The best Weber kettle thermometer port! Super quick and easy install!
Переглядів 10 тис.2 роки тому
Hey all! Thanks for checking out my channel. In today's video I show how to install what I think is the best thermometer probe port for your Weber kettle grill. This will work on any other grill or smoker as well. The ports can fit 1 or 2 probe wires per port. So installing 1-3 ports may be ideal depending on your setup. The best part is they can be closed off when not in use, and they look gre...
First hand drill friction fire in years! Established coal in 1 minute and 34 seconds!
Переглядів 463 роки тому
I've had this on my mind for a while now. I haven't practiced any form of friction fire since around 2013 or so. It's an activity that I used to have a lot of fun doing, because it's a challenge. I went out earlier this evening to grab a mullien stalk and some cottonwood from a section of woods nearby came home and spun up a coal on my first try with a hand drill in years. I got a coal establis...
DIY Woodworking Bench Cookies

woodworking equipment can be really expensive sometimes. Or sometimes it doesn't make sense to pay for something that is very simple to make. Here is a real quick video on how to make some really cheap, or even free bench cookies for your wood shop!

What engine do you have?
Did you not have to remove that wiring box with the 3 bolts on the inside of the cab where that grommet in the firewall is? I looked underneath on my truck and it seems to be covering that grommet location
do you find this better than a grill grommet
how many probes can go thru and the correct location on the grill.
great idea! will it accommodate 2 probes? Thanks!!
It sure does. You can probably use 3 I just haven’t done it.
This is the best video on hooking up a CB or Ham radio that I have found on UA-cam. I've been trying to find a video for this installation on my 2017 Chevy Silverado. I have one question, I am wanting to include running my antenna by this method also. Will the RG58 also fit thru this grommet? The coax has PL259 male connectors on the ends, which are standard size for most all CB radios. These connectors are about the diameter of a nickel. My Silverado still looks new, and I want a "clean install" that doesn't show any wires. I am going to mount a 5 foot FireStik on the front truck bed wall, then run the coax underneath the truck to the engine, and don't want to remove plastic door molding.
Thanks! Really glad you found it informative. I had to make a slit with a razor in the grommet to pass the power wires through. You would have to do the same to fit your pl259 connectors through. They may be a bit big but it should be doable. Otherwise you may have to cut one off, pass it through and then resolder it.
@@The_Craftsman_Thanks for the quick reply, I may have to make my own video of the process. I don't think I can solder this type of coax though, may have to buy different coax that has removable ends.
I just put 285/75/18s on my 17 chev and had to take off the front flaps and cut the fender wall on a 2” level. Rubbed like hell.
So simple. Thank you
What size engine do you have 6cyl/5.3/6.2
How easy was it to get through the inner grommet of the firewall?
piece of cake
Great video, I did this exact thing for my Smokey Joe mini WSM. How many probes can you fit through that port?
Grrat mod, i did this for my Weber Mini WSM. Its a clean low profile probe port.
That looks good! Skinny tires are the way to go. Farm tractors here in SoCal after it rains track in the thickest of mud with ease using tall skinny tires.
Great idea and video thanks for posting it. Question: How much does the nipple protrude into the grill? My current port interferes with the placement of the grate . I have a 26 Premium with the lid holder which places 2 cap nuts on the opposite side of the handle. I installed one of those fancier looking nipples with the compression sleeve , but as said above it makes getting the grate in a pita.
Thanks Steve. It only protrudes into the body of the grill by about 1/8”, or the thickness of the interior nut. It’s worked out great, with multiple uses a week since I made the video.
Thanks. I was looking for this setup... I have the same rims
Can you see the wire right away if you use that firewall? Or do I need to remove the box underneath the dash?
I stuck a coat hanger through first and was able to see and feel for it.
Why haven’t I thought of this…. Thanks man.
So I guess I should be great with 285/70/17 with 2 inch level. 2015 silverado 1500 with mud guards. No rub.? Rims 8.5 +25 offset.
Looks great.👍 I had been thinking about doing a 2.5 inch rough country with 275 or 285s on stock 18 inch rims with my 2016 Sierra Z71 extended cab.
