The beginning of a restoration project. My 1966 Rover 2000 p6 series 1 in willow green. In the video I show the car exactly as I had it complete with 15 years of dust. After replacing the ignition consumables and putting fresh fuel in the float bowl the car starts but is far from "running".

Bravo on a very nice video, all work & no fuss. I will use it as a guide as I do my own 02 620. What was that tool you used at the 16:08 mark to position the upper pulley, to get the belt on it? Do you also do the valve clearances check? Again Bravo!

Very good Ben. Actually it was interesting watching you deal with those small bolts that had held on the back plate - drilling them and forcing in a star point until you had sufficient purchase to ease them out 🙂

how the Hell did it run with the belts that lose,, holy cow! when i got my '94 monster 900 the vert belt was one tooth off and the hoz, belt was 3 teeth off.. it ran.. but it ran much better when i corrected the timing. I don't see how yours didn't jump timing. right now mine has a broken cylinder bold on the hoz cylinder. I'm dreading changing it out. I have the bolts, i just need the gasket set.

Is it necessary to adjust the track after performing this work?

As your not taking the track rod off there should be no need to have the tracking done

Driving with only one brake shield? Life must be too long for you.

Thanks for this video Ben. I need to replace one on my R56 and doing this without removing the strut looks the best way to go. Those brake disc shields are crap and cost around £40 each. I have managed to chisel the mounting screws loose before and then replace them with M5 s/steel dome head screws from Screwfix. The disc retaining screws are also a nightmare if they are stuck. They obviously dont use anti seize compound at build. If you are keeping the car I would spray the new bearing assy before fitting as these are untreated steel.
