unfortunately i don't have experience purchasing photocards from them, but i have bought books before. for packaging those, they usually put the books stacked together on a piece of cardboard and wrap them with plastic. for the most part, they arrive in great condition! some of the individual books were also in their own plastic packaging but not all. haven't had any major issues so far, but i would be cautious of buying cards if you are worried about damages. that being said, i would recommend suruga-ya for their free shipping campaign (which they do pretty often!)

hmm i would probably recommend akihabara! especially radio kaikan, which has many floors of shops with anime merch. i wasn’t able to explore it that much at the time, but i heard there are some great deals you can find there. i’ve been to a couple second-hand stores in ikebukuro as well, but i wouldn’t say they’re as common. ikebukuro has a huge animate flagship store close by to sunshine city though!! i would also check out any book-off, suruga-ya, or k-books locations if you’re okay with buying pre-owned goods (usually in good condition)
