Hello where could I get the Timeline ?
Hello I am in love with your Channel, how you share to help us with our homeschooling. From Morocco I Watch every videos you’ve posted. Do you follow any channel like yours with the same principles and little children from 3 to 6 ?
Thank you this is exactly what I needed to see 😊 I'm going to use this with two 4th grade girls to help teach them these skills. It will be a supplement to help them practice in an engaging way.
What camera do you use?
Beautiful homeschool space, thanks for sharing. We do lots of reading too
Thanks for watching!
Hello love your videos and I follow all your New uploads❤️ how old is the little girl ? My son is 4,5 years old and my daughter 3
Sorry I just had my answer in the video 😊
Wintertime , nice for stew, potato soup and corn muffins! Early Dinner about 6, younger three bedtime around 7pm, older 2 around 8pm and let them read themselves to sleep. Mom and Dad time, after 8pm!
No worries! They are close to yours in age - 5 and 3!
Thank you for watching! I am glad you enjoy them!
That sounds like a great evening routine.
SOLD. This is exactly what we were looking for, also coming from a Montessori background. Love that they start with cursive and we can still use our Montessori materials.
Yes, it is so great for those with a Montessori background!
@ thanks for making the video, wishing you a happy new year 🤍
@@Lamamalou happy new year to you as well!
Thanks for sharing, Julia!! Do you celebrate Christmas? 🎉✨️🎄✨️
Yes, we celebrate both! We also light a Menorah for Hannukah (and talk about the meaning behind Hannukah) as we have close family who are Jewish.
We get up very early and go to the beach for sunrise. Then I also make sunbread and we’ll have soup for dinner.
That sounds lovely. Happy Solstice!
Do you follow a montessori curriculum for math?
I don't use a put-together Montessori curriculum, but I use the Montessori math lessons in the early years, and incorporate the materials as a supplement to the Math Mammoth curriculum they start using in 1st or 2nd grade.
I also started this curriculum this year. It is excellent - explicit instruction but not dry, wonderful literature selections, reasonable assignments. Like you I started my fourth grader in an accelerated D so that we get all of the wisdom tales!
Yes! Great minds think alike! 😁
Why study Latin? I did in 10th grade in the 1980s, and I was miserable. My native language derives from Latin, so it should have been easier, but no. The same with Ancient Greek in 11th grade, but that was an elective, Latin wasn't.
That's too bad that you had a bad experience with latin. I think curriculum and teachers can make a big difference, so I tried to find one that is clear and fun. I am choosing to have my children study latin for a couple of reasons. (1) The first is grammar - learning the grammar for latin helps to learn it for English and I am not making her do a separate grammar curriculum while she is doing latin. (2) Secondly is for vocabulary. There are many English words that derive from latin, and many of the tests required to get into universities here test students on vocabulary, so hopefully that will help them do better on those tests (and just have a better vocabulary). (3) Third is to give them a foundation to learn a modern foreign language. Even if they do not chose a language derived from latin, learning about conjugations and other aspects of grammar should make it a little easier. Of course, learning latin is not necessary to have a great education, so I am not judging anyone who does not chose to or does not have the opportunity to study it. But I do feel like it is a benefit to my children's education, so I chose to teach it to them. I hope that answers your question!
@@juliaathome Thank you for your answer, I see it from the other side, I'm a native bilingual Spanish/Portuguese and also speak French, all the vocabulary and verb forms and all that were already in my DNA, but the declensions weren't, and I found them a pain in the **.
Those three books one is red other two are blue with gold writing on spine on shelf next to your white drawer system is very pretty.
I think they are pretty too! They are fairy tale anthologies from Barnes & Noble. They have a line of collectible classic books that I like to pick up for gifts (for the kids and myself!).
Hello love your videos, how old is she ? my son is 4,5 years old
Thank you so much! She is 5 years old, so just a bit older than your son.
Thanks for sharing! I am also doing Montessori homeschool at the kindergarten level. May I ask where you purchase the large plastic needles. I want to start my daughter sewing but leary of using real needles.
