Shark Apex Vacuum Problem: Brushrolls Stopping & Headlights Flashing
Переглядів 69 тис.3 роки тому
Shark Apex Duo Clean with Zero-M Model AZ1000W Problem. This video documents the problem we experienced with 3 different Shark Apex vacuums. When vacuuming, the brushrolls stop momentarily, the headlights flash and the brushroll indicator light turns off. After the brushrolls stop, the headlights come back on again and the brushrolls ramp back up to speed. This happens over and over again as yo...
I’m in the same situation 🤦♀️and I like this vacuum.
Mine does the exact same thing and I've gone through three of these it such a piece of crap vacuum
I found on my machine after checking the two microswitches in the power head, one is for the handle when it breaks away from the power head deactivating the micro switch and there is a micro switch on the right side that sets when the roller cover is locked on as the rollers won’t spin if that cover is not locked in place. Initially my problem started out as intermittent and lights and roller would start and stop but the problem wasn’t any of the pins or connection points in the handle but the wires from the base unit where the handle slides in. There are 3 wires black white and yellow all passing thru the pivot joint near the back rollers. These wires go past the micro switch and all go to the circuit board. The black wire was severed breaking all power to the power head. It was intermittent as the wire was being damaged from constant rubbing at that pivot joint as there is very little room and a poor design by Shark. Take the small cover off the back of where the handle inserts into the power head. 3 pins connect 3 wires black, white, and yellow. Check for continuity from each pin to the solder joint at the circuit board which you need to remove 2 screws to lift out the circuit board. Any of those 3 wires damaged will kill all power to the power head. To access all of this you need a security T-20 bit for the 12 bottom screws and a security T10 for 2 screws on the side covers covers with plastic caps. I used a razor tip to pop out the covers to access the screws. Regular Phillips to remove the handle assembly from power head and circuit board. I repaired that broken wire and vacuum running perfect problem solved.
Like somebody said on the comments once you close the lid of the brushes Snapper really tight until you hear a click and then it starts spinning😊
Yes! It is incredibly frustrating now my light (white ones) flash and I have zero suction on main vacuum but the hose still works! I'm so disappointed.
MY VERTEX IS DOING THE SAME THING IT'S NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD I'M OVER IT WITH SHARK IV BOUGHT FAR TO MANY TO KEEP HAVING THESE ISSUES
My Shark Apex just did the exact same thing. Anyone know what to do/fix it?
The rug that is in the video seems to be a raised shag rug, there is a 3 position setting on the wand just below the power button, try using the shag setting. You could be stalling the roller motor when you pull the vacuum back which activates the power safety circuit which protects the roller motor from drawing too much current.
My vertex is doing the exact same thing however the lights are no longer coming on
My shark Zu700 is doing the same thing and they are not fixing it.
I hope this helps everyone that is frustrated with the Shark intermittent roller function. Check ALL the male pins on the wand and handle to make sure they are the same length. Next check ALL of the female receptacles on the wand and handle where those pins insert. They are spring loaded and one of my springs was jammed. I squirted some WD40 in the hole and tapped the side with the handle of a screwdriver and the spring came free. It moves up and down now, in the receptacle. I then cleaned the WD40 out some electrical contact cleaner and dried out the holes. Bada-Bing!! Works like a charm. The only thing that sucks is that such a small part is ruining the function of an otherwise great vacuum.
Mine was doing this also. Found that the switch to lets the machine know that the "hood" over the rollers is in place was the fault. I just made sure that the tab on the hood by the green light was in its slot and both latches were fully in the locked position.
Yup! Me too. Found your video when I was looking for solutions.
Same thing happening to us. Now the green light is completely dead and rollers won’t move. 😢
Luckily I didn’t buy this I recommend the Shark rotator zero-m ZU632 I don’t think you can buy it because it anywhere because it might be discontinued
This is the answer. Clean those connecting pins with rubbing alcohol and it works. I’ve done this successfully twice. Shame on shark for not knowing about this issue and how to fix it.
Giving this a try hoping it works
I hope cleaning the contacts works for you. Remember to put the cover back on the roller before trying it again. The rollers won’t work without the cover.
Yup Slightly different model but mine doing exactly the same thing. Customer service absolutely shocking SHARK is a brand I'd avoid like the plague in future. Suspect they'll pack up or launch under a different name avoiding all the criticism and dealing with the fallout of their poor products.
The problem is the motor inside the nozzle head , you need to change it , it is not the belt , belt rarely snaps on shark vacuum cleaner ,
I've had my Shark vacuum about 5-6 years and today my vacuum locked up, won't roll and headlights started flashing.
