Here LucasIsNyla aka Lucrex. I started editing Liquipedia on 2021 and I never expected that AoM would grow this big. reDy, Loki, Tomas Shelby, me and many others worked so hard on making the pages and and making AoM players gain recognition for AoEIV. I'm so glad that AoM is growing :D

First of all - Ivan Mladek is not only a musican, but also a comedian. His band does a lot of parodies and comedic songs, and this one is not exception. It is essentially a warsaw pact version of medieval knightly tales. Song is quite popular (as a joke) in many central and eastern european coutries. In Poland love for it was reborned around 2005-2010, when one of Polish cabater groups made a parody of it, singing about polish Prime Minister at the time.

I'm very excited for the future. Not sure if the game will have a large enough audience to sustain attractive S-tier tournaments, but am hopeful.

That's all cool, but in the end it's up to the community to not let the developers ruin this game, as so many others do when they get money hungry. I hope they don't keep drastically patching and changing the meta every few days and find an actual balance for the game

I agree with what you are saying. I do think that the biggest impact for the Retold esports scene would be if the popular streamers/content creators of AoE 2 and AoE 4 switched. Viper, Hera, Beasty are the biggest names in AoE esports in the West. They draw the biggest stream viewers by far. Having them switch to Retold would be the greatest difference maker. However, I am not sure I see that happening due to different circumstances. Then you have other content creators, SpiritoftheLaw, Drongo, T90 etc.. The biggest content creators are still in AoE 2 and AoE 4. I am not sure what it would take to have all of these names swap to Retold, but it would solidify the future of the competitive scene for many years if it happened.

Great that there are companies/LLC teams announcing entry in Retold but this was already seen with de3 where lot of big hype surrounding the launch did occur for competitive momentum; for it to drop to 3k players after 4 months from release, I just don't see how viable is the traditionally least played aoe game to have a longterm playerbase competing with the likes of de2 and aoe4. It's exactly 8k on the 24h peak after 1 month of release and the PvE and non-aom PvP dudes are already gone to partially moving out from the game with only the voobly gang playin. Eventually it's gonna consolidate to exact science of getting voobly fellers on ranked by the current downward spiral. I wish luck to the fellas who want that compensation from playing AoT voobly for the 13 or so years on top of 7 years ESO AoT if they want to turn their hobby into their livelihood and this comment is not meant to disregard the value and importance of the announcements Ironmaiden have relayed to us.

The myth units provide a lot more micro potential too. For those higher level players to get a lot more value out of them if properly used. Also with the new population increase in retold it makes everything better. You can't just sit under towers and fortresses because the enemy will have enough population to punish that kind of playstyle. That means that they have their place but it's not overwhelming. Also you asked what I think it could look like and some of the hiccups. I think the game seems very well balanced on release. Even the new norse god freyr they introduced was done very well and gives me confidence we will see the same level of care and quality in future dlcs like the Chinese dlc. They just need to be careful not to let power creep get to out of control because the new civs are going to cost money to get. I don't think it's fair to make them stronger than the current pantheons. Even though it's likely most people will have them. I think once the pros really start to develop the ''meta'' we will see a lot more competitive tournaments and stuff.

Retold deserves all the attention it’s getting and more. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty friggin close. And we will all benefit from more pros and players coming to the game and bringing attention to this amazing game. Probably the best game release since elden ring in my opinion.

3:18 once he sees his own giraffes location he knows his opponents aswell - he just went there to make sure, for all intents and purposes he didn't even need to scout the enemies giraffes location to know where it is. Stuff seems reliably mirrored in 1v1s. edit: nvm, I guess maps are not _that_ mirrored
