compartments. That was the best I could do and it seemed to work OK. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
@@HedgewitchHoney Okey Dokey , thanks 🙂
Wow you can afford TWO pomys, loaded !
Yes, saved up all my pennies. £1.75 each from Sainsburys and one was completely rotten so just as well I bought two.
Nice. I reckon the next episode should be totaly Carniverous and vegan free. 🙂
It’s a right cold one 🥶 it was minus 14c in the poly this week. I’m hopeful things will recover and it will warm up soon. Have a fab week keep warm, Ali 🥶🥶🇨🇦
Thank goodness it's not that cold here. I needed my new coat and woolly hat on today and it was only -2.
Ahh a new channel I enjoy smaller channels and the community it creates. I grow more and more flowers in amongst my veg now for the bees 🐝. Have an amazing week stay safe, Ali 🥶🥶🇨🇦
Thank you. What started as an experiment with a little Raspberry Pi to make a video using my tunnel as the subject is slowly becoming an obsession.
@@HedgewitchHoney 🤭🤭 welcome to the obsession club then
That’s one way of doing it. 😂
So informative 😂😂
Aren’t you supposed to break it up and plant the seeds inside ?
Imagine how long the short would be if I did it that way :)
😂 brilliant
Nothing like delicious egg shells for breakfast. 🥚 Of course it’s a town…. It has a market… That’s never there…. 😂
What's that growing along the side of the tunnel? Grape vine?
It is indeed a Black Hamburg grape vine. It was three times larger than it is now but it had so many grapes last summer it snapped all the wires it was growing on and collapsed on the floor. Five full barrow loads of grapes I gave away to locals to make wine. Pointless growing that many grapes, you can only eat so much grape jelly so I cut over two thirds of it back. One of the jobs before spring is to rehang it properly with heavier duty wire.
Wow that's great all those days on small amount of paraffin. How much does it cost per litre? Where do you get it?
It does use very little and certainly keeps the temperature in that mini greenhouse around 5 degrees above the main tunnel. It costs £10 for 4 litres and I get mine from the local hardware shop in ther village. It's only a small heater and wouldn't stand much of a chance in a bigger area.
Wow. 9-10 days. That’s impressive. Enjoying this series. Keep em coming. 😊
Lovely 😍 😊
Brings back memories of Miss Marple.
How long did it take to render on the pi5? 4gb or 8?
It’s only a 5 minute video at 720p as a start. I rendered it about 4 times at different stages, learning different functions of the software and the average was around 15-17 minutes. Next attempt is going to be 1080 so we’ll see what happens. It’s definitely a hell of a lot faster than my Pi 4’s. It’s 8gb with a 256 ssd card. A smaller card may help speed it up a tad but all my 64gb cards are in my GoPro’s.
Nice one! I'm just about to test mine out now here, seems like they need an active fan nowadays though which is a bit annoying..
@@DConnor799 I bought the Geekworm heavy duty aluminium case. It's great at keeping the temperature down, works a treat. Being a completely enclosed heavy duty aluminium box it's an even better Faraday cage completely preventing my Pi from connecting to my wifi network. So I'm back to an open Pi with a little fan from a Pi4 case until my official red and white case comes.
FROM 0:47 TO 0:57 THERE IS SPIRIT ORBS GOING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE LOWER THIRD MOVING TO THE LEFT SIDE, STOP, WAIT, THEN DISAPPEAR NEXT TO THE BUSHES. BUT ACTUALLY IT IS THE REFLECTION OF THE TAIL LIGHTS OF THE CAR IN THE STREET.
The out of focus spiderwebs In front of the CCTV cameras give weird effects in infrared light as well.