I wish I could post a picture, but if you take the side cover off, the same side where the top indicator light is. There's a saftey dip switch that's depressed when the top cover is lifted up. The dip switch is depressed by a shitty plastic "rod" with a tiny spring. It could be out of alignment
Found my my Apex brushes not turning found a hair ball behind the soft roller, cleared it, and it seems to be working fine. i will make sure i don't have the vacuum head set too low when working. i mostly have carpet squares and loop carpets to clean. At Apex's highest setting, you may still be over taxing the brush drive, causing the issue. Thank you for the post. please post an update if you've got it figured out!
Same issue 😢
My shark apex is doing the exact same thing! Nothing is caught in the roll brush. Honestly I stumbled on your video to figure out how to fix the problem on my vacuum! Other than this issue I love this vacuum. But now it doesn’t even work and I can’t figure out why. Thank u for your video, letting me know I’m not the only one.
We had similar issue, but not nearly as bad as what's demonstrated here...we could at least get a few passes in hetween hiccups.
Im having alot of problems with this vac im on like my 3rd or 4th as well
mine is doing the exact same thing
I'm on my fourth vacuum
I made sure the 3 pins in the handle were clean and moving freely then I took small pieces of aluminum foil and rolled them up and placed / pushed them into the female sockets they were less than 1/8” long It works fine
Having the same issue with a client's vacuum
I am having the same problem
mine is doing the same thing!!
There is a safety feature that stops the brush rollers when the cover is off. There is a tiny button that is depressed by an extended piece of plastic on the cover when the it is on. It is located on the left side when facing the front. I noticed when pressing down on the top left side while the brushes were stopped and the vacuum on, they would start spinning again. I jammed a piece of plastic in there and fixed the problem for now.
Thankyou very much
Oh my God that was it, it worked for me😮😊,thanks
I would say it's the current being drawn on a thick pile causing it to cut out especially if it's doing it out the box. It's therefore a design issue that the manufacturer should address.
I've had my Apex for close to 5 years, and recently started doing this. Im my case one of three spring-loaded female connectors at the lower wand release remain stuck/pushed, therefore the male connector was hardly being inserted. got the female unstuck and then used some Electrical Contact Grease, and so far so good,
Mine won't even turn on 😢 used it yesterday and nothing today
I didn’t have wd40 on hand, but used a silicone lubricant spray and it worked! I took the red soft roller off and sprayed at both ends. Didn’t know how to remove the brush roller but sprayed at the ends as well.
I'm just starting to tackle this issue, were both rollers not spinning for you? You only had to remove the one?
@@andreah6175 for me the red roller wasn’t spinning at all and the brush roller would sort of work but only when I pulled the vacuum. Once I sprayed the roller ends of the brush AND on the vacuum where they attach it was back to normal 😊 hope this helps!
I took the whole thing apart and checked belts and seemed to work after I reassembled but then again started doing the same. Turned out to be the pins in the wand. I used a mass airflow sensor cleaner from auto parts store and now works fine. Lots of people are having this same problem. Seemed to occur when I pulled the handle back to engage the rollers.
I have brought 2 and had nothing but problems with them
AZ1003BRN Purchased 1/7/2022. Same problem. Had hose replaced 3 months after purchase. On 6/29/2023 the wand, where it connects to the power head is losing connection turning off the vacuum head and brushrolls. The handle light comes on when this occurs, every time you pull back on the vacuum the head turns off. This is unacceptable. We loved this vacuum when we got it now not so much. Very disappointed in the quality of a $400 unit. Going back to Bissell.
I cleaned the brush roll and when I tried to use it again I have the green light but flashing lights and brush won’t spin. Is there any solution for this anyone has found?
I have a Shark not an Apex but the same thing is happening.
Mine is doing the same!!
I have the exact same problem, disassembled the whole vacuum, put it back together and nothing.
I’m having the same issue. Took the side apart to see if it was the belt. Belt is working fine. So right now, I have a useless vacuum cleaner. Definitely, not going to buy another shark duo.
I just experienced this issue and they are sending me a new wand. We will see if it solves the problem. They wanted to charge me but I was nice and they were nice and they are giving a one time exception to send for free.
Your carpet is too thick for this type of hoover. It's not the hoover
I am having this exact same problem with sane exact vacuum at this moment
The fix is pretty simple. Just had to adjust a spring. I can help anyone who wishes hard to explain over a message but simple fix
So my rollers and LEDs went. But were fine if I plugged the handle directly into the main head, by passing the wand. I removed 2 screw's at end of wand which house the 3 pins and spring release to find the black cable and snapped. Solder it back together and fine now.
I have this same problem but I had it for a year before I started doing that and I figured as soon as I saw that it was an electrical issue because the red light wasn't coming on the lights were just blinking and the green light would go completely off. I did figure out that it was the wand connection. I was worried about all these connections when I bought it but it had done fine for so long I wasn't so concerned about it until now. Usually I just take the wand out and click it back in since it's not dirty. That's not working anymore.
Do the turn signals still work?
same exact thing happening with my Apex Duo Clean Vacuum, same model. Very disappointed. It is totally useless and we have only used it a few times since purchase.
