Labradar LX Range Day Testing and Lessons Learned
This video is a bit long for the following 3 reasons:
1. 45 ACP and 9 mm pistol testing in a standing position with the supplied tripod as well as my previous Labradar small tripod sitting on the shooting bench top.
2. First time I've ever fully recorded a shooting session live covering all the targets (and I had a couple of FTE to deal with so I did some lubricating without stopping filming. Clearly time for my annual EB cleaning).
3. The recap at home discussing the issues of the range trip as well as the lessons learned.
Absolutely LOVE the compactness of this unit. Not a fan of the included tripod for the reasons I cover. Better to use a Labradar in a seated position, IMO. Less tripod and distance or spacing issues to deal with. Don't be around other shooters who are too close to you, will throw off the device (seems it's easier to pick up sound left or right than it is when shooting too far above the unit). No issues with battery life. Based on my settings and usage, I would expect to get about 4 hours of continuous usage from the unit, but would recommend having a backup battery just in case.

1950 Delta Rockwell Unisaw Restoration Continues: OEM Ball Switch Found and Original Switch Plate
Переглядів 419 годин тому
I have found that whenever restoring something, the big or main cost isn't necessarily with the purchase of the item in need of restoration. It's what I call the "hidden" costs of restoration. Perfect example is this power switch. Sometime between 1950 and 2024 (and WAY before 2024), the original owner decided they did not like or want the lockable, original steel "ball" shaped power switch. So...

Each 24"x24" sheet was more damaged than the previous and never came close to the quality and care (e.g., blue film covering to prevent scratches) described in the listing. After deciding to go with the least damaged piece that I painstakingly cut from a bandsaw I decided I didn't li...

Can you explain why some want to run a sizing/ decapping die when actually running the press from a fired case to a fully reloaded round? Im somewhat new and I always run all my casings through the sizing/decapping die and expander die and then run in the tumbler to clean. After there clean i put away the size die and expander and run the powder drop, lockout, bullet drop, bullet seat and then Lee factory crimp. What am I missing? Do some people not clean there cases or clean them without decapping first? Also if there new cases I always run through a sizer die to before loading.

Reloading a fireformed casing, IMO, is not an issue as long as the reload is used by the same rifle that fired it. However, if you're at the range shooting .223 and the bench to your left and right are also shooting .223 how do you know you're not accidentally picking up their brass? Or what if you have more than one rifle of the same caliber as the fireformed casings? Too many what ifs for me, so I resize all my brass, period. My decrease the lifespan, but also gives me peace of mind. A tradeoff I guess. The beauty of reloading is there are so many processes or ways of doing something a bit differently that yields the same end results...a round that goes bang like it should.

I use the fake-cheapies, and they do the job. I did check file sizes before using and so far, they are correct. Maybe they won't last as long? When at homebase I use an 'Oregon 511' clone bench mounted, when away fakes work for me.😎

Good to know some of the fake ones work. In general, I'm not against purchasing a clone. I am however against being mislead that I'm purchasing the real brand/OEM and paying for that when it's deceptively advertised. When I checked the file sizes of the real against the fake, there were differences, so I clearly got a bad fake. I just did a video on a coffee scale that was a $33 knock off/clone of the $250 version, so I went into that eyes wide open knowing what I was purchasing and at what price. It's the deception and lying or false advertising that irks me.

I was navy school taught, when I was released I took Small Motor Tech lvl 1. Then during the course I found out it included Brazing and MIG. For some reason I aced the theroretical side, and was pulled aside to be talked to by the instructor and Senior instructor. Interesting...as there were a number of folks in my "intro to welding" class that were clearly advanced and already welding practiced. One conversation the instructor had prior to the midterm was with a student was discussing his job (the student) had him welding all day. All students were treated the same (class was overflowing initially, can't say the same 6 weeks later towards the end). I will say even though a short class, the amount of time available to practice on very high end equipment with an endless supply of materials (steel, electrodes, wire types, etc.) was MANY times the value of what the class cost me IMO. Great learning opportunity I would not have done on my own at home with my low end welder.

how much did you pay for it? nice video!

    • @ReLoadersBench
      @ReLoadersBench 29 днів тому

Thanks. Paid more than I wanted to due to my state's limitations, but a lot less than what PPT's were initially going for a year ago (haven't followed current pricing, so not sure what they are now going for). Just north of MSRP/retail, so it wasn't too painful. They laughingly (I was literally laughing at prices I first saw for PPT's) started at $5k when first available "locally" and the hype was off the charts. I waited a year for the dust to settle and the price premium to collapse (nice pew pew, but even at MSRP it's priced too high IMO). I just uploaded my DWX Compact trigger job video. It will go public Tuesday morning.

I could have sworn I read the stock main spring is 23lbs. Did you confirm that it is indeed just a 20lb stock spring? I’ve sent messages to Springfield and I never got a reply. Would love to know, thanks for the video.

Never confirmed with SA on the true mainspring weight, was going along with what I'd seen in other videos. The 17lb spring has worked for me, so it's a keeper.

Working all day with my tools, I try not to use anything less than a 6ah battery. HD had a 2-pack of 6ah for $149 a few months ago. I'm waiting for that sale again. The 2ah die so fast, I only use them in ryobi lights.

As an FYI, Harbor Freight has their "Apache" brand/label box that is slightly larger than the Meijia case and at $12.95 half the cost of the Meijia case. But to answer your question, the rain forest product (Meijia) is "MEIJIA Portable All Weather IP67".

I never worry about accidently turning on any of my equipment. I super glue those silly plastic "keys" into the switches so they can't come out and be lost, lol. Some I've just took out the whole switch and replaced it with a simple toggle switch, like my DeWalt MBF radial arm saw came with when it was new.

Why try to fix or even modify a poorly designed press

Because that's the way my mind works. Quite satisfying to "fix or even modify a poorly designed press" to work nicely 40+ years after it was designed/manufactured.

This Vevor Bandsaw is actually the same as their "Best" brand of Harbor Frieght, their Hercules band saw but at a better price than HF. It also comes with the stand/vise and for the HF its over 100.00 xtra BTW you sound exactly like Tree top flier! Ill have to tell him he has a twin somwhere. 😄😆🤣

This Lee Inline Bullet Feeder, RCBS, or Mr Bulletfeeder? I want something that works well for rifle too. I'm thinking this is the way to go. I'm coming from the Hornady inline bullet feeders which are only for pistol. I thought I heard you say "no" to the RCBS at the end.
