Hmmm. Semi-galleys, I'm afraid: neither proper galleys or hooklegs, but something vaguely in between. A quick read of Cecil Sharp's careful descriptions of morris steps or Lionel Bacon's helpful instructions might be worth the effort. All the clubs I played for in my time paid particular attention to galleys, and practised them rigorously. American morris sides are worth watching: their galleys are usually impeccable.

Don't laugh, I known that tune as ,chase me Charly,. Don't know the (correct) names. Have to say, the belle d,vain girls, are my favourite clog side..

I recognise that second tune - it's Goddesses! One I was forced to dance to in primary school. How I ever got into morris 10 years later is a bit of a mystery... 🙂

50 years ago most New England Morris Dancers and their teams were acolytes of Roger Cartwright and John Vansorosin of the Cambridge Morris Men and their women's team Muddy Water Morris...Rodger and John both kept homes in Boston and rural Maine... both are now long dead...and neither of them at that time had retained the lightfootedness and delicate but strong bounce of Richard Arrowsmith...Consequently though striving to reach Richard's level...sadly all generally fell short...you you have done well Richard..!!... sincerest congratulations...God Bless the future of Morris in the USA..
