4/23/2023 - First trim flights of the Pistachio scale Lignel 44 based on the Peanut scale plans by E. Fillon. Model is covered with condenser paper and made with mostly 1/20" sq. structure. Weight is ~2.5g including 12" loop of 0.040" rubber! What is the genre of this cool thing? Looking at the comments, it's called FF, what does mean? And what is the power source? I've never seen it in Japan or Korea.
It's "free flight," I believe. The planes have rubber motors. It was popular a while ago in Korea with school kids, and I believe they have competitions in Japan. I think the model company Academy still makes the kits.
@@williamhumphreys4372 Oh~ it was a rubber engine. The rubber power machine I know has a rubber band exposed, but I didn't notice the plane in the video because I couldn't see the rubber band. It's so cool. Thank you.
You're welcome! I believe the term "free flight" can also be applied to certain models with internal combustion motors. As long as they are not remotely controlled.

Very nice. Can you give me some stats on your R-5. I don't think mine has enough dihedral as it rolls immediately to the left and flies into the ground every time. What motor cross section? Thanks
Same. I had to rebuild my wing with a bit more dihedral and it remains very sensitive to rudder adjustment. Using substantial right thrust to fight the tendency to go left
