Just like a 63 Ferrari GTO, few men will ever know what it is (was) like to operate the ultimate offshore wave crushing machine. Triple Hawk 1,000's? NICE
I lived on the inter coastal in st pete in the 80’s , there was a Top Gun w/2 Hawk 540’s & DAMN i liked getting woken up by him !! The 80’s were the best times !!👍
Who knows this boat? This is the 47 that was painted almost identical to the 41’ Allez Vite race boat? There was a little story behind this but I cant quite remember it; it had a bit of comedic relief iirc that involved the name of the boat?
That was my boat, I bought the 47 hull from Apache and had the rigged by Bobby Moore Custom Marine in 1991 - Engines were 3x Ritchy Zul each 1050hp and Keekhaver 7 drives - I had the paintwork made very similar to the Allez Vite because I really liked this boat
You have obviously never been in open water wide open in 6 to 10 ft seas hey if you and your friends wanna try to make a road course out there be my guest ..but you just try swinging a 47 ft power boat thru the turns at speed tell me how boring you think it is...
@@TheRoguelement when I took a vacation to Florida I took a jetski out from johns pass then went to tarpon springs then back. I had a Yamaha that ran about 49 knots. I was flying going wide open in 2-3 foot seas near the shore but it was 4-5 about a mile and a half out. My body was sore as hell. I can’t imagine wit feels like going 90 mph in 6-8 foot seas. 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Apache
Worked at a marina all thru high school and college on the Great Lakes. Been out in Vs and cats. A V in 4-5 footers there’s nothing like it. Just the pure engine noise as the throttles are worked is enough t keep it from getting boring
3 engines each burning about 40 gallons/hour at a Joe Biden marina $5/gallon cost. This equals about $600/hour in gasoline. This cost $$$ should double by summer of 2021.
What a trio!!! Zull, Moore & McManus ALL hangin' tough in an Apache 47'. What a TRUE TREAT it would be to hang out, with these guys, in this boat for s day. These are 3 of the most highly respected, admired & well liked individuals in the offshore race boat industry. Yeah, I realize there's a whole new wave of boats, riggers & racers; especially those involved with cats. However, these 3 are LEGENDARY; wrote the book on motors, utilizing throttle men & building the finest offshore 24 ° Deep V racing boats today.
@@dennismoore9147 I'm truly sorry to hear that, I became a fan of his early on. If my memory is correct he was the very first one in professional boat racing that brought the concept of having both a wheel & throttle man when racing. Bobby, they say, was the very best at "working the stix"!!! I had a Cigarette 24' Firefox back in the day. Castaline Marine did the rigging for me. Do you know Jay? I can't ever say enough good things about him; I still feel lucky, to this day, having met him and being a customer of his. His craftsmanship, knowledge, expertise was spot on; most of all he was as honest as the day is long. My Cigarette turned out better than when it was brand new. Can't slow down time; unfortunately. I'd better get myself that damn Top Gun before I no longer can. Dennis thank you for the heads up about Bobby. Even though I never had the opportunity to have met him; I sure as hell enjoyed watching him in action! From what I both read & observed; he was one of the rock star quiet ones; no hoopla, no bragging, no cheer leading. He smiled with minimal dock conversation pre race. He'd climb aboard, smile a few times when doing so, field a few reporter questions when asked; then go off & do his thing but always in a Very Big Way! His talents always did the talking for him. I watched him on many 8 track videos? How's that!?! Dennis, please accept my condolences for you're loss. Once again, I never had the privilege of meeting Bobby; but I certainly did enjoy reading about him & watching him in ACTION! It may sound strange to say, I'm somewhat saddened by you sharing this news with me. I always liked the "quiet ones"; don't say much, but take it to the ones with the Big Mouths! So yeah, Bobby Moore, Mark McManus are 2 names that come immediately to mind. People not only admired but had the utmost respect for him; a true legend, one of the very great "quiet ones".
Nothing can touch it; the pre-2000 Cigarette Rough Rider would give it a run for it's money! But in the end, I gotta go with Apache. Up to 2000, I was a HUGE Cigarette fan. I jumped ship, when they went with step hulls. Now? Lovin' those Apaches!,,,,,,,😎.

Just when you thought you've seen every Apache video on UA-cam.
No wonder Cuban cartels used this specific boat lol
Great tune Miami Vice Put this song on the map!
Going fast... sure... but always in straight lines... maybe it becomes boring after a moment... 😴😴😴

needs a running pad and more power.

If your running triple blown engines the cost of fuel has to be low on priorities.
@@MrGreenLeader Haha yeah the 1% uses the cost of gas as a tax write off.
Really Karen? Enjoy the video and take your political bullshit somewhere else.
Just awesome!
Wowser, Zull went from running race cars to race boats. He built motors for the Bertram team back when Bertram raced. He’s been around from the start.
Looks like a 47' Apache can eat just about anything thrown at it. I would like to have that up here on the Merrimack, rippin' out the jetties at 85.
I’d pay anyone my paycheck for a month to flyby wide open pass the Haverhill “yacht club” just up river.
How is his hat still on

A triple engined Apache 47, in my opinion still the best offshore powerboat.