Thank for the tricks and tips! Awesome! 🤟
It looks like it has been about a year, any rust where you drilled? Are the lamp nipples and hex nuts tight enough to keep moisture away from the exposed edge of the kettle? Thanks!
Great mod. But I would use a 1" nipple and cut off any excess. The ½" was not quite long enough.
Alex, thank you for the great video. I am going to Ace hardware tomorrow to purchase the parts to make this mod to my grill.
Got me a 2016 with 3 inch on front 2 inch in back. Would you say that you could go with a taller but not wider tire and it wouldn’t have any issues? Like how much clearance do you have as far as being able to go full wheel lock and no rubbing?
Mine will only rub at full lock in reverse. Otherwise not one issue since I switched to this size tire.
I’m glad I found this before performing a different mod! Have you noticed any smoke leaks or change in maintaining temperature when using a single probe?
No issues with leaks or temp inconsistencies at all! Been working great for a ton of long smokes.
@@The_Craftsman_ Awesome, thanks! I just ordered the items from my local Ace and will pick up them up and install before my next smoke session.
Great idea. Simple, easy to follow instructions. Question: can two probe wires fit through the same nipple?
Wow. This is an awesome idea and exactly what I was looking for. I have to say this is the quickest I have subscribed to a channel ever.
Awesome! Thank you!
Nice! Might do this on my pellet grill. How many probe wires fit thru 1 port at a time?
2 without issue for sure. 3 or 4 might be doable.
Very neat job, thanks for sharing all the details. Quick question, do the hinged grates on the master touch open and close without catching on the inside of the pit?
Correct. They don't catch on anything. Thanks for watching!
Great idea!👍👍
Thank you!
Nice job, thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it!
Genius! Easy. Simple.
Thank you much!
Best solution I’ve seen so far. Bravo!
Thank you very much!
I just installed two brass temp probe ports as you explained and they look great and were super easy to do. Special thanks for you idea and demo/instruction on how to do this modification!! Looks so professional !!
Thank you! So glad it worked well for you!
Rub??
285 from Goodrich are 32s
Incorrect. 285 is the width of the tire. There are several sizings of 285 tires. 75 is the aspect ratio which combined with the wheel diameter equals the height. For a 285/75r17 bfg all terrain, the diameter is 33.9"
Best port mod video I’ve seen! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words! Glad you liked the video!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Making a list of mods for my new Weber Kettle and this is now on the list. Great video, so glad you showed the parts while in the original packaging, makes it easier to find the parts.
Glad I was able to help!
Do you think these tires would rub on a stock trail boss?
Hey man, any issues off road with rubbing? Looking at picking a set up
None at all.
With the price of wood right now that was about a $10 piece of coal though!
Too funny. Thanks!
Hey nice job!!
What PSI are you running in these tires?
Did you have to do any gear adjustments going from 265s?
I didn't have to change Anything when we put my 2" leveling kit on. Wish I had gone with a 3" though...
Hi, sweet truck.. I currently have the same tires 285 70 17 and I have an option to go 285 75 17.. I have a Chevy Silverado 2005 and I have a two and a half inch level. I talked to one shop that said it would be a big mess with rubbing but it looks like I might have to only trim a tiny bit on the driver's side plastic.. I'm running American racing Baja 0 offset.
thanks! getting ready to install same size on stock rims on my 2013 silverado with 2.5 lift/level kit. now i know it will work awesome!
Did your's end up rubbing?
Thomas. Did it rub on your 2013?
Same
2.5" took my rake out perfectly!!!
Glad to hear!
Your set-up is perfect. Noticeably different from stock, but not obnoxious and not a trailer queen. Looks like a no nonsense truck. I have a 17 ram 1500 with the factory 265 70 17's on. THIS is exactly the look I'm going for also. More tire than rim. Thanks for the video.
Nice Bing and Alax
How it work towing a trailer?
Have towed multiple boat trailers very well with it. Thanks for the view.
Gazing at the stars with any sort of tongue weight, I’m sure.