Love to hear about another Montessori homeschooler! I got my plastic needles at Michaels - you can probably find them at Joanne or Hobby Lobby or other places like that. You could probably also find them online from those stores as well.
How are you able to do all of this and chores, errands, cooking etc? I am struggling with that right now. Mine are almost 12, 10, 6 & 2.. I'm also trying to wean my toddler..
That is a great question and the short answer is I don't do it all well! I do have to feed us, so grocery shopping happens on the weekends (with some food prep if I can manage, but not often), meals are usually simple and easy right now, and may not have as many veggies as I would like. And the house is much messier than I would like it to be. And if things get too out of control, I will actually pause on school for a day or two so that we can get the house in order. I spend quite a bit of time on the weekend preparing for the week ahead, which makes it doable, but is not ideal as I don't get as much rest time. It is a struggle, and I certainly don't want to look like I do it all. It's especially difficult with little ones - best of luck on weaning the toddler!! 🤗
We are using Bookshark Language Arts and Write By Number and absolutely love it, but I really want to try Exploring The World Through Story. You find awesome curriculum. I found curiosity chronicles and Lively Latin from watching your videos. Thank you!
Thank you! I am glad my videos have been helpful!
I am interested in hearing more about exploring the world through story, as it is something I am considering for next year. Thanks for sharing.
I so wish my 9 year old son would enjoy reading too. I try to get him to read 20 minutes a day but he's always reluctant. He reads very well and his writing and grammar are perfectly on grade level but he's rarely spending his free time with books. Some books he has loved: Magic treehouse Dragon Masters Who would win Cat & cat comics I also found a fantasy series called Beast Quest that was raved about for kids who read above level but still want elementary level fantasy storylines. He's really enjoying the first one so far.
Thank you! He actually just started reading dragon masters (his sister had a bunch) and he has been enjoying them. I will definitely look into Beast Quest.
My oldest son preferred nonfiction to fiction at that age. I got him a lot of science books from the library.
We love Exploring the World Through Story. We did the level you showed last year for 6th grade. We are currently working on the next level.
That's so good to hear!
We did Exploring the World through Story’s Writing Skills for Older Beginners over the summer and really enjoyed it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! We really like it so far, as well!
Beautiful as always. Hope you can make a flip through of both "Exploring the world through Story" and " Writeshop junior" if you can. Would really like to see them from inside , esp , the Exploring the world series.... And soon may be a review of them both.
Thank you! I intend to do those flip-throughs. Glad to know there is interest. 🙂
Thanks for sharing. I’ve never heard of Exploring the World Through Story, could you explain how it works when you say by recitations? I wasn’t sure what you meant. Would love a detailed flip through please and a review after you have used it for a while.
Oh, I meant 'citations' - when you use a quote or refer to something specific in the text as evidence. Then you make a note as to where the reader can find the quote or evidence that you are using. Sorry that was not clear!
@@juliaathome ah thank you, sure it was me though not listening properly :)
I used "Asian Art (come Look with Me)" by Kimberly Lane to pair with our Far East unit.
Oooo, I'm going to check that out. Thank you for the suggestion!
Your history unit breakdowns are so helpful! I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing how you set up this year's unit.
Awesome! Thank you!
Did you mentioned a unit about victorian britian can you please share all the things you used. Im struggling to find things. And when you get the gilded age done
I will definitely share, but it may take a few weeks since I have a backlog of videos. To get started some of my favorite resources have been 'Who Was Queen Victoria,' 'You Wouldn't Want to Be a Victorian Servant,' and a tv show I found on youtube called 24 hours in the past - victorian britain. We also watched the musical movie of Oliver, but heads up that it is violent and the end is kind of scary.
Tea time together poet, artist and composer and it has recipes you download. There are ones for each month and now history periods
That sounds like a very helpful resource!
