Idk if this is late but you should check the school website for the audition information!

I believe 10th grade auditions do still exist, though it isn't clear if this would be a lot harder. There will certainly be less seats, but also less applicants.

Congrats, that’s amazing!!! Keep in mind you will have a longer school day at LaGuardia and will have to take extra music classes. If you don’t want that, or want to focus mostly on academics, that might take up too much of your time.

Hi Claris, it's hard to say but this year the acceptance rate may have gone down because the new administration has tightened the audition requirements and made the bar for artistic talent higher. We're not sure if it's much more difficult for an incoming sophomore vs freshman to get in. Take a deep breath, be confident in yourself, practice, and make sure to get a good night's sleep beforehand.

Hi there! 1. Yes, you may. 2. As long as your grades meet the minimum academic requirements, you should be alright. The audition is most important. Note that, for auditioning into 10th grade, only grades from your 8th grade year are counted. This, we believe, would mean that you should have at least a 75 in each of the core subjects you took in 8th grade. Here is what Sophia Wang (the art major in the video) had to say: Practice drawing people (full body). For example, you could have a guardian pose and draw the pose. The figure drawing from the audition is from observation (when I took it). Make sure that your drawing is not small (take up the space on your paper without falling off the paper). Then, after a while, practice in a timed environment. The audition is (or when I took it) was timed. Try drawing a figure in 20 minutes (I don’t know exactly how much time will be allotted especially this year). Practice will help you better especially in terms of figure drawing. 4. Hi there- grades matter, yes, in the sense that you should have a decent average and overall grades and test scores. However, grades are only one component- the main part is the audition. Especially with the older audition system making a comeback (previously, grades mattered a bit more because of the old administration), the actual audition will likely be most crucial to getting accepted into LaGuardia.
