My high school marching band (Santa Teresa High School in San Jose, CA) had the exact same Ludwig drums with the pearl finish in 1991. We used them in 91 through 93.
QB!!!
Louie Bellson and the NBC Orchestra performs "Carnaby Street" on the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Original Air Date: January 19, 1989.
I saw this show live. I thought this was the most innovative and incredible show I ever saw at the time. Changed the activity!
With the exercise at 3:01, what is that tapoff? It sounds slightly behind the downbeat. Maybe there's a rest?
R.I.P. BILLY
❤so great great times
I wish they would bring this tradition back. side note, you can tell the scv drum dudes were pissed about that 20
Sweet beats
This book was insane, early season. It got watered quite a bit by finals. But the early-season version was nuts.
Wow. The Beast of the East. No doubt about that. Those Pearl Ludwigs were so Classy.
Always GREAT, amazing to watch!
I nearly forgot about playing to the champs. Yet another long lost tradition. Gotta love Tom Float in this vid telling Garfield’s drum line to pay attention 😂 Sorry SCV, but you guys didn’t handle your end very well. Sops trying to scream as if throwing a tantrum, drummers busting heads, not very classy. Losing sucks. I know.
Name a line that played more notes CLEANER than this? Top 5 best DCI lines ever. Blows my mind every time.
Who else is here from the Alabama Riverboat TikTok video
Remo Falam ii falam ii on snares?
Ohh that drum buss that summer lol
If I remember right this was 3rd place.
The song is Carnaby Street
Is that glen Crosby mullet I see?
When Epcot was 80s magic 😊
Can't believe I just found this. Wow.
I love the end of the drum break(MEN OF GOODWILL) starting with the snare rolls and the bass drums and tenors: if the drums could speak they would say: COOK COOK COOK COOK COOK…WHAT DID HE DO…HE WROTE THE BOOK!
#quadpimps
where is the rest of the video... the original video had of course these guys, boston, the cadets, the blue devils, crossmen.. i'm going nuts looking for it..
Marched in the horn line this year. I loved this drum feature. The Battery was killer in 98.
Wow, Thanks for uploading this video. I miss playing
This video and a couple performances are hoot places for me
I wish someone caught our 60 sec warm up that year….still waiting for that post 20 years later ha
Is that Chris Vale on the end?
1-800-We-Thicc Lol. I tapped off that crew of hookheads the year before. Nothin' but love....and a GNP sighting!
What a great book and line. 99 was a fun season
Wow, great master musician, I really miss talent like this. RIP....
This song is called Carnaby Street if anyone is interested.
As good or better than buddy easily. A better performance in my opinion. Neil peart is even more in my opinion . All amazing in their own way. Total respect for all three. Mind boggleling. Wow just wow
Great drummer just the best ever go LB
I really wish that full musical ideas like this were expressed today in modern drumcorps. Unfortunately, we live in the age of over-arranging and chop and bop arranging and narration/voice overload. I'm just glad I got to witness it in person before it was gone.
ED CHOI!!!!!!!!
There's Float !
What da hell this is ‘97
When players had to wear the drums in warm up
Joseph
That’s my favorite triplet diddle exercise. So many more variations than the other exercises. I like it so much, that I played it in my own video, with another variation. ua-cam.com/video/hR4BAOqG2qk/v-deo.html
Would that be a COB snare..?
spectacular !!
Too clean to be 2001 line
I was at that taping. He was incredible!
miss how these old lines would groove. the phrases would just keep going and going.
Do you have the original tapes from this warmup?
To me, the top three drummers ever in influence and technical ability would be 1)Buddy 2) Morello 3) Bellson.