That is again so amazing and extensive. You should be very proud of yourself. These are so much thorough approach and shows so much your broad knowledge on yjings plus how you have thought yhrough what you wish to cover through their years from k-12. It is amazing to see.❤
Thank you so much for your kind comment.❤️
New subscriber :))
Welcome!!
This is incredible! What amazing resources and thoughtful plans. Thank you for sharing. Feeling very inspired to weave this into our days coming up!
I am so glad you are feeling inspired! I hope you have fun!
Thanks for sharing. We are currently going through chemistry this year for science. I was eyeing that Periodic board game as well. 😊
I enjoy it! Have fun with chemistry!
It’s nice to see you! Hope you have a wonderful homeschool year ❤
Thank you! You as well!
Loved the video...I always like seeing your videos, your choice of books and curriculums for every year and how it has progressed. I can clearly see the immense amount of planning and thought that you put into the process. Please keep making more videos on individual topics or just some chatty ones.. they are incredibly helpful. Hoping you have a wonderful teaching year ahead.
Thank you so much!
I do something similar on the computer and print out a different sheet for each kid for each day. It includes chores, jobs (for my teens), sports, and all school work. I do them for my younger kids, too, and either check them off myself or let them know what to mark.
That's a great idea!
I have a toddler but planning on homeschooling when it’s time. This notebook organizing method seems great! My question is are you re-learning all these subjects as you teach them? 😅 I think I’m having trouble envisioning me teaching things like English and Latin since I wasn’t good at English and never had Latin in school. How do you navigate tracing all subjects at all different levels? My mind is really blown how you and so many other homeschool moms (some with like 8 kids) can teach such a variety in one day as just one person! Not to mention household work! ❤
Well, the housework does not always get done! 😂. I do relearn many of the subjects as I am planning them and with the kids. It is one of the reasons I homeschool - I love learning! Curriculums really walk you through what you need to know. If you think about it, teachers in elementary school and even into middle school often teach many subjects. They are not experts in those subjects; they have training on how to teach and manage a classroom. It is a lot of work, but I love it!
This is super helpful! I thought this would be about note booking as in narrations and such but this was helpful too….when did you implement a daily checklist to begin with your children?
Glad it was helpful! I wasn't sure what to call them! I think I started with my oldest when she was in 3rd grade, and then started implementing it right away with my second as well (who was in 1st grade), because it worked so well!
Thanks for sharing your process
Thanks for watching!
Have a great, peaceful transition to a new school year!!! You are such a great committed mama!!! Thank you ALWAYS for your INSPIRATION 💗
Thank you for your kind comment! I hope you are having a wonderful year as well.
Love the idea of map drills🙌
Do you choose 10 spelling words for your daughter to work on, or do you follow any specific curriculum?
I choose 10, no specific curriculum. I look back over the work that she has done, to see what words have given her trouble, and I also give words that are relevant to what we are learning (such as names of countries) and works that are just tricky in general.
Thank you Julie SO MUCH!!! It is SO SO so helpful to see in detail!!!!! I appreciate your wisdom 🤍
You are very welcome!
Wow you wasted a lot of sticker paper.
❤
Thank you for sharing the walk through of the books!
You are so welcome!
A buddhist congregation is called a "sangha" 🥰
Thank you!
Hi! quick question do you grade any of their work?
That is a great question. I have, but very rarely. It is just to give them practice with test taking. I didn't show them here, but the digital file also comes with tests for the end of each chapter, along with an answer key, so you can use those. I am actually thinking of using them more this coming school year.
Lost me at t swift study 🤪
The beauty is that you can choose a musician you enjoy!
Can you tell me where from is the wonderful music in the background?
It is from epidemic sound. I usually include the music info in the description box, but it seems I didn't this time - sorry! If I figure out what it is I will try to reply here again.
Question, is this an actual store or business or is it all “made believe” I’m not sure I understand. 🙏🏼
Sorry for my delay in response. It is not a real business. They are given fake orders each month as well as an amount of money that they made in "additional sales." I hope that helps!
