675 Triumph Daytona Engine Test

Engine test following a crash that rendered the bike uneconomic to repair. The engine here was salvageable after a welding repair by a competent welder, to the lower crankcase in the region of the right hand rear engine mount. It was put in another rolling chassis to run it up and make sure it was okay. It's an ex Triple Challenge engine from the 2010 season, where it had a race win! Wasn't use...

Starting the 66 year old Ariel up after a long, long time. This bike has been stood up since 1960 without being used or started, during that time the rodents had been at it, and it was involved in a fire which caused some damage to the wiring and other items, it was lucky to survive! Internally, it was in a hell of a state!
Castle Combe - Honda RS 125

Bike was geared for our usual slightly worked on barrel but over-geared and not able to rev beyond 12.5k on newly run-in standard barrel, and therefore a massive 4 secs a lap down on pace and on my best lap. Camera shake due to temporary mount. Starting off the back of the grid due to missing previous race.

What is the switch gear on the left handlebar...choke ????
It's the dip switch for high and low beam. Horn button is on the right handlebar, as you sit on the bike
Shame on you for doing this. You had that motorcycle running on high rev,s for 20 minutes on its first start up in over 57 years without stopping it to check it over. Did you not catch on the engine was cooking when you seen the excessive smoke coming from the engine and the header pipes going brown. You don't deserve that Ariel or any motorcycle . I have a 1952 KH and i wouldn't dream of letting it run for more than 5 minuets without riding it to get the air around it
You dont know what you're taliking about.. The smoke is just new paint burning off the engine. Dont you think that anyone that has the skill to rebuild an entire motorbike, might just know what they're doing. As for the brand new down pipes heating up and starting to blue. Do you even have a bike, where is your proof that you have a clue what you're talking about.

My dad had the very rare kh500a isdt bike reg no mol5 said it was the best bike ever made genuine 100mph in 1953 the 650s couldn't stay with it
Nice video we’re there 250’s up against your 125,would you say the RS125 had a big advantage over the Yamaha TZ125H in top speed.
The Honda would be a better and quicker bike as Yamaha ceased development of their 125 much earlier and the Honda was then outclassed by the Aprilia. The other bikes in that race were mainly 400 four cylinder, a couple of 450 Aprilia's and a few other oddments

Beautiful, and how I like them, it started so easy and running like a dream though much of this was down to expert fettling, you would wonder why a bike like this was ever put away with so little if anything wrong with it. I bet when it started you had trouble controlling yourself even more so than a newly built engine. Hey, less of the rattly Triumphs! I'm seriously thinking of buying one of these at the moment, its a 53 model in Wedgewood blue, I would prefer an oily rag as is my 37 Velo MSS500 and 36 NSU OSL500. Its an ok restoration let down by the paintwork for a restored bike is very very amateurish and isn't what I'd like it to be, so a lick of paint on the guards and tank it will be, other than that a really nice bike. I will make my decision soon if the deal is good, hopefully, this weekend or next. A vid of the bike on the road would be good. Well done guys.

Is the exhaust new? If so, where did you buy it from? I'm in the process of restoring mine and it has high tail exhaust...
The exhaust and silencers are new as, the original ones had rotted away. They came from Armours of Bournemouth.

Hi Col, yes it just wasn't running right that day, you can hear it at the top end, just doesn't sound quite as it normally would, I guess we just needed to jet it down from what we would use on the usual barrel but we were desperate for finishes for the manx licence, so left well alone. Shame we never managed a lap of the island with the camera on board!
